I just received my refund this morning.

    Cruise Date May 9th

Cancelled by Carnival on March 30th

    Rebooked on April 3rd.

I did take the obc and rebook the cruise for September but since the FFC was only for what the penalty would have been if I cancelled my cruise and my rebooked cruise was way cheaper they refunded the rest.

I also had a casino offer so I had to cancel and rebooked through the casino.

I also got my FTF and excursions refunded.

My refund went to an AMEX.

That's good to see that May cruises are being processed.

Mine was on June 9 so maybe another month 🙂

I generally browse the forum to see what's being discussed before trying to report a "scoop" as though I'm the first to think about posting the topic even though I haven't visited the site in a while.  For such a hot topic, seeing other threads on the topic isn't hard, they've been on page 1 since they started...

Exactly. Not to mention making the subject "Norwegian Going Bankrupt" and then starting the post with "Well it looks like its official". NCL has not filed for bankruptcy (yet) nor is it official...

    Well this is very interesting.

i should be on my royal cruise right now. Today my friend who I was going to cruise with said she got. $550.00 refund on her Amex card today but nothing on the MC she paid the remaining cost of the cruise, around $750.00 . So is there a reason why the lines would rush to credit Amex cards and not other cards....this is suspicious and more than just a coincidence

I used AMEX and don't have any refunds yet. They are probably processing charges as they happened and not by card processor.

I am sure that is because they have many people involved in the process and want one message.  That message should not come from social media, even in the best of times.

I totally agree but also curious about who you speak to / get info from about that? Unless it's someone on the executive leadership team I wouldn't trust a PVP or customer service rep at this point.

It is Carnival and they are communicating it.  I talk to them almost every single day on this very issue.  It will happen and it will be around 90 days.  This is uncharted waters.  They are processing as fast as they can.

If it happens in 90 days or sooner then that is fine with me - I can wait. My only concern is that the department that answers social media is not acknowledging or mentioning 90 days or up to 90 days, etc.

Actually they do have an idea 90 days.  Patience is a virtue.

Who is they? Because if you ask Carnival on Facebook or Twitter their response is they are working on it but can't provide a date.

So if this 90 days that I keep seeing is official they would have surely said so in their posts and replies.

I filed with my cc to dispute the charges... better safe than sorry.

What is the outcome. Is there any benefit to this?

It's not like the charge is fraudulent and Carnival is supposed to refund it - its just taking way longer than usual.

Not sure I would recommend this unless it has been 90 days and you still haven't received the refund...but that's just me.

  8. Like many others I have filled out the form for a full refund few weeks ago. No confirmation after submission or refund. Up until recently the cruise still appeared when I would login to my profile - today its gone. So not sure if they just removed them all up until June 26 from "My Bookings" section or if they are doing it on individual basis as they process those forms

Insurance it not something you return if you don't use it.

Does your house or car insurance return your premium at the end of the year, claim or no claim ?

    Yes they do...most cases pro-rated.

There are many examples, most common for me are GAP car policies. I have gotten partial refunds on them all the time when original loan was paid off early.

I'm starting to feel like we'll never see our refund. The fact that I didn't receive a confirmation email, basically no proof that I asked for my money back, I already know how this will play out.

I took a screenshots of the filled out form and the confirmation page that shows up after submitting. Saved those as proof since I saw people saying there are no email confirmation.

Was Royals out of San Fran

Don't know but pretty sure they have sailings from Seattle, Vancouver, etc. Any Alaska cruise is cancelled with them through July because if it starts anywhere in the US it has to stop at foreign port... Victoria or start in Canada. Both options are out.

Out of SF if they don't stop in Canada the only other remote possibility is Mexico but that could easily add another 2-3 days of sailing to the cruise

Ours was May 11th and was cancelled today.  I don’t know this for sure just speculating, they may be doing this is in waves so they are not overburdening their employees.  My PVP said today they have even hotel managers helping fill out cancellation forms.
We wanted to be sure to get the 100% FCC and $600 OBC which is why we waited until Carnival cancelled the cruise.

Yep but this wasn't an Alaska specific cancellation. Carnival cancelled all cruises through May 11.

Problem is that even if they resume after May 11, Alaska is a special circumstance since it requires access to Canada which is closed through July. Unless the law that requires a stop at a foreign port is suspended there is no way any cruise line can make those trips. So Royal Caribbean already announced that all their Alaska sailing are cancelled through July. Many were waiting for Carnival to announce the same today which they did not.

Thanks.  I thought I missed something.  When do you think they'll tell us????  It's like they are ignoring it.

Good question. The replies on Facebook and Twitter are cut / paste which basically say we don't know - we will tell you when the execs tell us more.

AFAIK, there are no Carnival sailings from any port in the U.S. going to Alaska. Primary reason is that Canada has closed its border to the U.S. until July 1. I believe that the U.S. has also closed its border with Canada as well.

Exactly but Carnival isn't saying what they are planning to do and have not officially cancelled Alaska sailings through July.

I just want them to announce an official cancellation already

Has a decision been made on Alaska?  I have one booked for June 8.

No - with today's update nothing has been provided about Alaska and if you ask Carnival they just reply with a canned response.

I don't blame the social media / customer service reps but the execs need to do a better job.

Alaska cruises seem to have been removed from Carnival site - my June 9 out of Seattle doesn't show up anymore.

The least they can do is provide some update as to what they are planning. Truthfully though, even if they somehow do sail - I would rather pass. Don't want to be around so many people just yet - all it takes is one straggler who is positive for the virus to restart the whole thing...

I have a limit set to buy all 3 company stocks.  I don’t care what is happening short term.  Demand for cruising will renew after the immediate crisis is over.  The big 3 are not going to just fold and go away when the demand for millions to cruise will still be there.

That's exactly my thought and reason why I want to buy. Sure its really bad now but I don't see these companies completely disappearing and eventually life, travel, and cruising will resume. So what is the risk now buying so low - it can only go up? I am not a stock or finance expert so maybe I am missing something.
