Have sailed May, June and August. Saw the lights on 3 late August trips that stopped in Sitka during the first few days of September. Always between Sitka and Icy Strait late at night. If you have clear skies you should be able to see them.
There were plenty of whales on excursions out of both ports and I believe some are there year round. So probably not an issue. Hope you see both on your future trip!

Wow, I requested a refund on Jan 22 for my Med cruise in May on the Legend and my card was credited on Jan 29. Thanks for the heads up since I wasn't expecting it so soon!

I agree, pleasantly surprised that they didn't play chicken. I've had to play on other cruiselines.
Are you going to take the FCC + $600, or 100% refund?
I opted for the refund since I didn’t like the 2022 itinerary as much and I have a RCI cruise booked for next year already.

Just got my email and I am thankful that Carnival didn't wait until after final payment.

My May cruise on the Legend to the Med is still listed and can't imagine why it hasn't been canceled yet. 😕

We have printed confirmation of 4 cruises in 2022. Haven't logged in for months and probably won't bother for a long time.......
I only have the invoice copy from my TA but not worried. Lots of time!
Took me 8 months to book and passed on this year and moved on to 2022.

I made a new reservation yesterday for August 2022 and can't see it either. Tried to add it manually and it says the reservation # is incorrect. I will check it again in a couple of days and then ask the TA to double check it if there is still a problem 😕

My only problem with HAL’s site are that there aren’t any Europe cruises for 2022!
Have they announced the schedule to release? Getting ready to plan something myself.....

What Pat (Quickrate) said. It was a replacement for us. The 2020 Venice-Barcelona and Barca-Tampa sailings were more interesting itineraries (imo) and were a few more days, too. Oh well!
I know the Carnival loyalists will sail just because it's Carnival in Europe, but other lines do Europe all the time. And not necessarily more expensive than Carnival, either.
A TA at 50% capacity on a Spirit-class ship would be fabulous. They already have a much better space ratio than the rest of Carnival's fleet.
My May 17 sailing is unique and not offered by other lines. Price was very low for a balcony and although I prefer other lines I couldn't pass on the deal.....

I am hoping that by January the decision will be made since I have a May cruise booked. Final payment is due in February!

I wonder how many of us there are out there that believe we're done? I do very little posting but check in every once in a while to make sure I don't miss any cancellation news.
Very sad......

It’s gotten to the point that my wife and I are discussing a future without cruising. We are seriously considering going back to flying to destinations for future vacations, which we did before becoming addicted to cruising. We haven’t booked a trip yet, but if we go down that path, I have a feeling we likely won’t return to cruising.
I don't believe I will be returning to cruising either. Have visited some wonder ports since 1997 but I don't think cruising will ever be the same and I wouldn't enjoy wearing a mask or not being able to tour independently in Europe. So I am just waiting for Carnival to cancel the May sailings on the Legend and I start planning something else.

Was looking at options under this sale and was disappointed to see the $200 OBC reduced to $100 for solo passengers 🙁

Really great news!

There were multiple sailings to Med ports that have been cancelled and passengers are just now getting notified.
We all know that some changes/modifications are going to be made to future cruise itineraries and some ports will be more restricted than others going forward.
I choose my cruises based on itinerary and not the ship. Therefore changes may impact me more than others. So just sharing information here....nothing more.

The intent of my post was about international itinerary changes and not Carribean sailings.
I think at this point the action by one cruise line could be a sign of things to come. Many of us with cruises to Europe next year are making big plans which do not involve staying on the ship or being limited to cruise line excursions. So, even though itineraries changes were expected - this move is significant.
Staying hopeful at this point.....

Wonder about Carnival now. It doesn't look good for my May sailing to the Med on the Legend.....

I will cancel my 2021 cruises too. Don't want to make an investment in a vacation where I can't go where I want - when I get there....

Like I mentioned I had OBC that I was trying to use and of course hikes can be done independently.
This excursion was great and the guide was really engaging....so it was a very nice experience.

Ketchikan is such a beautiful place to hike. I will be there again next August and hope to try another one. If you have excess OBC like I did the Celebrity excursion is very nice. Not rushed, small group, and the guide was a Ketchikan native so he probably contracts every year.
Enjoy your time in Ketchikan!

I am pretty sure it was Ward Creek. The trail was very nice and mostly level. We were there in August and the salmon were visible from a viewing platform over the river. Lots of scat along the way but we encountered no bears.
Overall it was a very nice hike with only a few steep inclines.

This, I don’t trust the numbers...
We are having issues with reporting here in FL. Just last week a 6 yr old and an 18 yr old from different families received mail saying that they tested positive and neither had gone for a test.
I know of 2 cases personally where this has happened in the same family 🤨 So in addition to the testing reliability we have this issue.....

Glacier Bay is certainly impressive. Been there and loved it. BUT -- Tracy Arm can be exciting too. We had a beautiful day off the Solstice (in 2013) onto the small Explorer ship for a close up look at the Sawyer Glaciers (South and North) and to top it off a pod of Orcas gave us a terrific show.
This trip is on my short list! Been wanting to do this the next time I have a full day in Juneau!
Alaska northern lights small ship cruise options?

I guess I have been very fortunate then to see them between Sitka and Icy Strait when sailing the last few days of August into the first week in September.
Early August trips yielded no sightings....
