New to Royal (actually, cruised once with them back in 1992) and I'm confused as to why MTD reservations are done BEFORE you get in the ship.  I discovered it just last week but then found dining was only available from 7:30pm or later.

It is not mandatory to make reservations for MTD. My daughter had MTD on the Wonder and never made reservations. Her and my Granddaughter never waited more than 10 mins. to be seated. She said larger parties, with no res waited longer, but so did those with reservations.

  2. I’m going on my first Celebrity cruise next year, and although I go over as Elite, the Lounge scenario doesn’t really mean much to me. I rarely use Diamond/Crown Club during those hours. I guess for those that like to socialize during happy hour times, it will be a nice addition. I travel solo, so I usually like to go to a fave bar. Since Celebrity has limited happy hour times, I will still find a fave bar (Celebrity Edge)

We are no longer on the ship. My husband had a fall this morning and we are at the hospital in Portland, ME. We will not be returning to the cruise. Thank you all for following along. Hope to see you again soon.

Oh no….I hope everything will be OK with your husband. Take care!

sailing on Odyssey in January.  Looking for what floor the lounge is on and if it has any windows. Does it get crowded around 5:00-7:00pm ? Thanks

As you can see from deck plans, it’s on deck 4. I have only been on Ovation, and yes, it has windows. As to crowds, most of the time it will be crowded from 5-7. It also depends on the sailing and how many diamonds and above are on board. They are also restricting usage during those hours to only Diamond + and Pinnacle, if the Diamond and above numbers are high. But only during happy hour, not the rest of the day.

Then our leader decided to have a craft session. So these pictures are some pics.

I brought crochet and Diamond painting on the Greenland cruise. I make jewelry too, but go through stages on what craft I’m doing at the time….🤦🏼‍♀️

    That looks like fun.

I like the chairs on the deck overlooking Centrum..found it to be a quiet place usually, and away from crowds.

I found this online  . ( i dont know how old it is )  It states at the bottom, a service charge is added to the bill . It doesnt state any amount but i take this to mean that the tip is taken from 14.00 allowance and awarded to the server ? ( I hope it is )

And any additional tip is a bonus for good service.

This was my understanding of the server always getting a tip whether you tip the extra or not .

I always tipped extra in cash regardless.

Does the receipt still have this verbiage at the bottom?

    Royal Caribbean.PNG

They don’t have separate registers to print out $0 receipts and Charged receipts, so it will say that on every transaction that comes out. It’s there for those that are being charged. As others mentioned, a $0 charge is a $0 charge.

As far as what a server may tell you, ask 5 bartenders or servers, and get 5 different answers. Sort of like the reps you call on the phone. 😉

I am not sure if the always had snacks in the afternoon. Is that new?

I have seen a couple types of little sandwiches and cookies, but I’m usually on longer cruises. I never went into the lounge on my recent 14 night on Jewel. So not sure if it’s standard.

We board Jewel on Friday so we'll see what happens.  This itinerary usually has a lot more experienced cruisers. We'll see what they end up doing.  We're traveling with friends who are Pinns and we are D+ and on Jewel the DL and CL are both up in the VCL so views are good and it's usually pretty busy.  We're doing the b2b CL to Quebec City, QC to CL.  20 nights total.

On my recent Jewel cruise to Greenland, they gave us an extra voucher for specialty coffee. I rarely use the 5 I get, but I never went to the DL, and just got my morning Caramel Latte at Cafe Latte-tudes. You may get the same thing on your cruises, if they are top tier heavy.

Thank you for your response.  I was hoping someone would say what you just did as our group is not ready to commit and don't want to lose the deposit.  Also they say you can pay 900 to get a refundable deposit.. thats just crazy.. the deposit is 900 so why would I pay 900 more just to get my 900 back if I cancel???

You can also get price drops if they are before final payment. Those drops aren’t happening as much as before shutdown, but there’s always a chance.

Really! After the Alaska season it must have done a one way to Hawaii and then another oneway trip coming back to Vancouver.  I never noticed that itinerary at all.  That is unusual.

I agree. This is not normal….

After researching the Roll Calls, Fall of 2022 was unique. It did a Vancouver-Honolulu, Sept 23 of 2022, and Honolulu-Vancouver, Oct 4 2022. Definitely not the norm.

It was disorganized chaos, with no attempt at helping from staff, and in an un-airconditioned warehouse of a building with no air circulation, and with several hundred people all swirling around in the heat and humidity.

I had it a bit easier, since I was In Transit from Australia. But they were still confused letting the In Transit folks back on after the Coast Guard inspection was over.
