  1. Whenever I travel, I take a few minutes every night to load all the photos from that day onto my iPad. I have an adapter that connects my SD card to the lightening port on my iPad, so I upload the photos each night in case anything happens to my camera or SD card so I don't lose my photos from earlier days in the trip. Once it's on the iPad, I can use any app to edit the photos if I want to 🙂
  2. Since it was a land vacation with no need for an underwater camera, I left my TG-5 at home and used an old Cannon point and shoot for most of my photos. It was the camera I bought for my Mediterranean cruise in 2013 so definitely not the most current technology but it did the trick. I also took a bunch of photos on my iPhone 8 (especially towards the end of the trip when we were in England) because I actually thought the photos came out better on the iPhone. For my last few reviews, I've included some sneak peaks of the photos that will be part of the review, but in an effort to
  3. Yup, it was just like all of my other looong cruise reviews... It was 18 pages in total, but probably would have been more if it was in a cruise line forum instead of a Europe forum so more people could have seen it and replied. Here's a link if you want to take a look (or if you are bored and looking for something entertaining to read!)
  4. Hi Kim! I was just thinking "I wonder what Kim is up to now that cruising is cancelled" and then I stumbled upon this thread! Last summer, I posted a thread in the Paris forum where I wrote it up like my usual journal-style day-by-day cruise reviews even though I didn't take a cruise on that trip. No one seemed offended that I was posting a review like that without taking a cruise. I justified it because Paris is a cruise port (well, sort of... it's a few hours drive from Le Harve... close enough!), and many cruisers stay in London before/after cruises leaving from Southampton, so I though
  5. Thanks for the shout out, Crystal! I second those recommendations, and I'll add @mitsugirly to the list. She has soooo many reviews and they are all filled with photos and tons of fun to read!
  6. Great idea, Norris! I actually just re-read both of your Alaska reviews a few months ago when I was planning for my Alaska cruise this summer... sadly, that cruise was cancelled, but it was still fun to see Alaska through your lens. I hope you and Carol are staying healthy!!
  7. These are not from cruises on NCL because I've never sailed with them, but I have written several looooong detailed photo reviews from my cruises on Carnival, Celebrity, and Paul Gauguin (in Tahiti). Hopefully these can help keep you entertained until the cruising season resumes! Click on this link and it will give you a list with links to all of my Cruise Critic reviews 🤩 https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSNrw3faZpEFh1SRctIlj1_Vt0qMsA7xnShULzcoUzPUJpN4_0Oc9FjhaktzAfaMvN9_-8uEccsLMkq/pub
  8. What a wonderful surprise from your wife! I am too much of an OCD planner to give up that much control haha I like to know what I am doing each day/night of my vacation so I can plan/pack accordingly. Funny enough, John Heald (brand ambassador for Carnival Cruises) posted nearly this exact same question as a poll on FB last week. He asked if people would be interested in booking a cruise on the Carnival Breeze with 3 mystery ports of call, and the response seemed positive. I think most of those people just liked sailing on the Breeze and knowing that they had lots of fun option
  9. Hi Crystal! I'm so glad I found your review, but it looks like I have some catching up to do!! Hope you and Nate had a wonderful cruise and I look forward to reading all about it 😎 🌴 🌞
  10. Wow, crazy! I have been re-reading your Alaska review (since when I read it a year and a half ago, I never imagined I'd actually be going to Alaska, and now I need to re-read it and take notes! lol) and here you are, replying to my question! Thanks so much for all of your advice, it is greatly appreciated! You have all convinced me... we booked the canoe tour! I was able to book on Viator for the same price as booking directly through the tour company, but Viator lets you cancel up to 24 hours in advance with no penalty versus the tour company who charges a fee to cancel. Thank
  11. Thanks for all of your replies. Yes, I am positive the canoe tour takes us to hike ON the glacier. It specifically says so in the tour description, plus I've read lots of reviews with photos online. The same company also offers a similar tour for half the price which only does the canoe and does not walk on the glacier. I agree that 25-50 people on the whale watching boat is not ideal. What I like about that tour is they give us as much time at Mendenhall Glacier as we want because there are shuttles running back to the cruise port every hour. That would give us t
  12. 2 adults visiting Juneau in Mid-August, which would you pick and why? 1) 2 hours of whale watching with 25-50 people on the boat, then visit Mendenhall Glacier (visitor center, hike to Nugget Falls, would only get views of the glacier), cost: $150pp 2) 1 hour canoe paddle across Lake Mendenhall, 1-1.5 hours hiking on the glacier, then 1 hour canoe paddle back, about 15 people on the tour, cost: $350pp Both companies get excellent reviews online, both are about 5 hours long, both have flexible cancellation policies, and both would be booked privately (not through
  13. Congrats Crystal and Nate!!! I was thinking about you guys yesterday and hoping you had the wedding of your dreams! You looked stunning and I'm so happy to hear everything went perfectly. Cheers to a long and happy marriage filled with lots of cruises together 🍾👰🤵💖
  14. Oh wow! Thanks Peggy! Great job finding out their name!! You got a wonderful photo of them too. Hope you had a great trip 🙂
  15. OMG! I LOVE your dress!!! It's gorgeous!!! Can't wait to see photos of you in it standing next to your new hubby in his suit next week! 👰 🤵 🍾 💍 💐
  16. Thanks for posting another wonderful review! Looks like you had an amazing time 😎 Now you can focus on getting all those little details completed before your wedding!! Please come back and post photos of the big day and tell us how it went!
  17. Just watched your video... I've been using packing cubes for over a decade. I even use them for short weekend trips! They make cross packing super easy... I split up all of our shirts/bottoms/underwear/shoes into 2 piles for each of us, then we each use our own packing cubes so each of our 2 checked bags has half my stuff and half DH's stuff. We put our toiletries in separate suitcases so if one bag gets lost, at least we can share the toiletries from the other bag (...until we can find a drug store to buy replacements! haha). We are lucky that we have never lost a bag, but I'll always cro
  18. Whew! I'm finally all caught up and OMG! Your photos from that excursion in Flam are AMAZING!! Norway hasn't really been on my radar, but I've just added it to my bucket list. As always, thank you for taking the time to write up such a wonderful review. I can't wait to read the rest!
  19. Welcome home Crystal! I've been eagerly awaiting your review so I'm here for the long haul!! 🚢 😍
  20. Thanks Kim! Your compliments just made MY day! I've used my TG5 on 3 cruises and that was the best over/under photo that I've taken... I actually have an 8x10 print of that photo framed on the wall in my living room. The key is to be in calm water when you can stand with your feet on the ground, and I've only encountered that perfect water in French Polynesia where there shallow lagoons with tons of fish and very clear water. I love my TG5 and I'm very happy with the photos it takes. I never owned the TG4 but from what I can remember of the research I did between the 2 cameras
  21. No Way!! Jose was our assistant waiter on the Eclipse in March 2108!! That was a 14 night cruise, and we were seated in his section nearly every night... he was wonderful! So glad to see he is doing well and still working for Celebrity 🙂 I'm a little behind in reading your review because I was out of town for a week, but I'm getting caught up now. As always, you're doing a fabulous job and I'm loving your review!
  22. Awww Kim, I’m so sorry to hear you have been in such pain from the infection. I have been thinking about you and wanted to check in to see how you are doing. Sending you this fun over/under photo from French Polynesia, taken with the TG-5 fisheye lens (bought on your recommendation, of course!), in hopes to bring you a smile!
  23. Hi Cruise Critics! Some of you may “know” me from reading the very long and detailed photo reviews I have written about my cruises for the last 9 years. In fact, every major vacation I have taken in that time has been on a cruise ship, and I have written a review for every one of those trips. It made me kind of sad when I realized that my big vacation for the summer of 2019 would not be on a cruise! As much as I love cruises, I wanted the opportunity to explore two of Europe’s greatest cities, and that was better suited for a land trip to give us the most time possible in those cities. On
  24. Hi Everyone! My name is Dana, and my husband and I just returned from a fabulous 14-night cruise on the Celebrity Eclipse (March 4-18, 2018 sailing). As you can see from my cruise history listed below in my signature, I have taken several Carnival and Celebrity cruises in the last few years, and we just returned home from our honeymoon in French Polynesia six months ago. I always write a detailed photo review when I return home from my cruises, with a journal-style day-by-day format. This cruise will be no different! If you are looking for a short and sweet review, you might want to look
