  1. Any recent experience with carrying on bottled water? (12 pack) I understand that the official rule is that it's not allowed but that rule is rarely enforced. Just wanted to see if anyone actually been in a situation where they did not allow to carry on bottled water.

I would not even consider bringing bottled water but how much does Royal Caribbean charge for that on board?

Carnival is $2.99 for 12 pack and RC is what...$40?

  2. What time did boarding start? We go on the Liberty on the 19th and got a letter today that the terminal will open at 10:00am, but that boarding will not commence until 12:30pm. Just wondering when they plan to start that. Boarding has always been much earlier.

Our check in was at 11 but they did not let people onto the ship until 12:30. During the check in they assign you a boarding group #

  3. There is pizza but our son won't eat that too. So frustrating. Kids love pizza and he loves Ninja Turtles who love pizza yet he won't eat it.

We tried calling room service to ask if we can get Mac N Cheese and they said no. We also asked about chicken nuggets and that was a no as well (you can order chicken tenders for $5)

Considering that Carnival markets itself as a "family" line which I assume includes kids I would have imagine that they would have more / easily accessible kid foods (I wish ours wasn't picky so we wouldn't have to deal with this but the doctor says to just let him grow out of this...starve him until he eats whatever...)

  4. We have a 4 year old who is a picky eater when it comes to lunch / dinner (breakfast is fine...). His #1 choice is Mac N Cheese.

Where on Carnival can you find "kid friendly" food for lunch? We have not seen Macaroni and Cheese at the buffet at all. We couldn't really find anything that usually appears on a kids menu. Even fries that we found were heavily seasoned.

Its much easier at dinner in the MDR since we can order Mac & Cheese, unseasoned fries, etc..there and they provide a kids menu but lunch at the buffet is a struggle.

  5. We are booked on this cruise and are pretty unhappy about htis.. This is my Bachelor party with me and 4 other guys. This is the second change to Itinerary they have done in the past 3 weeks. Now removing the port and coming back to home port early.

Not sure how exciting the ship will be sitting in dock in Galveston.. There isn't anything much to do as far as an Excursion in Galveston, and if you treat it like an at sea day, the Casino is closed, Shopping with either be closed or have to pay Galveston Sales tax. Drinking.. Well more tax on that as well. So some of us the $100 OBC isn't going to cover the sales tax of being at port.

If you are not from Galveston / Houston area there are a lot of things to do like Pleasure Pier, Moody Gardens, Space Center Houston....

Now if you are local then you probably been to all of these already

Hard to please some people eh?

Go on facebook and search 'port of baltimore' everyone is saying the ship hit it. I know it is early on a sunday morning and you probably haven't had your coffee yet, but if many folks are saying the ship hit it, the ship hit it!

OK, the ship hit it. Personally I don't really care as long as nobody got hurt. All I am saying is that I just don't consider Facebook as a news source unless it is posted by a news agency or someone official.

  7. Just because some lady on facebook says so doesn't make it true :)

The lady in question is actually on the ship!

    .

Yeah I know she is...but unless she actually saw the ship run into that thing who really knows what happened until someone official releases the info.

Seems kind of strange that a ship would run into that unless it was extended over water...

  8. lady on the ship posted: 'On the Pride right now. We crashed into the gangway. Three cars under it. Doesn't seem to be injuries.'

Looking at the title I thought that the metal gangway that they extend from the ship at ports of call has collapsed...

  9. The Escape is still fairly new, so to find someone that has sailed both the Escape & the Magic may be difficult. I have sailed on the Magic (Loved it!), but my Escape cruise isn't until December, so I can't help you with first hand experience. I would suggest reading a number of recent reviews on both ships to get an overall idea of each ship.

When the Escape first started sailing, the reviews were overwhelmingly negative. I think their promo to pick something free such as the drink package or Specialty Dining is causing issues with service, or the ability to even get in one of the specialty restaurants. Nearly everyone comments that the pool is just too small to accommodate everyone that wants to use it. However, more recently the reviews have improved (Which is why I haven't cancelled our trip).

The Magic is about 4 years old, but recently had a dry dock. It has two pools, plus water slides. It's big, but not as big as the Escape. I've been on some ships that I just loved (Emerald Princess, Eurodam, Coral Princess), but the Magic is my favorite.

I am sure which ever you choose you will have a good time.

I think Magic is 5 years old (since maiden voyage) :)
