can't address the overpriced aspect of your comment as I am here on a casino offer and don't know what the going rate was. Or what you consider "overpriced" for that matter. I paid $200 for my cabin and in return received $200obc + $100 in cash from the casino.

I priced the Aug. cruise when it first came out, and it was $4k-ish for an interior cabin, as a solo. It may have come down over the months. I sail both Carnival and Royal, so when Royal came out with the basic same itinerary (3 Greenland ports, 2 Canada) on the Jewel for $2k-ish, it was a no brainer for me. I have friends that moved over, but other friends who stayed on Carnival, since Baltimore was more convenient than Bayonne, NJ.

Now that 4 drink vouchers are on the sea pass card daily, do people still go to the diamond lounge?  Are there still snacks before dinner?

Sometimes those snacks are my dinner…LOL

I was recently on 5 legs on Ovation and some legs it was packed, and a couple were light. I guess it all depends on itineraries and Diamond and above numbers.

On the Legacy Carnival ships in this class (Spirit Class) the same type of cabin originally had Balcony slider type doors which allowed you to open them up and get fresh air. There was a railing so you couldn't go out. When they were adding the Fun ship upgrades during drydocks they sadly replaced the balcony slider doors with a fixed pane of glass.

When I had a 4k on the Spirit back in 2012, it was French doors that opened in. Maybe some ships had sliders.

So then you'd have to get 5 people to PC? That sounds way worse than just getting a hotel room for 1 night.

That shouldn’t be a possibility anyway, if a stop doesn’t include any of the ABC islands. Would be a violation of the PVSA (Passenger Vessel Service Act)

Worked out ok for me on Harmony last week.

Checked in a few minutes after midnight , using the app on my iphone . Only selected my check in time and filled out the rest on my laptop later that day .

I find that method works best for me as i dont have to get my passport info as i only want to  select the time at that point.

    The problem just started today.

  6. Same issues with Jewel, but was able to check in with everything this morning, except arrival times. Those aren’t coming up on website or app. There was obviously some issues last night, as I checked at 9 pacific, and everything was down.

Again - do I have to wait until I'm on the ship to make reservations for MTD?  And just how important is making reservations for MTD?  We will be a party of 2 that tends to like to eat a bit later, 7:00-7:30PM would be a sweet spot for us.

My daughter and granddaughter were recently on the Wonder, and made no reservations for MTD. They never had a problem with a wait. She did notice that for the 2 of them it was less of a wait than larger parties.

Hello, we are going to Alaska on Qauntum in September. Our check was yesterday, and we completed the procedure. However, we are not able to reserve any shows or activities. Is this not available on this class ship or is it just not needed? Thanks

Check around Aug 1 for reservations for Two70 show. I was recently on the Ovation and did not have to wait until I got onboard.

Is 20% off per person ($107.99 pp) 7 night cruise a good price?

Wondering if blackFriday or another popular sale will bring the price down.

    Thanks

I never look at percentages, because they just raise the normal price and then mark a % off. Also it depends on the ship. Several restaurants or 1-2. If you price each specialty restaurant, what’s the total per person? How much are looking to save? I doubt it will go below $100pp, but never say never. For a comparison, I got a 5 night package on Wonder TA for $139.

  10. I am on the Sept. sailing on the Jewel, and I also stopped there on the 2018 Serenade Northern TA. What specifically do you want to know? It’s beautiful, and very isolated. Not a lot to do as far as excursions, but the beauty is walking around and talking with the locals. I only visited Qaqortoq before, so I’m looking forward to 2 new ports.
