Yes Colin, it ended.  In June while booking a cruise at HAL office in NL it was exactly the same amount in €€ as in $$. I made a remark during that telephone call and asked whether it was a mistake in my account on the website. It was not. So I decided not to pay in advance, but to pay via the on board statement.

Yes I remember now that you posted that, Lenny.

However, I have just checked a cruise I have booked for next year and for the 13 days in Verandah although the fare includes HIA+, the Pre Paid Crew Appreciation shows a price per person of €207.21 which is a rate of $1 = €1.065.  Perhaps they have reinstated the rate.

And in Eu/NL the crew appreciation in EU = € 17 per day and in USA $17 per day. Difference of about 8%.....

Er, no Lenny it's not!  Crew Appreciation is charged in USD and is the same as US, but if you pre pay then the price quoted is in the currency of the booking.  The exchange rate is another thing and I believe that the previous beneficial exchange rate (for EU bookings) has ended in recent months.

I have booked a trip with a UK agent that includes an HA cruise. I attempted to purchase add ons on the HA website using my cruise ID. Every selection for specialty dining, excursions, WIFI, various beverage packages etc. were, as expected in US's as advertised. However the HIAP was quoted in UK pounds. Instead of the $55 per day or $770 for the 14 days, it was £770.00??

    PACKAGES
    £770.00

It probably offers you the option to pre pay Crew Appreciation and that will also be in £

  4. Different markets!

As you booked with a UK agent HAL is logically presuming you are in the UK as they have no prior record of you.

HIA is different prices in different markets.  Also it includes different elements.

In Europe it is €65 per day including Crew Appreciation, in UK it is £55 per day including Crew Appreciation, in US it is $55 per with no Crew Appreciation.

  5. We used Spain Day Tours for a half day tour (no Sagrada Familia) but free time at Parc Guell and then they dropped us to the ship for boarding.  We pre arranged the drop off and permission for luggage to stay on the bus while on walkabout.

This info is available on many platforms. But what does the SECOND letter mean and other than VH is lowest and VA is highest. WHAT do those letter SPECIFICALLY stand for?

They don't 'specifically' stand for anything.  It is for categorization. They used from A - H.  They could just as easily have use numerics 1 - 8. Or any combination.

Also this is our first TA, and we were wondering if there is a meeting place or sign up sheet for people who like to play card games (such as Quiddler, Bid 500, or Phase 10, etc.).

You will find this at your Roll Call.

My phone and tablet chargers plugged into the end of a extension cord is all I've ever done. Minus the extension cord onboard a ship. I do see they come apart.

Those are usb chargers.  Just get an adapter and plug them into the adapter or get a EU type USB charger and just plug the cable into it.  You will be able to pick both of them up easily either at the airport when you arrive (more expensive) or close to the hotel where you stay.

As I said above I've never used a usb to charge. I guess you remove the plug in part of the charge cord? This TA is really pushing me! .. I'm guessing from looking at your picture.

With a Samsung tablet and phone then you are already using USB charging.  Is the cable (that you connect to the tablet or phone)  a separate piece of cabling that you plug the small end into your device and the large end into a plug?

    Like this:

and the bit that you plug into your electric socket like this?

Then all you need do is purchase the adapter shown in post #11 and use the cable that you already have.

Ok I'll look for one that looks like that. Royal allows simple plug in things.

I have a Samsung tablet and phone. Nothing unusual I will need to charge. Otherwise I cant take pictures. I'll save a screen shot of that one.

As they use a USB cable to charge why not get something like this.  You could even pick it up in a shop when you arrive!

    500 euros for 4 adults.

At that price difference I would be inclined to 'risk it again' as it may be a different driver and being forwarned I would insist on a more sedate approach to the driving.  (Background is that DW has osteoporisis and was also in recovery after mastectomy and chemo, so was quite fragile and I was perhaps over protective).

If there is a next time we will probably use the train!

Thank you. That is the company we received a quote from. There are so few reviews on any of the Venice transfer companies. Our hotel can arrange for one, but their quote was over 900 euros.🤦‍♀️

In June 2022 the price was 245 euro for a Mercedes E class, but they arrived with a MB vito van.

    How much is your quote?

  13. @firefly333 there are a couple of things to consider.  First and most important is the voltage of the device you want to connect.  Europe runs at 220volts whereas America runs at 120volts.  Ensure the device is labeled for dual voltage, otherwise you will have a burn out if you plug it into the European electricity.

Secondly the 'adapter' is relatively simple and is just a method of plugging your two flat pins into the two round holes in the European system. No need for cables!

    Venice Shuttle

There are quite a few companies with similar names. A Google search immediately throws up a couple of similar names e.g. Venice Shuttle and Venice Shuttle Service.

I just wanted clarity on the name of the business before I posted unfavourable comments.

In June 2022 (just after the restart) we used a company titled "Venice Shuttle SNC" using the web address www.veniceshuttle.it for a transfer from our hotel in Mestre to Trieste cruise port.  Although the driver arrived promptly (actually 15 minutes before the scheduled time) and the van was spotlessly clean, we had the worst transfer.  The driver told us the trip would take 1 hour 38 minutes according to google maps and then proceeded to try to prove google maps wrong by driving exceptionally and unnecessarily  fast and doing a lot of lane meandering.  I asked him to slow down and he did slow for a short while and then gradually increased his speed until I repeatedly had to ask him to slow.  It wasn't until we left the autostrade and took the coast road for the final section of the journey that it became enjoyable.

So, personnally I would not recommend that company.

Has anyone used this company to transfer from Venice to the Trieste Port?

What is the name of the shuttle company or its website?

    get an apt

That is one of the main problems.  Short term apartment rental has decimated the availability of apartments for locals to rent on a long term basis.  Air Bnb etc has made the problem worse as property owners are opting for the high value short term lets over the long term residential type lets.  So when you say "get an apt, live like locals", the locals cannot afford to live in the city anymore so you are not living like a local.

I am concerned that the Rotterdam January 10-17 is a retrofit for Rudi’s to Morimoto.  The reason I don’t think it’s a charter is because when you go to the port Everglades cruise port schedule, on both January 10 or 17th there is no arrival or departure time for the Rotterdam. It is not listed at all.

Ok, but it has to arrive back from the December 29th Panama 12 day cruise, so PE is missing that information also for January 10th.

    It is a charter!

I missed that it is not a full charter, but a group on the cruise we wish to book.  Inspiration Live Like no One Else Cruise is with Ramsey.   Thanks VMax1700

Lenny,  this morning, with clearer eyes, I can see the problem.  It is a charter, but only for one week (22 March - 29 March) and not a five week charter, as shown on the list (22 March - 29 April🙄

    Apologies!
