  1. Hi have to see my oncologist today for results of all my tests to see if my cancer has spread anywhere other than my spine.  ( had breast cancer 2013). Hubby in hospital with myeloma (blood cancer) so it is both of us. Son is awaiting further tests to see if he has ms like his eldest sister. My son in law who is married to my daughter with ms said even eastenders script writers couldn't top this. Fun times🤔.

No, not had my 4th injection yet. They said I am not entitled yet as I am not clinically vulnerable (I wasn’t req’d to shield in the first lockdown and NHS didn’t contact me) and I am under 75.

I have secondary progressive MS and would willingly have a booster tmoro

Same for my daughter she is also secondary progressive but cannot walk and has limited use of 1 hand. She wasn't contacted either in 1st lockdown and had to wait ages for her 1st jab. Had 1 booster but not a second one. I know she is only young (43 yesterday) but she also is extremely vulnerable. Must depend where you live and your dr's surgery. Her Dr didn't put her on the vulnerable list.🤥

Let her pop over the bridge for her fish & chips but you stay town side and do Rockfish.  Or try Quayside Bar & Kitchen, which has an unexciting ‘always’ menu but a fantastic daily chalkboard, with at least five fish specials.  Or The Crab House, which you’d almost certainly need to book, but has recommendations from Rick Stein etc.

We are going to weymouth next month for a long weekend with daughter, son in law and 3 grandkids. We are booked into rockfish on the saturday. Went there last year as well. Everytime my daughter goes away she has to find a rockfish.

Morning everyone, hope you are all ok today. The weather here looks good so far with clear blue skies. Looks like it could be a gardening day.

Well after arriving home from holiday Weds we both tested positive for you know what yesterday. Hubby had a bit of a sniffle so I told him to do a test which was positive. I had no symptoms but did a test and it was also positive. I received an email from NHS saying I can have anti virals because I am vulnerable, a Dr will be ringing me today.

    Have a nice day everyone

    Michelle

My eldest daughter who is severely disabled with ms had covid back in feb. She said she had had worse colds. Lets hope this is the same for you.

That’s interesting. The only ‘brochures’ that I get from P&O are more like summary pamphlets that merely list the cruises. No deck plans or anything. I wonder if you can get a proper brochure if you still have email communications as well? I’m not sure that I can be bothered to tackle the P&O website to see if that’s possible, especially as we aren’t inclined to make any more bookings beyond the few that we have!

I had a pando brochure last month with deck plans and everything and I didn't even order one 🙃

But what "proof" do you have with a NHS test ?

We had to do a lft test to visit MIL in care home. Had to go on NHS  app take a photo of the negative result and no of test and send,  they would then send a confirmation that test was negative which we showed to the home. But I don't think we can use nhs app for cruises

Have you been on either of the ships before ? Would that help the decision ?

Have been on QV once and QM2 3 times transatlantic, so haven't done a cruise on QM2 as such. Went round the med on QV. Like both ships but was wondering if QV would be better as can walk about at leisure apart from amsterdam. QM2 would probably need to do excursions.

  8. We were originally booked on the hamburg one. Had to transfer it yesterday to November as I am awaiting test results. Had breast cancer in 2013 and it has returned in my spine Had some tests and just waiting to see if it has spread elsewhere. So if results are OK as it is treatable but not curable I want to change it back to August. But am now thinking of the other one. Decisions decisions

  9. DH and I had covid back in january/february. Hubby tested positive for about 11/12 days. I was clear in 6 days. He caught it before me and was poorly for about 3 weeks. I caught it 2 days after him was poorly for 1 day and then just felt like a cold. Test positive on the saturday  and negative following thursday.

My Cunard for our August/September QM2 voyage also shows the second seating option as "Dine any time from 7.45pm, with last orders at 9.00pm. Reservations can be made daily on board."

However @lissie has reported her October cruise on QE is showing an 8pm fixed dining time for second seating.

Perhaps we can try to narrow down a date for a possible switch back to fixed second seating time for each ship, if that is indeed going to happen.

If you are on a voyage departing September 2022 or later, please post which ship you are on, your departure date, and what My Cunard is showing for your second seating option. That information can be found under "Booking Summary", "Your Dining Choice".

Of course there's no guarantee what My Cunard shows is gospel, but it might give us an indication of what Cunard is planning.

That's what I meant. When I booked last October I am sure  second seating was as normal but it changed at a later date.

Hello, thank you all for your kind thoughts.  Today is my first dip back into everyday life from what has been a surreal week.  I am far from mended but hopefully a corner has been turned in that I am at least out of bed this morning!  The journey has been rough and I will not hesitate to say not at all what I had expected from the talk of cold like symptoms.  The first 48 hours spent in dealing with a hacking cough, temperature and body aches were followed on Friday by a swollen throat which felt like a box of razor blades had been eaten. This in turn led to a complete airway blockage and collapse needing urgent medical intervention on two occasions - always the drama queen.  I have been lucky as anti viral drugs were allocated and these have helped.  This new variant is absolutely horrid if you catch it wrong.

There were 75 people attending the wedding on 12 March. By the 15 March 27 attendees were positive and over the week more have been falling and apparently now around 50% of attendees have tested positive or become ill. Based on this experience it is easy to see how super spreading is still going strong.

Sadly there will be no cruise for any of us on 1 April although having just been through all this I don't think any of us fancy being on a ship at present.

DH and I had the lurgy last month. I was in the just like a bad cold brigade but he was really poorly for about 3 weeks. I remember saying to him it was a good job he didn't get it before he had his injections.

  12. Had the results from my MRI on monday (only had MRI saturday) Breast cancer I had in 2013 has spread to my spine. Now have to wait for appointment to see oncologist. I am wondering about going on my cruise in august. Have bank insurance but that won't cover me now as they cannot cure it but they can treat it. Wondering if anyone in a similar situation can advise me about insurance. Obviously I will have to see oncologist first but only have until 23april to pay balance.

    Morning everyone.

Thank you Josy for all the work and time you have spent helping to get this virus under control.

It's very quiet down here this morning after all the winds of yesterday. I have just checked the weather forecast and there is now a flood alert out, due to the high tides!

I've got an early start this morning as I have to get up to Truro for 8.30am for a MRI scan. When that's down I'm going to take myself down into the town shopping as I was given some vouchers for Christmas.

Hope nobody has suffered any damage due the storms and that you are all safe. Enjoy your day.

    Pam

Snap. I also had an MRI this morning at 8.30. Longest hour of my life.

Thank you so much for your reports! We will be joining the QM2 on Sunday for a full 32 day cruise and it has been very reassuring reading your diary of what sounds like a fairly normal trip.

QM2 is leaving for the caribbean on tue 15th feb. Are you staying for 2 days in southampton.😁

we are over 70 but covered to 80 .   I know this is unusual these days .. we have had the same M&S premium cover for a long time from when it first came out.
I guess if either of us has serious health issues then we would no longer expect to receive the same cover and this will limit our travel.  However it is strange that the issues have come about since Covid when it’s always been the case that we travel as a couple and are insured against illness or accident to one or either of us.
Of the two instances in the past when we have had to claim for cancellation neither of us was ill. Sadly it was due to a terminal cancer diagnosis of parent and a sister.  We have always felt fully covered against unforeseen circumstances.
Whilst it’s possible to need quarantine it’s not expected and as such it’s an unforeseen event.

We have travel insurance with our bank underwritten by aviva. We are also covered until we are 80 years old. Only another 11 yrs to go for me and 15 yrs for hubby🤣

The balcony we had on Aurora was metal fronted with two iron railings above it, not the glass fronted type we've had on Arcadia, and it felt quite cramped. Don't always book balconies as quite happy with an inside depending on the length and destination of cruise as we mostly get showered/changed and sleep in them and spend the majority of our time out and about or sat on deck . I am aware there are differing types pf balcony on Aurora but this was what we got on that particular cruise

We had a metal fronted balcony with two irons railings but we were on oceana🤣

On the dress code sticky topic someone has pointed out that items are disappearing when using the Edge browser, but they show up if you use Chrome. Maybe the same issue?

    I'm using chrome😀
