  1. I am new to Celebrity. Tell me what I am going to love about Celebrity cruise line and especially Celebrity Equinox.

I've read a couple of reviews, but what I want to more or less hear about are specifics of what you all love about cruising on Celebrity and for those who have sailed on the Equinox itself, tell me what you love about that ship.

    Thanks

  2. Booked our first GTY inside cabin last night and we were assigned the highest category inside cabin. Deck 8, however the only downside is that it is a connecting cabin. My husband doesn't mind but can't you hear everything through the doors?

This is the first time I did a GTY cabin and the first for an inside. We live in Florida now, so if we try GTY insides, we can cruise often.

  3. I used IM transportation. You have to walk out of the port to the right to the courthouse. The driver was very prompt. It was a cab. We were booked with another couple. The driver came back and picked us up at the time the both parties agreed on to go back. It was very smooth. I was a little worried at first when we left the port, but it worked out fine. It is a very short trip too the resort.

Do you remember how much your cab ride was and also how long a ride to get to the resort?

    Thanks

  5. You will have to pay in full when you purchase the package.

There have been no announcements about the discounted drink packages. They can remove the discount as unexpectedly as they add it. Since it is a "Limited time offer"...there is no way to know how long it may be offered.

If you purchase it now, and the price goes down before your cruise, you can cancel it for a refund and re-purchase it at the lower price.

What if you change your mind and don't want it, can you cancel it before you leave and get your money back?

  6. Princess has music in each of its lounges at night along with game show type activites or themed parties in one lounge. It's not late night fun and mostly over by midnight, but good fun while it happens. Not as high energy as Carnival, but good adult fun. The overall demographic tends toward older than Carnival, although that can very much depend on the particular sailing. Having sailed both Carnival and Princess, we vastly prefer Princess for its much more understated elegance, more laid back atmosphere, generally more open feeling spaces, and their mix of activites that are overall more laid back fun over Carnival's higher energy...

What particular sailing are you looking at as that can have a bearing on demographics..

Thank you for that. We are thinking of the 8N Southern Carib. to Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire. I love the itinerary, however we are currently booked on the Oasis, just for the ship, not fond of the itinerary at all. So do I check out the Oasis or try Princess?

  7. Princess has many fewer wheelchairs and scooters than HAL.

Is Princess generally an older crowd? I've never sailed on Princess and thinking about sailing on her in December.

Believe it or not, I like Carnival the best because it is "FUN" always music playing etc.

Does Princess have the fun nightlife like Carnival? I'm not talking about night clubs (I'm too old for that), I'm talking about different bands playing in each bar/lounge as I like having cocktails while listening to good bands.

  8. what do you mean you backed out the soda part. It's included in the Premium Package, you can't pick and choose parts of the package. Is your cruise 4 nights or 7 nights, you made your math too complicated. Simply put, $47 per day plus the 18% gratuity makes it $55.46 per day. I found most of the wines were priced either at $8-12 or $14 and over and your limit is wine up to $12 per glass. Drinks are around $11-14 (I'm including the gratuity) so $36 for wine (minimum) and $20 for drinks and you basically break even. Like you said, at least 3 glasses of wine and 2 cocktails and you break even on pre-buying your package. So I'd buy it, knowing it's paying me on those days I'd have more than 2 cocktails and 3 glasses of wine.

Hmmm, So they limit you on the price of wine? You only are allowed wine that is $12 a glass or less?

  9. It's good to keep an open mind. :) I NEVER wanted to sail on Carnival for the above reason and more. However one year we (husband & I) decided to do a long weekend on Carnival for our anniversary (no kids with us), we took the Grand Suite, this way if we didn't like it, we'd have a large balcony and could enjoy the suite.

Well...So glad we tried it. It is by far the most fun ship we've been on and have met some real nice people. Crazy I know.

I convinced 2 other couples to come with us, oh it was hard to convince them, they did the 4 night cruise with us the following year. We laugh at how high falutin' we were (it's an inside joke) and how we all love Carnival now. This April we sailed on the Carnival Magic and will sail the Oasis in December.

There was no way anyone on CC would have convinced me to sail Carnival, however since it was a long weekend out of NY, it was a perfect cruise to try and I'm glad I did.

I would not however sail on any of there older ships.

Do what pleases you, but like everything else in life, never say never.

OP, thanks for a comparison review, great job!

  10. Because it's in the Caribbean?

Not sure what your question is... many places that are oceanfront have sandy and rocky areas. Being private or not has nothing to do with it -- it's simple geography.

    Simple Geography?

Been on many private islands and there weren't different names for the beaches, that was my question.

Wasn't asking about sandy and rocky areas, just saying

BTW, Thanks for the map :)

  11. I had the same thing happen to me with a ring I bought on NCL from Columbian Emeralds. It was a beautiful ring and the second time I wore it the stone fell out, luckily I found the stone and brought it to my jeweler to fix and he tightened all the prongs.

Just got off Carnival and I bought a "cheapy" ring made from SS, I loved it but when I bought it I told my friend that the stones were going to fall out because the setting is high. Well 2 weeks back from my cruise and I threw the money down the drain because I can't find the stone. :(

UPDATE!!! I found the stone on my lanai. Next step, find a jeweler and have them fix it and tighten the prongs on the other stone.

  12. The only time that the Marriott seems to limit access is during the busy time of the year (Christmas/New Years, Carnival, etc). Most cruisers are not aware of the Marriott even being on St Kitts so the resort for a day is a good marketing tool to get people to come to the various resorts on the cruise ship's itinerary but I would try my luck at the desk.

    Thanks Paul

  13. Has anyone been denied day pass access now that Marriott has an agreement with Resort for a day.com?

Curious when the last person went there with a resort for a day reservation?

I plan on doing this don't know if I should spend the extra $25pp with resort for a day

    Thanks

  14. If you knew that the stones were going to fall out and you still loved the ring, why didn't you put it in a plastic bag until you got home and have the setting tightened. Seems as if that would be an obvious solution to me although it is too late now.

    DON

Actually I said it as a joke to her, lo and behold it happened.

  16. You're scheduled to dock at Crown Bay, and with the NCL Escape and Carnival Valor docked at Havensight we'd probably head for Lindbergh, especially with the later arrival. I think Sapphire is also a great choice and a nicer beach, but it is quite a bit further from Crown.

If you ended up docking at Havensight I'd go with Sapphire.

We're not big fans of Bolongo for the beach, although we do like Iggie's Beach Bar.

What didn't you not like about Bolongo beach?
