  1. On now for 22 day voyage. Internet has been out for six of the last 8 days. I addressed it to the captain last night and he said he was unaware of it before talking to some other people a few moments before I spoke to him.

Many guests were upset. It is working now and I hope it keeps working but this is unacceptable for a relatively new ship  especially since I paid a premium price for it.

I did get a refund for the days it was offline but the internet manager seems overwhelmed and unable to get a handle on the problem.

There is a website that is not a TA but you can enter a given cruise and a cabin category and you will get bids from a variety of TA.  I've used to to check prices but I caution you that not all the TAs are equal,so I would never recommend booking the cheapest rate, you may get what you paid for...  but as a research tool it's been useful to me.  Cruise compete.

We always use cruise compete for a first check. Not always cheapest BUT you get multiple quotes and a good reference price for what you want. Even used when xferring a cruise booked onboard.

I agree, we have already been on two Riviera River Cruises, and will again be joining them in April this year. I really like their brand, they seem to have it just right, with included excursions, really nice boats and pleasant staff. It would be great to chat to others regarding Riviera to gain tips and info.

    SALADMUCHER, How was your cruise?

A friend is doing the Danube in May & we are doing same in October on William Wordsworth.

  5. Didn't see Riviera mentioned that has a relatively new fleet and new entrant. A friend is gong on Riviera Danube cruise in May and we are going in October on a new ship (2018) for our cruise. The few reviews are mostly good. TA threw in wine @ lunch & dinner that you have to pay extra for if book directly w/ Riviera.

  6. Got 3300 pesos at HSBC ATM one block from the hotel. Easy peasy but they did charge approximately $10 us. It lasted us all two weeks . We also used cards. Taxis cheap no need to figure out public transport.

    Great trip. Loved BA

Looking at a 14 day in early December and would appreciate ANY experiences or opinions. (Note - this would be an OV cabin in Celebrity.)

We are booked on the December 9th Cruise and prices are great. A balcony is about as cheap as an outside. Coming up on final payment and there is still a lot of cabins left so prices may drop further.

Come join us looks like fun

  8. Does anyone know if the Argentinian economic crisis has had any effect on cruising to/visiting that country?
I have followed this closely since we have a December cruise out of Buenos Aires. The Argentinians are suffering with a high inflation rate and depreciating currency. However yesterday may have reached the turning point when the Argentine peso hit 41 to the dollar. This morning it is 38 to the dollar. But one day doesn't make a trend.

The teachers are striking and others but strikes are common in Argentina. Hope it is resolved soon and they can turn the economy around.

We look forward to inexpensive steak dinners and enjoying the beautiful country of Argentina.

  9. The only time we ever booked the Concierge was when we were trying to amass Elite points. The benefits seem very slight so if you are happy with the 2B and don't need the points, I would recommend you stay put

That is way we are leaning (stay 2B) since we are Elite and don't need points. Long way from Elite+ but if prices drop we are open to moving. Time will tell.

    Thanks

  10. On 14 day Eclipse SAmerica cruise & have a 2B in a location we like, near back elevator. Guarantee Concierge is now priced at same as 2B.

Never been in Concierge and we never book under an activity deck

Other info: a C3 is ~$400 more than a 2B for 2 people. There are still lots of cabins available in C3, 50 as of now. I don't want to pay for a C3 at the $400 rate. Final payment is 5 days away and prices have come down $600 since booking in May:). Expect price reductions after final pay with the amount of cabins available.

Not sure about upgrading after final pay. Booked thru large online agency & they have been good about price reductions.

Question: would you opt for upgrade to guarantee C?

    Any suggestions or strategy?
