  1. we did a 7 night Equinox cruise out of Miami last December ( week before Christmas) in Aqua cabin with drinks package included for just over £1000

    all in

In general the cheapest time to cruise is between Thanksgiving and Christmas for United States Cruisers. We looked at South American cruises while on board a recent eclipse cruise and they were all 4000 per person for a basic veranda. Once we got back we realized that a cruise from Buenos Aires to Buenos Aires between Thanksgiving and Christmas was much cheaper just over $100 per day per person They still have a lot of cabins empty so hoping to get below that magic hundred dollars per day time will tell.

  2. You make some very good points and appreciate your sharing your insight. My dilemma occurred with a total inability to speak to the claims processor as none of them took phone calls. It was all through a middle person so no explanation could be provided despite their request for additional information.

Some receipts and documentation were submitted at least 3x which could lead one to believe there was some “dragging of the feet” occurring.

Fortunately the outcome for us was full reimbursement but in the process we decided to take our business elsewhere and not purchase through Insure my Trip and Trip Insurance Store despite their popularity.

Did you ask insure my trip to get involved? We had a claim several months ago and we were being slow walked. We asked insure my trip to get involved, they did and it was resolved within a week.

Having a distributor such as insure my trip or square mouth is an advantage in my opinion because they will go to bat for you and you don't have to fight with the insurance company. The insurance company wants to be listed on their site and can't risk being delisted. Makes sense.

  3. It has always been both on the TSs I took when there were a large # of Elites. 1600 of us recently on the Eclipse and we enjoyed happy hour in the Sky lounge but had the option of using our cards to get drinks at other bars and also we got the benefit in the MDR
We were also on the eclipse and really like the option of having a drink in the dining room from the three loaded into the sea pass card. I would love to have celebrity continue to do that.

Is that only for transatlantic or were there is a huge number of Elites and above?

  4. We are part of a private excursion in the Azores. We have to pay euros in cash. My husband has hurt his leg. Walking around before excursion looking for a bank atm not desirable. We’ve been to Azores several times, but I don’t remember how far from ship to town is. I do remember walking uphill quite a bit. I’m just trying to avoid anymore hassle than necessary. That’s all.

Have the Excursion people drive you to a bank at the end of the Excursion to get Euros. That's what we plan to do.

  5. I just realized that I forgot to order euros from BOA and we’re leaving on Thursday for our TA to Dublin. Is it possible to get them onboard?

    Thanks in advance

On same Cruise plan to get Euros from ATM in Ponta. Make sure it's a bank ATM for best rates.

  6. We have credit card insurance, but are still insuring our next trip with “cancel any reason” due to potential family health issues. We probably over-insured, but this is a more expensive overseas cruise.

    We used Nationwide from InsureMyTrip.com.

Agree with using insure my trip and square mouth. The advantage of them is that you have a distributor acting in your behalf if there's any issue with the insurance company. We just had a claim and the insurance company was slow-walking us. A call to insure my trip got the process resolved in a week. I just got the check.

  7. A question, are you keeping the cruise you have already booked and booking a second cruise or just changing cruises? If you are just changing the booking Celebrity may allow you to carry the OBC from them to a new cruise but I doubt they would split their OBC between two cruises, just too much bookkeeping and too many chances for things to get lost. If you are looking at a second booking talk to your TA about shifting the OBC. When a TA gives you OBC or pre-paid grats they are simply taking some of their commission and giving it back to Celebrity to credit to your account. As jelayne said, OBC from your TA is often refundable if you don't spend it so it is as good as cash in hand really. Once you are on your cruise then Celebrity will use your non-refundable OBC before they touch the refundable.

Yes looking to book a second Cruise and transfer some of the OBC from the first. Keeping both cruises.

  8. Who did you book the cruise you want to move OBC to with, if it was the TA same you may have a shot.

Often OBC from a TA is refundable so if you don't use it on the cruise you get the unused OBC refunded to your Credit card. Before trying to move the OBC from your TA find out if refundable, if it is just don't spend it and use it on your future cruise.

I meant to say that I booked on board with Celebrity. That's who I booked the original cruise with before transferring to another TA who gave me the 350 additional OBC.

  9. We booked a Celebrity cruise for January on the reflection and got $500 OBC from celebrity. Then transferred to a non-celebrity agent and got an additional $350 OBC.

Now I would like to transfer some of that OBC to another Celebrity Cruise. Celebrity tells me that the OBC is tied to the cruise and can't transfer. Haven't contacted the outside TA to see what they would say.

Before I contact the TA I need your expert help on finding ways to transfer some of the OBC to the new Cruise. Any suggestions will be well received.

  10. I am looking at Grandeur's tour that is shown as 1 hr. 45 min. Not really interested in getting off, just sight seeing. We usually do things on our own or an private tour, but we need to use some OBC.

We are also seniors upper 70s/60s & are doing on a Saturday which will probably have less traffic.

By not getting off you miss a lot IMO - pix @ Cheers, US Constitution ship & museum, freedom trail places, etc.

If the OBC is refundable use it to pay for the probably cheaper HOHO direct ~$75 for 2 seniors.

  11. Transit - definitely. Both bagel spots are close to each other, with Schwartz's easy to hit en route to or from (but it would be at least a 2 hour walk there and back). Google Map listing all of them, currently set to Walk as Transit doesn't allow multiple destinations - pick one at a time and click the Bus icon to see your choice of buses.

If you wanted to burn some calories you could stuff yourself in Schwartz's, pick up bagels from either or both S-V&F for later, walk up the 'mountain' of Mont Royal (which is laughably tiny in height, but does give great views over low-lying Montreal below, and the Oratory is impressive) and then come back through downtown through universities/museums/more churches and wend your way back to the pier.

Thanks for map link. Staying close to port. :)

  12. A couple of questions for our upcoming cruise.

We will be coming from the airport on bus 747 & staying at the Le Petite in old town. It looks like JEANNE-MANCE is the closest stop to the hotel. Is that correct & will there be taxis available there or is another stop preferable?

In earlier part of this thread, it was said that Bus715 is specifically geared to tourists. I looked at the bus route but not sure which stop is closest to hotel.

    Merci
