  1. In April, they did not have the table side muesli. It was already prepared in the kitchen and it was horrible. We heard they were designing carts with some sort of sneeze cover to replace the ones with no cover and it would resume when they got them. Maybe that was just to make us feel good. I haven't heard if these are in place yet.

On the Summit this past August to Bermuda the muesli cart was used in Blu.

  2. We were interested in a Baltics cruise for July 2017-and it's out of the question with Celebrity-12 nights on Silhouette with one perk is AUD $12000 in AQ :(

Have you looked at the 8/1/17 Azamara 12 night from Scotland to Sweden with three nights in St. Petersburg? They have a promotion of second passenger 1/2 off. AZ includes free drinks and gratuities. All balcony cabin classes are the same price right now.

Also Celebrity's Captains Club and Azamara's Le Club share the same Captain's club number and co earn points on both lines simultaneously. Whatever CC level you are is the equivalent level on Azamara.

  3. I guess it doesn't matter which part of the ship on is on. It is not unusual to have a toilet problem on any ship. We had trouble in a Suite.

Actually I believe it was either the whole system or a large section of the ship. Not just our area.

  4. What category of AQ were you in? Was it a newer AQ! on the top deck?

CruisingChick - What about you? What category staterooms had all the problems?

We cruise out on the Summit in a little over a week. :(

rkaratsu - Sounds like you did get a good deal! For this same cruise, (we booked back in March of 2015), we booked an A1 for $3099pp before taxes and port. Includes Beverage, Gratuity and $300 OBC.

We were on the Summit in August in an A1 facing aft deck 11. We lost all power to our cabin. Then just the bathroom. Then the bathroom light would flicker about 16 times before it would come on. The electrician said that was normal. So I suppose that is the new normal.

Also twice the toilet would not flush but they shortly thereafter fixed the system.

Here's a picture of our balcony.

We did still have a very good cruise. But you'll have to decide for yourself after your cruise.

  5. I would book and gladly take the $20.00, and if it goes down another $20.00 before final payment, I would take that too, etc, etc.

Aren't the "exciting deals" already past final payment?

Personally my time is worth more than the $20 and the time it would take to chase that "deal."

  6. Does anyone have a list of the items/services we can use with our onboard credit? Thank you.

Everything you can put on your sea card or your account. Plus you can take out promotional chips in the casino. When you win, you receive chips you can cash in not more promo chips.

I recently converted $200 promo chips into $160 cash playing roulette with OBN.

  7. ouch! In that case we would probably take the time to make that agencies life miserable. In florida you do have quite a few options. Certainly write a letter (and file a formal complaint) with the florida division of consumer services. Write a letter to the cruise line's ceo and attach a copy of that complaint letter. Also file a formal complaint with the bbb and also attach a copy of your complaint filing (from the consumer services folks). And lastly, send a clear and concise business letter to the travel agency owner attaching copies of your other complaint filings.

And finally, send a letter to christopher elliot (a very good consumer advocate) including copies of all your issue related complaints/correspondence.

As consumers we do have a voice....and using that voice can often help ensure that others do not have to suffer from bad travel agencies.

  8. It's called rain! Has anyone checked the port schedule?

    Friday September 16 OCEANIA REGATTA

Arrives – 0800 hrs Port of call Oceania Cruises

    Sails - 1600 hrs

    Saturday September 17 CARNIVAL ECSTASY

Arrives – 0800 hrs Debarkation Carnival Cruise Line

Sails - 1600 hrs Embarkation for Bahamas

Has anyone checked the Tide Tables? The real flooding problems occur at high tide. But the "flood waters" have already receded and the storm has moved up the coast and offshore.

So now let's warn the people about the earthquakes this area has. :D

  9. In Aqua Class you get one small bottle of welcoming water per person the first day. The rest of the time, you use your beverage package to grab one at a bar or in the buffet on the other side of the ice cream for no charge. You can get the one liter or two liter bottle on the package at no charge.

You will pay, I believe, $4 per bottle without the package out and about.

If you don't have the package and want a lot of bottled water, many people slap one of their luggage tags on a case and have the dockside porter take it. It's delivered to your cabin with the luggage.

  10. You don't need to go to guest services to find out about your OBC. On your TV you can view your account which is updated regularly, you'll see OBN & OBR. The N is non refundable. The R is refundable. They draw from the OBN before hitting the OBR.

I always draw down my OBN until it zeros out then get my OBR to hit my credit card as a credit.

On my last cruise, I turned $200 OBN into $155 cash by taking out promo chips and playing roulette. I also used the $5 match coupons from my Captains Club membership level coupons to help. That's better than buying overpriced merchandise in the stores IMHO.

  11. Hi,

We'll be sailing out of Edinburgh August first on Azamara. They say the port is located at 100 Ocean Drive. We're thinking of going in two days early and staying at the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Waterfront.

    1. What's the best way & cost from the airport to the hotel.
    2. Is that hotel a good choice to be close to the port at a reasonable rate?
    3. Google maps said it is a three minute walk from my hotel to the port. Is that correct?
    4. How far is the hotel from downtown Edinburgh things to do?
    5. Is two days too much time to spend before our cruise or is there enough interesting things to see and do? Your recommendations please.

    Thankx for your assistance.

  12. Booking the Summit to Bermuda in May. Aside from the pool area, are there other areas to sit outside on lounge chairs that do not involve playing the chair saving game? Trying to get away from the stress; don't need to be near the pool / bar to relax. Thanks.

  13. Sorry, how much more ironic can it be...

A serious shareholder is happy for "his" company to prosper and make money. All I read here is that people are complaining about the company not giving away gifts

I bought the stock years back (not just the 100 necessary for a benefit) and kept buying it periodically. Over the years the shares rose 137 % as of today and over 200 % a while back. The dividend alone comes to about 4 % a year and sometimes I received the benefit OBC as a bonus (more on RCCL cruises). What more could I ask for!?

You are seriously complaining about not getting OBC for shares that pay more interest than any savings plan????? Really???

A serious stock holder doesn't hold a stock forever. They trade it. Takes profits and plays the peaks & valleys. Over the years? How many? RCL's price performance over the past 52 weeks is DOWN 28%. How is this a good stock to own?

I would consider a shareholder benefit as a dividend. But alas there is rarely one of those. And that's all you've had so far from RCL stock ownership is dividends. There are a ton of stocks which pay higher dividends.

I purchased a well known stock that, before yesterday, was up 197% in the last 13 months. After yesterday it's still up 185% on my tax lot. However in reality, all this puffery is useless until you sell.

I suspect that with the excessive cruise price increase game, Celebrity may have hit a brick wall in future bookings until they really lower prices...thus projected earnings. However only time will bear out how wall street wants to manipulate this price.

  14. With the prices down like they are from the beginning of the year, I consider the mostly non available "shareholder" benefit to be like pouring salt in a wound. Got most, there probably is no reason to hold the stock.

Now Carnival knows how to treat their shareholders because their benefit ican be combined with other benefits.

BTW Thankx NOT Kevinyork for expanding the width of the thread which makes it difficult to read others postings.

  15. Love the coffee. We usually stop there and take coffee to breakfast with us. We like to stop there during the morning and early afternoon to sit for a little awhile and enjoy a cup of coffee and pastry, but too often, there are people there who monopolize tables for hours, playing cards or reading. If we are lucky enough to get a table, we enjoy our coffee and pastries for 20-30 minutes, then get up and let someone else enjoy the table. I have seen people sitting there for 2-3 hours, which I think is no different than chair hogging at the pool. (And those who monopolize tables in the buffet playing cards during mealtime are also no different than chair hoggers at the pool.)

I've actually seen a couple napping at a table at Cafe al Bacio in the afternoon sun coming through the window.

Besides playing cards, some sit for a long time reading. They're usually along the window but there are plenty of tables on both sides of the atrium. However I don't believe you can call them chair hogs though.

Chair hogs at the pool don't occupy their chairs but place items on them to reserve them for hours.
