Any favorite dairy free items she loved?

Nothing that she can remember, it was just nice having a better idea of what foods were safe for her vs guessing.

I just got off Legend's 14 day cruise to Greenland.  We had Your Time Dining, which we've done for our past 10 or 12 cruises, and have always pretty much checked in as early as possible.  (On this particular cruise YTD and Early Dining started at 5:00 PM, while late dining started at 7:30 PM.)

One evening we felt like going to dinner a bit later and didn't check in on the Hub App until around 6 PM, at which time we had over an hour's wait and were finally seated at 7:15  So basically, it seems to me, Your Time Dining has devolved into essentially either Early or Late dining with the exception that you don't know which table you're going to be at.

What's everyone else's experience with this?  Did we just get unlucky that one night?

Just like any restaurant on land, you go during the popular times, expect to wait longer.

Do not doubt you but Carnival does not change the flights, the airline changes the flight.  That said, used it 3 times and other than a change to a slightly earlier departure, nothing changed and ALL were direct.

The original flights were still available for the airlines, so no, it WAS Carnival.  I've seen ut said that Carnival doesn't actually ticket the flight until closer to the cruise, so their contracted rate may have risen, so they moved to a cheaper flight.  I was able to cancel F2F with Carnival and booked the original flights with the airline at the original price.

  4. We've used it quite a few times for my daughters dairy allergy.  It works great, however on the last day trying to grab breakfast before debarking, there is not anyone there, at least not on the 3 cruises we've been on since the restart.  When I mentioned it to John Heald, he said they would do better at that so hopefully they have fixed that small issue.

  5. I've tried using it a few times, but have ended up cancelling each time. I would book a nonstop flight for my cruise, then Carnival would change flights to ones with layovers and worse flight times and if I wanted to go back to the original, it would cost more money.  So I would cancel and rebook direct with the airline.  Maybe if using it for overseas would be better, but my experience with cruises from Utah to Long Beach and Miami is not the best.

Yeah, it's a shame they don't put a little more effort into making it more useful leading up to a cruise. Seeing the menus would be nice. They could always add a disclaimer that menus are subject to change to cover their rears. The itinerary. More than just a countdown. All it can do beyond that is redirect us to the website instead of doing it internally. They're being lazy & cheap by not wanting to build it up.

They have a CD schedule that says subject to change at any time, but we see lots of people crying to John Heald because the CD  was the only reason they booked that cruise.  It happens on 3rd party sites with comedians and piano bar entertainers.  People will complain just to complain.

i'm sorry but i Think anyone that iwants to contact John are trying to get him to give them something for free.🤬

Thats because the majority of them either want freebies, or are unable to find the answers to questions that are clearly listed on Carnivals site.

Word is that she sat for 3 hours today with no engines today (8/11/23) per some online groups at that other place. They need to dry dock her before January!

Its happened quite a bit.  If they haven't done it yet, they won't cancel more cruises to send it early.

Thanks for the reply.  This is where it matters on what type of person you are.  The gains are better than the losses for me.  Who needs service two times a day?  First world problems.  Who needs a mint?  I never do room service.  Guys burgers is great even after covid.  MDR doesn't seem to be as good as it was, but I am not expecting a five star meal and I certainly don't go hungry.  And we are talking about changes over ten years.  Name a business who hasn't made changes over ten years?  The things that bother me most on the ship are the customers.  But we all beat to a different drum.

The issues is all the small cuts while increasing prices sucks.  They cut cabin service, and immediately increased gratuities, so it is essentially getting charged more for less.  We don't have to like the changes.

Name one change that has been significant.  I started cruising 8 years ago.  None of the changes effect anything for me.  Things change.

Since I started cruising in 2010, we have gained Guys Burgers(which seems to have gone downhill since COVID), Blue Iguana(both the bar and restaurant), Guys BBQ, and Alchemy Bar.  Lost free room service, twice a day cabin cleaning, which also cost us the mint/chocolate on the pillow, staff that had time to stop and visit(now the majority appear rushed).  Food that used to be excellent in the MDR are now available for purchase in the steakhouse, tablecloths went away.  Elegant night truly felt elegant

When I booked Chefs Table for next months cruise on Celebration I was given the option to pick the day, all the days have the same time 6:30.

I wonder if that's because it's such a big ship? We're on the Spirit and when we booked it stated it will let us know the date when we get onboard. The time is 6:30 though.

Ships starting with the Vista have designated rooms for the Chefs table, they are not taking over a separate area for it.  That's why it is offered more on the newer ships and not ships like the Spirit.

@vwrestler171 Thank you, didn't realize this cruise was out of Galveston and for the info on MCO.  I may also look to see flights out of Sanford, just a little further but a small airport.  I have flown from there many times going to Orlando and never had a problem.

Yes Vista is in Galveston for a few more months and then it will move to Port Canaveral in November.
