  1. There are no restrictions on the dishes you can order, but there may be an upcharge for some of them. Any upcharges will be stated on the menu. Basically you get an appetiser, entree and dessert. The rules regarding sides, and whether you may be able to order an appetiser and a soup, for example, are not applied consistently. Your server will let you know their interpretation of the rules.
  2. This. There should be no problem getting what reservations you want. We can book at 125 days and I always book them at some point during that day, but never first thing. It is very rare to see any time unavailable for any restaurant.
  3. I believe there is an access specifically for people with mobility issues.
  4. To be clear. Restaurant reservations open at some point between 120-130 days out, depending on status or room type (except for shorter cruises). That isn’t that they are open for just 10 days. That is when they open. Once opened they stay open until fully booked.
  5. Well, that is less than 120 days so, as long as they haven’t sold out, you would be able to do that.
  6. Meals aren’t available to be booked once final payment day arrives. The time they can be booked is a set number of days out dependant on your status and room type and is between 120 to 130 days out.
  7. We were on the Viva a few months ago and it is probably now my favourite NCL ship.
  8. Absolutely. I only didn’t mention that as they seemed happy with what they have, but if the reservations are available then they can change.
  9. Sounds like you are happy with your selections, but for future reference you would very likely have been able to get a selection of times for Teppanyaki once onboard. They keep a number of spaces available (the actual proportion is widely speculated on, but not known) for onboard booking. We have often made a few bookings once onboard and have always been able to get the times we want, despite those times baking unavailable for pre booking for some time.
  10. This is because the booking system has no idea about your platinum meals. When you booked your first two meals the system wouldn’t have charged you for them as it knows you have free at sea. After that it does charge. This is why people should always book fixed price places first. None of this affects how you ultimately pay for the meals and if you had paid then you should have got the money back onboard but this is rarely tested because people avoid making the payment in the first place.
  11. You only booked one fixed price place (Teppanyaki). Cagney and Ocean Blue are a la carts.
  12. Someone on these boards recently reported not being allowed to use their platinum vouchers twice in the same restaurant. It’s the only example I’ve heard of that rule actually being enforced (although I doubt many people have tried). They just used free at sea instead, so no problem.
  13. It is in South Kensington, near the Museums there. You are quite a way out of most of the generally recognised tourist areas, but you are right by a tube station which will get you into the central areas fairly easily. London is so big that you can’t be near everywhere and being close to transport is more important, so you tick that box. Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park is quite close, which is nice. There will be plenty of restaurants etc relatively close by. No idea about the hop on hop off, but I’d be surprised if that didn’t go past the museums. Personally I would prefer to stay somewhere a little more central, but this place is in a fairly good location.
  14. And Platinum Plus status doesn’t even exist any more.
  15. FAS is part of the initial booking process. The question is regarding post booking add ons, which are never discounted (outside of the standard discounts for upgrading).
  16. No further input was required. Two people gave accurate replies.
  17. It is now nearly the end of June. Your reservations for an April cruise would have been around the new year, so your experience would not give any indication whether my statement that they have stopped allowing reservations a few months ago is true. I believe that we would also have been able to make them for our April cruise when they first opened up as well. My statement was probably not as clear as it could have been. It is possible that you may be able to make reservations in some instances (phoning may do the job for example), and being NCL there are always going to be variations. However, online reservations are generally not now available for the MDR as demonstrated by the post earlier in this thread, many other comments on this board, and my experience for our upcoming cruise. As always with NCL, there may be exceptions.
  18. They stopped allowing MDR reservations pre cruise a few months ago. You can still reserve once onboard, I believe, as mentioned above.
  19. They are still using the older menu on the Viva by the looks of it. The new menus are being rolled out so don’t expect that much choice to be available next time.
  20. If the stated arrival time is 7am then you will be able to get off the ship at about 7am using self disembark.
  21. That issue seems to have gone away now. I’ve managed to book multiple times on my past couple of cruises.
  22. Look further down the list. You get a meal for Two with wine and then another meal for two (no wine).
  23. You can book all four meals that you will be covered for (2 free at sea and 2 latitudes) at 125 days out. When booking them, make your booking for Moderno first (and Teppanyaki as well if you decide to go there), and check out. That will ensure that you don’t get charged for them. Then go back and book the others.
  24. You can book as many meals as you want prior to the cruise, however they will be paid for. Fixed Price meals are the ones at places that have a set cover charge for the meals. Basically those are Moderno and Teppanyaki (or whatever it’s called on the Prima/Viva). When you reserve a meal in advance you get charged the cover charge for those meals, unless you have free at sea credits available to cover them. A la carts restaurants don’t have a charge when booking (as they don’t know what you will spend) so you should always book fixed price places first, regardless of how you will eventually pay for them. There is a link in my signature which is quite out of date now, but the bit that covers this is still relevant.
