Out of curiosity, did you have to go to the concierge to get the $100 OBC offered to you, or was it automatically added? We complained to the butler and concierge, but were never offered anything.

It was automatically added to my account

  2. We were on this cruise too and we also had Glen (he was not helpful the first few days but shined the 2nd half of the cruise). I agree with most of your review except for the part about the YC dining room food being good. We thought it was very poor and also poor service. In fact we all agreed it was hands down the worst food and service we have had for dinner on a cruise. The maitre d was also pretty terrible...ill touch more on that with my own review. The speciality restaurants were good though.

We also had the bathroom issues too on deck 18..we did get the $100 credit.

Totally agree. The food in YC did not live up to the hype (and price), slow service.

However we had an amazing host there. Julia was a star.

We enjoyed the cruise in YC, but it wasn't the best option available.

Food is not subjective, tastes are.

Just an example. The bakery items we saw in the YC and in the buffet were... basically the same. But one note: they were fresher in the buffet. 🙂

Osso Bucco in YT (Left) and in MDR (Right):

I agree with you 1000% this was our experience too. We stopped by the buffet towards the end of the cruise and for instance the croissants tasted 10x fresher in the buffet than what they were serving in the YC. The dinners were terrible in YC...worst dining experience we have ever had in out 10+ cruises.

  4. I just got off the ship. Prepurchased spa services DO NOT include tip. I confirmed this with the spa and concierge. They don't make you sign anything after your appointment and you can not leave a tip on your card on file. Only way to leave a tip is with cash. Very confusing...and imo the spa staff is getting shorted by msc because of this confusion.

If you are in the Yacht Club the staff up at the One Pool had a big screen and sports feed wired so we could watch a World Cup match.

    Dennis

I'm here now and haven't seen a tv by the pool...where did they put the tv?NBA finals game tonight

  6. We are on the ship now and all of our interaction with staff has been fine...friendly enough. There are a lack of bartenders and staff in some areas..that is noticeable!

The yacht club food hasn't been great so far..but we are only day 2. NO way has it been spectacular so far..very underwhelming. The service has been great tho. Venchi has been a huge hit for us. Amazing drinks. I'll also be leaving a review next weekend.

  7. Can someone walk me through the process for YC at the port in Miami. We will be driving.

    • Can we arrive at any time? (our tickets say 2pm) would like to arrive earlier
    • How far is the YC tent from the parking garage?
    • Will the YC tent butlers tag our luggage with their own tags(the tags that are in our edocs are just plain black and white)
    • Do YC passengers have a separate line for security?

Anything else we should know? What time it lunch served until in the YC restaurant?

Sorry to hear this and I’ve not seen anything,  anywhere, warning non-US citizens that it would be a case of ‘go to Cuba and the cruise line would be banned from the US’.

I wonder if in the future MSC will pull out of the US completely. There must be a cut-off point especially if China is next in line for restrictions  after Cuba, with the escalating trade war.

    That wont happen

I am on the ship now, last day!

They had the deck party the night we were in San Juan.  It was well attended with lots of dancing by staff and passengers.  I’m not sure if they do it on the Western itinerary.

Thank you! This is so helpful. Someone mentioned in the ship reviews that the yacht club priority elevator isn't working. Is it working for your cruise? I hope it gets fixed.

How has the food been in the yc restaurant? There has been talks a few weeks ago that YC is getting a new chef (not sure if thats happened yet).

Having trouble deciding what night to book a speciality restaurant dinner..do you have any suggestions on a good night to do this?

    Thanks for replying!

We were in St Martin yesterday and spent the day at Bikini Beach at Orient Beach. It was wonderful!  We arrived around 9:30 and were one of the first there. They have tons of beach chairs and umbrellas ($20 for 2 lounge chairs, table and umbrella).

There was a young man there raking up the seaweed to make the beach clean. The water was turquoise blue with nice waves.  We had lunch at the restaurant that is also totally new, and it was very good. They will also serve you on your chair on the beach.

It was a 25 minute drive and cost $25 each way. We had a nice air conditioned (!!) van that we caught at the taxi stand at the end of the pier. Leo, our driver was great and came back to pick us up at our arranged time. Be sure to allow for a longer lunch. They are on “island time.”😂😂

Ours was the only ship in port that day so the beach was not crowded. We did see KonTiki a little further down the beach. It looks like they are still working on it but there were umbrella and chairs on the beach. FYI Bikini Beach umbrellas are green, Kon  Tiki’s are red.

When we go in 2 weeks our msc cruise will also be the only boat in port that day - I assume traffic wont be bad heading back? were you on the msc seaside?

There is not enough time to fully enjoy Atlantis.   My wife and I did Atlantis last year and felt rushed.   We are taking our kids in July and we don’t see the value.   Since we are in YC again we might just get off the ship and let our daughter shop then get back on to ride the slides and zip line.

Did you sail on the seaside when you went to atlantis? we've been before so I know the value isnt very good for the amount of time. Regardless we would like to go.

Since we are YC I'm hoping we get off the ship right after 12 and taxi to atlantis by 12:30 and do the water slides until 5pm and than view the aquariums for an hour or so after the waterpark closes at 5. And then head back to the ship around 6pm.

  12. does anyone know if we could buy atlantis waterpark passes at the hotel instead of beforehand online? Hoping to wait and see how the weather is. Buying them beforehand online says non refundable.

Also, if anyone has done the msc excursion for atlantis I am still seeking feedback. The cost of buying them on our own vs through msc is very similar in price when you factor in transportation.

  13. Our cruise will be in st maarten in a few weeks on a Wednesday from 7am-2pm. I keep seeing people on our cruise ship forum posting that they are doing ship sponsored excursions because of the short time - and a worry of making it back to the ship on time. Also, i keep reading about heavy traffic. I checked the port schedule and it shows our ship (of 4,000 passengers) is the ONLY ship scheduled that day.

We were hoping to grab a taxi to the french side beaches, should I be concerned?
