  1. ive been reading the latest on the princess cruise ship that is being quarantined for "at least 14 days". Guests cant leave their cabins! This is historic.

The cruicritic princess cruise board is staying up to date on it - not alot of good news there.

Isn't the point that you don't have to cancel because of medical reason but get refused boarding because you coughed at the wrong time without being sick in the sense of unable to travel in the insurance policy sense?

Apart from all the practical questions. Will the personal in the terminal give you anything in writing? Will that have a quality that the insurance accepts? If you are not sick and test show you don't have flu or corona virus, how to get a doctor to give you the proper documentation needed for the claim later?

I am VERY concered about the same. Traveling with children i fear one gets a cold or ear infection on the international flight over to italy that results in a fever or cough. Plus mine are always coughing or sneezing from allergies and stuff (into their arm! I taugh them manners!) Would we be denied boarding!? I am very concerned as we travel in a few weeks. I am definately going to make everyone a doctors appointment the morning of or day before we travel and have the dr write notes for each of us clearing us to travel and of any illnesses JUST incase.

  3. I live in s. Florida and often they predict 80% chance of rain 24 hours in advance and then change it last min to 0% and we dont see a drop. Happens all the time. Although wind predictions seem much more accurate. .

Sorry you are missing the stop. Like others said ...this time of the year it is actually very common, has happened to us on other cruise lines several times. And with a new island i guess they dont want to chance it.

This is no longer contained to just China.  It has spread to Australia, Europe, Africa, Japan, the US and Canada.

I am scheduled to be on the Seaside for it's Feb 29th sailing out of Miami.  At the rate this virus is spreading, I am fully expecting that sailing to be

I highly doubt the cruises will be cancelled. Not even the ones in the med (and we sail soon in rome)

To put things into perspective.. over 8000 people have died in tthe US for the flu this season..and kills over 650000 people world wide every year!

I do hope the cruises are doing the maximum disinfecting procedures,  quarantines and perhaps bring in extra staff to serve in the buffets instead of everyone handling the food and serving spoons ..yuck.

  5. How were the cirque du soleil shows? Which one do you think two boys (age 12 and 10) would enjoy more?  What about the theater shows?

did you do any MSC excursions? any tips in port?

did you see donuts in the buffet? my kids LOVED them on the seaside.

I was on her maiden voyage, albeit not in YC.  If you have any non YC related questions then I am happy to answer.

    I have a few questions 🙂

did you see both cirque shows? which one is better for kids?

Did you see donuts in the buffet? (my kids LOVED them on the seaside)

  7. Look at the pricing for a yacht club suite. You may find it cheaper than a balcony on royal.  We tried our first msc cruise on the seaside after being loyal to royal and ncl and found msc to be a great value price wise - and the yacht club was a great experience. You get a butler, nicer balcony room, private dining room, bar and lounge, private yacht club pool and more.

With the great pricing and promotions going on now is a great time to try Msc no matter what experience/cabin category you choose (there are several different ones).

I am on the Grandiosa on its first seven day cruise. The ship is pretty fabulous and the staff have all been so kind and efficient. I was expecting bumps in the road, but am pleasantly surprised. I will write a detailed review in late December. So far we have been to Rome, Palermo (what a gritty place), and Valletta (fabulous!)

Awesome! We will be on the aame cruise in a few months. My kids are asking - does the buffet have fresh donuts? (They loved the ones on seaside!)

ALTHOUGH THIS DOESN'T SEEM TO MAKE SENSE....

I loved the YC cabin we were in last month.  We have never booked through directly with the cruiseline, so while onboard, I went to my internet TAs site and held the same cabin for next September.

That offer came with free gratuities and $625. OBC.

I later went to see the booking agent onboard because I had a question. She said to let her handle the booking and she would give me an additional $200. OBC AND I would be able to keep my agent.

I was really skeptical but let her do it. She used the booking number I had held the cabin in and did some things in the computer.

I had to sign a paper allowing her to do this.

The booking number changed but everything stayed the same but showing an additional $200. OBC from MSC.

When I got home I called the internet agency and they said it was all there and they still had the booking.

Made no sense to me ....but I sure would do that again !

WOW! I would be so nervous, so did you get a better price for the room from the online agency or was it the same price as MSC was offering? I ask because when i was on seaside I showed the onboard future cruise agent the website I use to book where it showed the SAME cruise and cabin for $600 cheaper than what MSC was selling it for. The MSC onboard rep literally looked at me and said I can't match that. Book with them!!! She didnt even try.

  10. Sailing Grandiosa in a few months with my sons who love basketball and play daily here at home. They are excited about the Sportsplex and the opportunity to shoot some baskets indoors on their cruise (med cruise in march). I'm seeking more information about this space (its the same as on Meraviglia and Bellissima)

Is it free and open gym most of the day?

Do they have set times for Basketball, soccer, etc?

Is it open most of the day?

Is is first come first serve?

Thanks! If anyone has any pics of the sportbar menu we would love to see it too.

  11. Love your review. I think they must have changed the menu since we last sailed in the begining of June? Our whole party was not impressed with the food most nights,  I don't recall some of the items you mentioned being on the menu. There was also NO sommelier In YC dining room when we sailed and the beverage service was quite poor. I am so glad they have improved since then!! Looking forward to our Grandiosa cruise - thanks for sharing your experience!
