We liked it. One of the drawbacks was after 7pm a bunch of kids fill the hotubs and make noise til midnight.
-
Oh Yeah also all the extra tips all the servers received will be gone now too.
-
Oh well, Instead of getting more than half price for drinks now they will receive ZERO.
-
Who buys that worthless crap. Somebody must.

Once you get onboard any of the beers they serve in bottles or cans can be purchased 5 for 4. Bringing a bottle opener is no problem. I also bring a soft cooler. The ice melts fast in the plastic buckets.

I cruise to get away from my phone. I guess that’s good for port pics tho.

Only in the U.S.A. Anywhere else on the planet health care is covered.
Unless you're in prison of course. Then no problem.

According to the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS)' Transplant Living Web site , the estimated U.S. average in 2011 of billed charges per liver transplant is$577,100. Adjusted for inflation in 2018 /19 I would say about $700, 000. Go for the soda package, sugar free and you should be fine. That is definitely a cruise you want to book with S&S and gratuities!

Here you are.
So no drink specials for us po folk... Only the elitist?
-
68.99 plus 15% gratuity is 79.34. 79.34 divided by 15 is 5.29 per drink. Add in the soda, water and others, still seems like a screaming good deal to me.

Not for beer drinkers
$5.29 for a beer is not a great deal. If you get a bucket of beer you get a small discount making your beers 5.06ea
woohoo save .23 cents. In order to do that I have to drink all 15. If I don't I'm actually paying more than I would without the package.

Once everything goes digital that will end I would think.
-
Yeah take the $50. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
-
Yeah saw it all over FB.

If you have video of your trip post on You Tube. Best way to really get your experience. Great review tho.

Why is it so hard to roll out new specials on ships. Just send a memo and go.

I have said this before, but I really believe Princess is going to cost themselves money with the escalation of drink prices and the removal of BOGO.
People will cheat more (two sharing a Drink Package, smuggling alcohol on), We will not do this, but Princess has made this option more attractive for some people.
More importantly for Princess, people will just drink less. We often went to BOGOs and would have a couple drinks each time. It was a nice time to meet up with friends (both old and new). Now that we feel like Princess is being overly greedy, we will certainly drink much less.
I would think Princess would pay very little for their alcohol (duty free, and bulk buying). Say a drink costs them $2. (Just guessing, but I cannot be that far off.) If they sold 8 drinks for $10 (4 of those are BOGO), that is $28 in profit. Or without BOGO, they would sell 2 drinks, and make around $16. In our case they will probably sell no drinks. The bars were already very quiet. They were only really busy during BOGO times. They have cancelled a pleasant social time that must have made them money.
As a passenger I am not happy, and as a shareholder, I am not happy. Princess is banking on people just accepting the increase and carrying on. I am not sure that this will happen.
I’m in the wholesale liquor business. Drinks cost Princess less than $1. They buy huge quantities and get deep discounts. Believe me they are still making a ton on BOGO. Even the second drink for a buck is covering their cost.

Well they still have the 5 for 4 bucket of beer. It brings the price down to only $5.50 for a normally $3 beer.

My 'friend' just returned from her 6th one night Vancouver to Seattle cruise. She is now Elite. She always traveled single and a couple of times in a full suite. Bully for her but it still erks me because I did it the old fashion way, number of cruises/days. However, I have been able to enjoy a true cruise experience while she has not. So who's the real winner here?
Huh I didn't know you could do that......interesting...

Has anyone heard or experienced and new drink promotions since they eliminated happy hour? Just curious.
-
So instead of purchasing BOGO at Crooners we will be having free drinks on our balcony.
-
Not only popular for guests but also for the bar staff because of the 15% tip added to many more drinks than would be sold at that time. And a lower profit margin on many drinks is still more profitable than a quiet bar.
One person was happy to have a quiet & nearly empty bar but that’s not as profitable for Princess & is very disappointing for many passengers. For those who desire solitude that’s possible during most of the day.
A previous post stated that Princess said BOGO$1 was being eliminated due to too many passengers stocking up on drinks which reduced drink purchases later. If that’s true, that’s a valid concern & they’ll evaluate whether HH is still more profitable or not.
I don’t smuggle alcohol but the elimination of the HH could result in more passengers doing it resulting in lower profits.
Statements from Princess say that the HH elimination was done by their F&B department but wonder if it was actually done at the direction of upper management.
I know we will be bringing on more booze since the elimination of happy hour. Also servers will be losing tips. Not only the 15% but we usually gave the servers a couple bucks cash too.

Probably for the best. We will bring on refillable bottles. Need to cut down on plastic bottles anyway. The ocean is filled with plastic garbage. Cruise lines should really lead the way in keeping the oceans clean.

I agree kind of a slap in the face to the Platinum cruisers.

Go to you tube and search how to smuggle alcohol on a cruise ship. Enjoy your Crown.
