Phil, Thanks for the drink, I'll buy you one too, from 4 to 6 in Michael's Club. Deal?
Sounds good to me. Our respective generosity is boundless:D

I got my DH to spring for the extra $$ by promising him a bigger balcony, now I'll be in trouble if it isn't there.
It definitely has a larger balcony (about twice the size). If it doesn't I'll buy you a drink when I see you on the cruise. You may or may not think that's a great deal;)

A photo of a bird visiting us on our last cruise on Adventure OTS. The bird stood there for at least 30 minutes. I also posted this on the RCCL thread.
Gerry
Gerry, that's a great shot. Do you know what kind of bird it was?

(note to self - don't be impressed with a sparrow on the balcony any longer:))

On Tenerife, the Canary Island after Lanzarote on the Equinox TA...here is Mt. Teide and we are higher than the clouds....
Cheryl and Garry, loved those photos of Tenerife. I really enjoyed our trip through the forest up to Teide. I caught a couple. The first is when the mist suddenly came down when we had our first view of the mountain and the second reminded me of a very happy trip to Tenerife many years ago (the old photo at the bottom that I took shows it hasn't changed much in 30 years!).

Deck - Continental
Cabin # - 6315
Class – SV
Starboard or Port Side - Aft, middle
Bed near?(balcony or bath) – bath
Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Yes
Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Great view of wake. Blue roof overhang of Tuscan Grill on deck below was not an issue and in my view an advantage (see other comments below).
Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - 2nd widest of the aft cabins and from other cabins I saw on the side it was slightly wider than those. Standard depth.
Was wind a problem? No
If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? At times, but dependent upon wind direction as to where the smoke from the stack was blowing. Straight back - more soot. Out to the side a little - less or no soot.
Any specific problems with this cabin? No apart from soot mentioned above and the lack of cover over the balcony which was an issue if it rained.
Any other comments? I liked the lowest deck because it was more private. Noone looking up at you from the balcony below.

Love this thread. Gerry, that's a great shot:cool:
Diane, your husband is a man after my own heart. Just don't get us on the same ship. Rupert tried in vain to pinch my dessert, but he failed:

That's a great shot of Valletta. I have a friend who sailed to Malta on Galaxy a few years ago and she told me the sail in and out was spectacular passing the old buildings:cool:

Garry, loved the Caribbean sunset. The one we had as we left Dover on a TA was pretty special too. I don't think I have ever seen the English Channel so calm!

Some stunning pictures. Here's one of Millennium arriving in Ketchikan just after us, taken from Infinity last year:

NOT SURE IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN NON-BALCONY CABINS - BUT HERE GOES ANYWAY!!
Deck - 9
Cabin # - 9336
Class – ?
Starboard or Port Side - STARBOARD MIDSHIPS
Bed near?(balcony or bath) – N/!
Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – NO UNDUE NOISE WAS HEARD
Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – INSIDE CABIN SO N/A
Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - N/A
Was wind a problem? N/A
If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A
Any specific problems with this cabin? NONE
Any other comments? We usually book inside cabins as we travel so much and find it a huge saving - we like being 'up top' anyway. We were very impressed with the cabins in this class and in this price range. They were spacious compared to most other cruise lines and very well laid out. Particularly liked the space in the bathroom - lots of cupboard and draw space. Would thoroughly recommend these cabins if not looking for a balcony. Hope this helps!
Your user name caught my eye. If you look at mine I'm not too far away from you (well for part of the year anyway);) I hope you enjoyed your cruise.

Mysticks, thanks for keeping up with the PDF file. Just a small amendment to make to it. Notes against 7364 says it is slightly larger of the aft balconies, but smaller than 7317. I think 7364 is the largest (widest) of the aft balconies and 7317 is slightly smaller:

Donna, just another note to say thanks for compiling this list. Great idea and very useful.

No, she's the only one that has not had the issue, but I think I'm right in saying that her inaugural was messed up because of some problem with the pods and they fixed it. Whatever they did at the start seemed to sort it out. I don't like seeing this thread raised again. It makes me nervous;)

We are looking at room 1241 for a January cruise. Is the room/balcony any different from the rooms on the Penthouse floor? In the diagram the balcony looks larger.
Thanks!;)
1241 has a balcony about two and a half times the size of a normal CC balcony. The room is the same size. Be aware that the open part of your balcony can be looked on from the walking deck above (it's pretty quiet), the room is next to a basketball court which may or may not be heavily used according to the cruise you are on and the cabin has an adjoining door to the Sky Suite next door, which may once again be a non-issue depending upon your neighbour. I was in 1200 on sister ship Mercury. This has a slightly larger balcony because of the configuration, but it's a great spot. Not far from the pool area and straight down the elevators to the cafe and dining areas.
If you do a site search of "1241" on the Celebrity boards, there is quite a bit of commentary on this cabin.

Eazo, click on this search link of 7001. There are quite a few posts about it:

Disregard the fact that they relate to Constellation/Millennium/Infinity/Summit. They have the same layout on each of these ships.

I wouldn't mind finding a bottle of Bombay Sapphire hidden away under the lifejacKets!!!
LOL! There's me thinking I could get away with a note........;) The urge to take the bottle of Bombay Sapphire with me when leaving the cabin would be too great I fear. I'll leave you a shot glass instead. Not the same, but it's going to be my best offer:)

I have 8170 on Constellation in September 2008 for a Transatlantic. jerseygirl3, I'll try to remember to leave you a note somewhere:) , but anything more substantial will probably disappear as I found out in 7208 on Connie in March.:( The balconies are truly huge:cool:

Thanks very much for clearing up the mystery light. Is the phosphorence natural or man made?
I'm glad that you were able to dine with the Captain. We'll think of another subject to raise issue with before your next cruise, if it helps with an invite

Thanks for accepting the mission. Have a great cruise and don't worry if you haven't had success with the answer. It's ok, we just won't speak to you
Cat, love your pictures. Do you have Catchphrase in the US? You'd be great at that game.

Hey Nightowl, that's Newt in your toilet!
This sort of topic keeps me awake at night. Next person on one of the M-Class ships, please make a point of asking the Captain. I have to know.

Cruising - have the great days gone?
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
I've been cruising since just before you (2002) and have taken at least one cruise a year since then and one year did three, all on Celebrity. I don't analyse things in too greater detail. All I know is I love the food and service still and really enjoy being at sea. I really like meeting people on the ship and having the odd martini. In answer to your question I am not sure what "great days of cruising" are or were. I just know I loved it when I began in 2002 and still do. Can't get enough of it. I'd do three a year every year if I could.
