  1. Yes, we are in a forward suite. Our last cruise on the GA in the Haven I remember they had someone right their as we walked onto the ship from our muster station to scan our cards. I don't miss not going to the muster drill. It was always a cluster trying to get out of the area once it wrapped up. It was also burn me up with about 25% of the people not being able to shut up for 10 minutes while it's going on and causing delays
  2. Just did our online check in for our cruise in three weeks. I think this is the first time our photos uploaded without a hitch. Last cruise I must have spent a half hour trying to get them to work (same photos as the cruise before). Finally worked, we arrived at the pier to check in and get our cabin cards. The woman said we need to take your photos again. I wanted to say no you are not I spent a half hour doing and you are using them Lol I watched the safety video, I wonder how many emails we will get to watch it again, and again lol
  3. I am only assuming its kept somewhere. Before our last cruise two years ago I had to call because of a problem. One of their customer service people asked if my passport ended it XYZ. Maybe thats all they had maybe they had the whole thing
  4. Yup.... Escape all the way
  5. Very easy, NCL has my birthdate and passport number on file. Along with my cell number, home number and address
  6. Quick story of my teens. A family friend, a wealthy family friend owned a wholesale auto dealership. I worked for him for 5 summers 82-87 in HS and college. We went around to car auctions buy cars, detailing them and moving them out. Dave the owner had a stable of vintage race cars. On the weekends he would race at tracks like Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Mid Ohio. Not only did I get to drive at these tracks he paid for some race classes. It was a freaking blast. One of the perks of the job was I got a car to use 7 days a week. I drove everything from pickups to Triumphs and everything in-between. At that time he had about a dozen cars in his collection. My favorite was his 1969 Lamborghini Miura with a V12 side winder engine its still the most beautiful car I have ever seen. I always joked to him about how he was going to leave me that car when he passed. I never did get the car but in those four years I learned a huge amount about cars and have had a blast. I was also the envy of every single one of my guy friends. I made a point of getting a photo of myself next to every cool car I drove. I one point I had over 100 pictures. Unfortunately those pictures were lost in a fire in college. I saw a 69 Miura go up for sale last year, it sold for 1.4M Now back to the cruise......
  7. Will be leaving on the Gem on the 28th. Let me know if their are any photos or video you want to see. As of now they only two video walk thru I have planned are the Thermal Spa and our forward suite on deck 10.
  8. I love the Jewel class ships. However if you are staying in the Haven I would be on the Escape
  9. A few weeks ago I went to look at 2010 93 Areo with 16K miles on it at a dealership here in PA that specializes in Saab's. It was dam near mint condition. They were asking 25K which was behind my budget for that car. My 2008...
  10. I hear you, my nice weather ride is a 2008 Saab 93 convertible. I absolutely love it. 100K issue free miles. I was heartbroken when Saab shut down
  11. Interesting, thanks for the info
  12. Off the topic question.... How is the ship powered when they are in dry dock? I'm assuming all of ships internal engines are water cooled from the sea
  13. IDK about Travis but Jason is a nice guy
  14. Taylor Swift can sit on my lap and serenade all she wants LOL
  15. These adapters work great. Been using them for years on cruises and when we travel abroad https://amzn.to/4aLecEj
  16. We ran into the same issue in St Lucia on the Getaway. We were there with the Epic and a Carnival ship. All of us docked about the same time. We made the mistake of signing up for a beach excursion. The beach was 5 miles away. It took us over 90 minutes to get to the beach with traffic, this after the busses were already 45 minutes wait due to traffic. So our excursion which was supposed to give us 4 hours on the beach turned into less than two hours. While back on the ship so many people complained about it we all got a full refund
  17. Thats strange, the Sun is older but still a nice ship. Alaska cruises seem to book 100% months out
  18. Ugh.... sucks about the car. Thanks, we absolutely adore my new soon to be daughter in law
  19. Busy is good, I have a bad fault of getting things together too early. I already have our snorkeling gear / beach stuff packed. I will most likely end up going back in a few weeks to check on it, did I pack this or that Lol. My son just got engaged over the weekend and we were down in Alexandria for that this weekend
  20. I have a half dozen backpacks, however my go to the last few years has been this one. If fits my MBP and most of my camera gear, best its pretty comfortable https://amzn.to/45730AJ
  21. Condolences to you and your family This could be a great way to honor your wife and enjoy time with your daughter. A very similar thing happened with a friend of mine
  22. Unfortunately sometimes you just need to bang on the right doors. A number of years back my wife and I were on the Dawn for a 7 day cruise. Day one our room steward tells us the refrigerator is not working. Not a huge problem but I do like keeping drinks in there. Before we left port I went to guest services, told them the issue and I got a lot of nods. One day later nothing has happened so I go back down to GS. Now they tell me it can't be fixed and they don't have any replacements, OK.... guess will have to live with it. We receive a cheap bottle of wine. Later that afternoon we are invited in the Captains cocktail party which we attend. While standing around with a drink in our hands who comes over to us and ask how our cruise is going? The Captain and maybe even better yet the hotel director. I give the hotel director the cliff notes version of the story, the Captain doesn't look too pleased. He asked for our names and cabin number. I kid you not, by the time we got back to our cabin 20 minutes later not only was the fridge fixed.... it was brand new Lol
