  1. Wow, that seems like a lot of staff turnover in just a few months. Do you know whether most of them moved on to other Viking ships, or what? The ice bar looks fun. Can’t imagine working there, though. Brrrrr!
  2. Where have you gotten tested for antibodies? That’s something we might want to look into before getting a second booster.
  3. Recovering from Covid within Viking’s 90-day window would feel like winning a lottery. I missed it by a month.
  4. I’m having trouble finding them online under that name. Any suggestions?
  5. Same here. Though I didn’t really ask for it, just asked my doctor if he thought I needed it and he said no. I never progressed past cold symptoms, so he was right. The only one of our Covid group of 30+ people who did get the antiviral was in her 80s and somewhat fragile health. She did fine.
  6. Over on the site that must not be named, the general consensus is not really. If you test positive once, you’re immediately quarantined off the ship (River) or on the ship (Ocean). For River, you’re pretty much done with the cruise at that point. For Ocean, you continue to get tested onboard each day, but aside from that things seem to vary depending on the cruise. The minimum time in quarantine appears to be five days, no matter how you test after that initial positive. This is all just anecdotal. But far as I know, Viking hasn’t stated specifics about their quarantine policies. So anecdotal is what we’ve got.
  7. Don’t forget the bell. Gotta make them wear a bell, too. 🔔
  8. My favorite spot on the ship! Hope you’re having a wonderful time, wherever you are. 🥂
  9. This is helpful. It confirms what I figured: Viking will still allow you to cruise if you mess up the timing of your pre-cruise testing. One less thing to lose sleep over.
  10. I’ve only heard of it on a couple river cruises. Would love to see it extended to ocean.
  11. Mostly my husband, who is a hospital physician. Part of his job for a while included tracking statistics. You can also Google “hospitalized due to Covid vs with Covid.” Some hospitals are starting to differentiate, such as in this article: https://www.healthline.com/health-news/the-difference-between-being-hospitalized-for-covid-and-with-covid New York found that 57 percent of their hospitalized Covid cases were actually there due to Covid. The rest were there for other reasons. Statistics are tricky things, and lazy reporting doesn’t help. And since I’ve probably tread too far off into Covid-land here, I’ll bow out.
  12. We’re doing the British Explorer cruise next September, and we’re thinking we may do our own thing during our day in London. (I’ve been there long ago; DH has never been.) We’d like to see Highgate Cemetery (we love old cemeteries, and this is one of the best) and maybe the Victoria & Albert Museum. I saw them both years ago and think DH would love them. My question for you experienced London-goers: how would you get around? I looked at tube routes, and there’s nothing remotely direct from Greenwich Pier to Highgate. Is Uber a good possibility? Or is there another transportation service you’d recommend?
