Had the results from my MRI on monday (only had MRI saturday) Breast cancer I had in 2013 has spread to my spine. Now have to wait for appointment to see oncologist. I am wondering about going on my cruise in august. Have bank insurance but that won't cover me now as they cannot cure it but they can treat it. Wondering if anyone in a similar situation can advise me about insurance. Obviously I will have to see oncologist first but only have until 23april to pay balance.

Morning everyone.
Thank you Josy for all the work and time you have spent helping to get this virus under control.
It's very quiet down here this morning after all the winds of yesterday. I have just checked the weather forecast and there is now a flood alert out, due to the high tides!
I've got an early start this morning as I have to get up to Truro for 8.30am for a MRI scan. When that's down I'm going to take myself down into the town shopping as I was given some vouchers for Christmas.
Hope nobody has suffered any damage due the storms and that you are all safe. Enjoy your day.
Pam
Snap. I also had an MRI this morning at 8.30. Longest hour of my life.

We have been to Norway twice. Took a small amount of cash. Bought presents from market in Bergen for the grandkids so soon spent it.

Thank you so much for your reports! We will be joining the QM2 on Sunday for a full 32 day cruise and it has been very reassuring reading your diary of what sounds like a fairly normal trip.
QM2 is leaving for the caribbean on tue 15th feb. Are you staying for 2 days in southampton.😁

we are over 70 but covered to 80 . I know this is unusual these days .. we have had the same M&S premium cover for a long time from when it first came out.
I guess if either of us has serious health issues then we would no longer expect to receive the same cover and this will limit our travel. However it is strange that the issues have come about since Covid when it’s always been the case that we travel as a couple and are insured against illness or accident to one or either of us.
Of the two instances in the past when we have had to claim for cancellation neither of us was ill. Sadly it was due to a terminal cancer diagnosis of parent and a sister. We have always felt fully covered against unforeseen circumstances.
Whilst it’s possible to need quarantine it’s not expected and as such it’s an unforeseen event. We have travel insurance with our bank underwritten by aviva. We are also covered until we are 80 years old. Only another 11 yrs to go for me and 15 yrs for hubby🤣

I will admit that I had my dryer years ago, so not as up-to-date as they are now, and found that it tightened cotton fibres. I stopped using it and never missed it.

I wouldn't be without my hot air tumble dryer. Had a condenser dryer long time ago, never again, had to iron everything and it shrunk quite a few things.

The balcony we had on Aurora was metal fronted with two iron railings above it, not the glass fronted type we've had on Arcadia, and it felt quite cramped. Don't always book balconies as quite happy with an inside depending on the length and destination of cruise as we mostly get showered/changed and sleep in them and spend the majority of our time out and about or sat on deck . I am aware there are differing types pf balcony on Aurora but this was what we got on that particular cruise
We had a metal fronted balcony with two irons railings but we were on oceana🤣

On the dress code sticky topic someone has pointed out that items are disappearing when using the Edge browser, but they show up if you use Chrome. Maybe the same issue?

When my youngest daughter was with her previous partner she used to iron all his clothes wrong!!! she also used to stack the dishwasher wrong!!. So he did all his own ironing and used to stack the dishwasher. I often used to wonder which was the clever one🤣

I've just read that letter and I do not like the limited flights to the UK option. I'm not normally a gambler but my bet is those flights will be on the p&o flights back to UK on those dates. I will not be a happy bunny if that is indeed their intention and would consider it almost reckless endangerment. 123 came out on our flight and that is what I expect to go back. Anymore than that and I will be having BIG words with the CEO's office once I return.
Playing devil's advocate here but if it was the other way around and people on a cunard flight didn't want anyone from britannia on their flight how would you feel. Also would you say I will not go on that flight incase I infect others, and make your own way home.

DH came home tonight saying he has been made redundant as of today. They can't afford any wages for last week (works week in hand) this week or xmas. Nice xmas present. Fortunately we have some savings so will be ok hopefully. DH retires in 18 months. Thankfully we have no mortgage as paid off 5 years ago, but can you imagine if we were a young family with no savings and no money coming in over xmas.

I am wondering if it is more to do with ffc. We have a deposit from our cancelled Iceland cruise last year. We have to use it by 13th December. Was waiting for 2023 to be released and use it then. I reckon they want them all used up by next year. Have booked 9 nights to Hamburg, bruges and amsterdam as we don't want to travel too far as virus is still uncertain. Hopefully will be ok by next aug.

Well I have bitten the bullet and booked this cruise. Got a sheltered balcony. No ordinary balconies as all sold out except for obstructed. Just some planning to do now in the new year to see what we can do.

Had my flu jab saturday at GP when I went in they asked me if I wanted my booster as well as they had a spare one. So I was brave/foolish and had both. On paracetemol by teatime. But at least it is done and I haven't got to go back on 20th Nov for my booster.

9 days seems a very long time for this cruise. I'm sure it'll be lovely but with 9 days wouldn't you be tempted to look for somewhere slightly more adventurous?
I know what you mean, but we don't want to travel too far. Have some cc from our cancelled cruise last year to iceland. Have to use it by 13 dec. Was waiting for 2023 and use it then and just book at the last minute next year when we can see how things are going, but cunard are not releasing 2023 until early next year. Havn't booked yet am also looking at copenhagen on QV and portugal on QV. TBH there isn't anything exciting next year

Just come back to our cabin after our second consecutive night eating in the buffet.
The venue was extremely crowded, as so many people have stopped going to the MDR, due to poor menu options.
One of the management team has said that they have had to assign more staff to the buffet, to cater for the extra demand.
Hopefully someone at Princess will take note.
Thought they would have got the food right by now. We were on regal 31st july (ist sailing) and there was a lot of people complaining about the food. Obviously havn't learnt any lessons.

Hamburg is on my wish list of ports I would like to do sometime on QM2. The things to see on my to-do list include:
Miniatur Wunderland
QM2 Lego Model at the Internationales Maritimes Museum
Ballinstadt Emigrant Museum
Perhaps an Elbe river cruise
I've been looking at that same voyage next year as part of a longer 23-night trip from New York primarily because it does offer two days in Hamburg. I don't think we'll have any problem filling up two days there if I do decide book that one.
The cruise I am looking at is next August. We embark Southampton then hamburg next is bruges then rotterdam and then hamburg again then back to Southampton
-
We are thinking about booking QM2 next year 9 nights Hamburg, bruges, rotterdam and then hamberg again and back to southampton. Any thoughts on this cruise. Bit concerned about going to Hamberg twice is there much to do.
-
Had a e-mail from drs to say they are doing booster jabs at their surgery. Cannot book yet as 180 days is 27th October. Booked for flu jab next sat 30th Oct. Hopefully they will do both.
