  1. We're going to be in Puerto Vallarta from 9:00am - 9:00pm. We'll take a day trip somewhere, but I'd like to eat dinner in town somewhere.

Any suggestions? I'm looking for something:

~fairly close to the cruise ship terminal

    ~authentic Mexican

    ~family friendly

  2. If you book the two adults in the same cabin and the children in the other, you both will have to buy it. If you book one adult in each cabin, only one will have to.

Kind of off topic from the "cheers" program..... but can you even book children in their own cabin without an adult? I just assumed you couldn't.

  3. LOL! Love it :)

Also, to the OP ... why can't you get cabins near each other? Are they so sold out they won't connect them for you? If it's not super full already, they will get you rooms next to each other .....

We are getting a balcony and an inside. I was hoping for two cabins across the hall from each other but I can't find anything. We are sailing on the Miracle.

  4. We are a family of five, so we need to book two cabins. It doesn't look like they will be close to each other. :(

What is the easiest way to contact each other while on board ship? We're so used to cell phones, of course.

We'll have an "early riser" cabin and a "late sleeper" cabin. ;) Just wondering what the easiest way would be for my hubby to find us when he gets out & about.

  5. Alright, I'm not more confused than ever. :o

So this might be a dumb question.... but....

if I purchase the Cheers program, I have to purchase it for the entire cruise?? I can't just purchase for one sea day? I'm not going to drink 15 drinks a day for 7 days. But maybe for one sea day.

    Also...

My husband and I are going to be in different cabins. We are a family of 5 and have to book two cabins. So only one of us can buy the Cheers program, right? We both don't have to? (The other people in the cabins are our young children.)

  6. What time does the show usually start?

My kids don't really like to stay up late and we'll be sailing from our current time zone. I think they're going to be pretty tired for all of the activities/sun/pool during the day, but nevertheless.... I'm just a little worried that they might be bored after dinner unless we go to the show.

We're not "nightlife people", but I don't want to go straight from dinner to the cabin.

Is there someplace to get dessert? We're going to be on the Miracle.

I wish they had the big screen TV on this ship. They don't, right? A nighttime movie would be fun.

  7. We're taking our first cruise with our kids. They will be 7, 8, and 10 years old. For those of you with kids close to those ages, what did they like to do after dinner?

My hubby and I like to watch the shows or have a few drinks. I don't know what there is for kids to do after dinner except for Camp Carnival. It is still open then, right?

  8. Thanks, but I'm just looking for examples of what other people's spreadsheets look like. I know what I want to compare, but when I put it down on the spreadsheet, it just looks like a jumbled mess. :o I'm more interested in comparing prices, too. We'll have two cabins and one will have a balcony and I'm trying to compare inside vs. OV for the other, too.

  9. Interesting to see how other relationships work. ;)

We're going to discuss today and make a final decision. Looks like we're going to do the Miracle out of Long Beach.

So I could say "I lost", but hey.... we're going on a seven day Carnival Cruise, so I can't really say that! LOL:D

My husband's biggest argument is that we've never been on a cruise as a family of five. (or even a vacation, really) This will be a "test".

I just wish I can a more convincing argument when it comes to the price. That darn airfare adds up SO quickly!!

The kids will be 7, 8, and 10. They will love anything. I guess I shouldn't start them out with one of the ships with all of the "bells and whistles" then when we go on future cruises, they'll always expect it, ya know? :D

Yeah, Cabo and Puerto Vallarta aren't places I'm excited to see again, but I'm sure the kids will love it. I'll just have to research "family friendly activities" in these ports now.

Thanks for all of the input! :D

  10. If it were me I would have a backup plan with costs ready. Does it have to be the Breeze? Have you looked at the Dream out of New Orleans or the Magic out of Galveston?

I am very detail oriented and would have a spreadsheet with all the costs listed, the deposits that would be necessary to book and the number of months you would have to save the rest of the amount you need.

Yes, I've looked at the Dream and Magic. Pretty much the same amount of money. I thought airfare would be cheaper, but it's not. :(

Anyway you slice it, the cruise I want is way more expensive.

  11. For those who traveled with kids on the Miracle, did they go to Camp Carnival? What did they think of it? I saw CC when I was on the Spirit and the layout of the area looks so dark and dreary. :( I don't plan on just sticking them there there entire cruise, but I was hoping to spend some time lounging around the Serenity area while the kids were at CC. I hope I don't feel bad soaking up the sunshine while they are in a room inside.

What did the kids like doing the most on the Miracle? (around ages 7 - 10)

Are there family friendly shows in the evening?

Did you stay together as a family after dinner or did they go back to CC?

Again.... I've just never cruised with kids before so this is going to be an entirely new experience. :D

  12. It has all the kids programs that Carnival has but I have never sailed with kids to really comment on how good they are.

This may not be specifically for "kids", but one of the reasons, besides ports, that I wanted the Breeze cruise over the Miracle is because it has the Sports Square....

    And the water park

My kids are at the perfect age for that stuff.

And now I hear that the waterside on the Miracle is "slow"?? :(
