  1. I have always gotten notification from both Delta and American since I book early too.  I have activated this feature in my airline profiles.  So are email notifications not working?  Just so I know for future reference....

  2. I may have missed something somewhere but.......

After reading many posts on different threads I keep wondering if these same people that test negative now could test positive later?  With a known incubation period can the test determine that a person won't get the virus at all?  And wouldn't all passengers have to be tested?

Seems I read somewhere that people may not show symptoms at all but can be contagious.  Isn't that why the passengers on the Diamond Princess are being quarantined for 14 days?

  3. You don't mention what time your port times so are you looking to go before the whale watch or after?

Your tour operator may offer a drop off and there are shuttles from downtown that can be reserved with boarding any time all day long.

With more details I can try and offer more suggestions.

I wouldn't worry too much about the incorrect information on the website.  As we have seen lately Celebrity most times will refuse to honor things displayed and refers to the invoice for the "contracted" agreement.  Also the T&C for this and other "deals" are pretty specific about how NRD are handled.

Here is what my invoice says regarding a non-refundable deposit.

The minimum deposit for this reservation is Non-Refundable. A change fee of 100 USD per guest will apply for ship or sail date changes.

I also would never confirm a booking on their website.  I might place something on a 24hr hold, but then I always call and discuss the details and deposit on the phone.  Then I always have them send me the invoice and review BEFORE I hang up.  I always note the person I spoke with and the time as they record all calls.

I am just the opposite since I work with contracts and T’s and C’s daily.  So, I want to see everything in writing up front.  But I was able to check solo pricing which wasn’t great 😕

I agree but if you click on their cancellation rules it states they MAY charge up to 25% of the full cruise price after the day you book.  Now we have been told this is a computer glitch so why do they leave it in?   Very unsettling. I would attach it but not sure how to.

Agree and I see today's date as the start of the penalty period at 25% so I didn't finish my booking - no "may" in the wording.

  6. I was also considering the HAL 14 day itinerary but decided on the NCL Sun from Seattle.

A nice itinerary and the number of vacation days worked for me.  Not enough time in Juneau for Adventure Bound though....

I am rethinking the 14 day HAL after looking into each port (and others).  I am still open to it, but as I've never been/seen have to really research to compare places wondering if it's hitting the "must see" list.

Not luxury, but NCL does a hubbard and glacier bay cruise and I was thinking of just staying in seward(?) area for 2 nts to have time to explore seward and possibly a day trip to do 26 glaciers at PWS (?)

I was thinking of making sure I see Glacier Bay over hubbard, but would love both!   I think, from research, College Fjord is a great "must see" ( Tracey arm not so much?) as well as lots of great stuff in Seward.   Going in late july not sure how much snow capped mts we'll get, but that's what I'm looking for...light family style walks/hiking in gorgeous nature with lots of wildlife (sealions, whales, moose) and glaciers!

But...are any if these places are just as "wow" from the 14 day cruise...that would be good to know....keitchikan (on our own totem poles and walking tongrass area), Tracey arm cruising, haines/skagway (whitepass), icy point (whale tour), inian islands cruising, Anchorage (glacier excursion), homer (kayak), Valdez (Columbia Meares Glacier), hubbard cruising, Juneau (on own glacier explore), misty fjords cruising.

    Thanks!

Not sure when you prefer to travel but my next cruise is on the NCL Sun.  It has a great itinerary (my main focus) but doesn't go as far as Seward.  There are 11 and 12 night sailings later in the season too.  You can't go wrong with Princess or HAL in Alaska either!

    05/21 Seattle, Wa

After reading this thread, I looked into Glacier Wind tours.  Was impressed by all the positive reviews.  SO I called and capt Shawn's wife answered my numerous questions :).  Ended up booking for our Aug trip.  Seeing as the boat only 6 passengers, was really glad i booked so far ahead!

    Thanks ya'll!

You will have a great day with Captain Shawn.  Booked my second trip with them for May 2020 :classic_biggrin:

  9. Have seen them twice on cruises leaving at the end of August.  This year was the best when sailing on the Millennium from Vancouver - August 30th.   They were visible 2 nights in a row - leaving Sitka and then again between Icy Strait and Juneau.

Hadn't seen them since I was a kid in Michigan so it was a real treat to see them at sea. :classic_biggrin:

  10. Have returned to FL from Rome a few times and never had an issue getting home the same day to Tampa - usually by 8:30 pm.  You didn't mention what ship you are looking at and what time it arrives in Civitavecchia.   Arrival times are usually early enough to make an 11 am flight with ease with a prearranged taxi.

We will be cruising in June and our flight gets in at 9:30 pm.  By the time we get our luggage it will probably be 10:15 and 12:15 our time back home.  I have originally want to book a hotel close to port but I think we are going to be exhausted and probably would like a hotel near the airport so we can crash.   Our grown son will be joining us so there are three of us.

Number one: I need to find the hotel...     I just looked up the PanPacific.  With taxes, that is over $550 for the night.  Pricey.  If we were getting in early in the afternoon, I would not mind but that seems like too much just to sleep.

Number two:   figure out how to get to port.   Taxi, Uber, or train.    We love trains but not sure if we should bother - Probably have at least one suitcase and carry on each.   How easy is it to get the train?  Do we need to go back to the airport from the hotel?  or is that too much of a hassle.    And how far is away from the port is the drop off location?        I have a feeling the taxi will be the easiest.

There are three ships in port that day so we figured we would wait until 1 to head over.

Thanks you so much for any suggestions.

Keep watching the Pan Pacific!  About 3 months before I cruised in August the price came down to $233 US before taxes.  I have seen that in past years too but I couldn't take advantage.   This year I booked a hotel that would work as back up with the intent to cancel if needed (and I did).  I will always stay at the Pan Pacific before future cruises out of Vancouver because the room was so comfortable and the location too good to beat.  Loved the luggage service to the port and not needing an additional taxi in the morning to get to the pier.  We also arrived on a late flight (9:30 pm) but arrived at the hotel before 11 pm and were well rested the next morning while enjoying a Starbucks coffee downstairs before boarding the ship :classic_biggrin:

Great minds think alike, we are October, would love some feedback if you remember 😊

Good to hear you have not had problems with white space as the only thing that worried me was incase the white space was staff access doors that might be in regular use, I hope they are maybe linen stores.

I will come back and let you know since this is my first sideways cabin experience!

I have sideways 8331 booked for my Alaska next year, I chose this room because it does not adjoin another room, there is white space shown all around the room.

I just picked this same cabin for Alaska in May and for the same reason!

I haven't had any issues in the past with white spaces around my cabin....only public areas above and below.  Hope we both love the cabin!

Yes, I'm a year out. But I did manage to get one booked for $149 at the Hilton Sea Tac and Conference Center. They off a free airport shuttle and a shuttle to port for a small fee. I got a courtyard view.

Can you tell me what the shuttle schedule and price was to the port?  This may be my best option as a solo traveler.

    Thanks!

  16. Received an itinerary modification this week for the Crown Princess - July 25.  They will be using water shuttles in the fjords....
