  1. After 25 years of cruises we know the drill. The people that Celebrity hired specifically for the GastroBar are college types that have not gotten a job in their field, and had been working the disco and club sceen till something came up. You will have to experience it I guess, to fully understand the sour attitude. They are nothing like the 'puttin on a show' bartenders at the Martini Bar from the far East.

3 said they were not coming back when their contract was over. They would have been better suited to do laundry.

Ah. Now I understand what you meant. There were no experienced bartenders left to work the gastrobar since they were already working elsewhere, so they used new, inexperienced ones.

I was on the Equinox in January and found the bartenders at that time to be warm, friendly and engaging, almost to a fault.Maybe you caught them on a bad hair day...we all have them.

  2. We had the same experience on the 11 day cruise in Nov.

IMHO, after talking to a couple of the bartenders, Celebrity HR made a poor choice in the hiring. All the bartenders were working in or at bars.

They thought they would see the world and party. Not used to working hard at all.

I'm sorry if I don't understand what you mean,"All the bartenders were working in or at bars". isn't that where bartenders work ? Do you expect them in the laundry or the gift shops.

As to friendliness,I've found a smile and the double secret hand shake has always worked for me.

  3. GI problems are not necessarily food poisoning. They can come from a variety of sources, licking hand railings or elevator buttons or in a downdraft from a voracious sneeze or cough.

Although some complain that this thread is too long.I find the discussion of orange juice refreshing as compared to endless ones about loud music, chair hogs, and dress codes.

  4. I for one don't believe the service is slow at any of the restaurants. This is not fast food and given the amount of food one consumes on a cruise,I enjoy eating a leisurely meal.

We all have our favorite Asian restaurants at home. It's nice to try a different one.

As far as the Tuscan Grill,I found the food to be good but very heavy . There are countless Italian restaurants in the New Jersey/New York area that far surpass it with more interesting and delicate flavors but that doesn't mean once or twice a year i can't enjoy the TG.

Eating at any of the specialty restaurants is just part of a great cruise experience.Relax and enjoy your vacation.

  5. Today many of us are either spoiled or have short attention spans or need a variety of new types of stimulation. Isn't that one of the reasons we see sonny divorce . This no no way an indictment of the op. It's just a fact of modern life that we are all looking for something new

  6. LOL :)

I had to edit out the rest of my comments. But trust me when I say they were very very good.:D And would have gotten me kicked off CC in a heartbeat. ;)

I'll leave it to my imagination. And yes they are very Puritanical in their guidelines ,what with all the little kiddies viewing this board. LOL
