My friend decided to adopt another kitty. No name assigned as yet...

I suggested "Samba", since one of the other kitties is a Siamese called "Sushi" (the other one is called Lychee), and we have a very popular chain of restaurants called "Sushi Samba".

So now I have another [step]kitty to be proud of 😍

So adorable. Is it my imagination or does the kitty have short looking legs?

Some of the work drama from yesterday poured into this morning. Also, I believe that something is about to come to a head with the "Chaka situation". He doesn't seem to see it when he "goes rogue", but some of the other guys (including me) are ready to revolt against this idiot.

In other news: I got a call from "C" last night. She wants to try and plan a cruise going to Celebration Key, which I honestly know next to nothing about. That conversation led to my upcoming cruise on the Horizon, and now it looks like we're going to fly down to Ft Lauderdale, and she's going to rent a car and drive me down to Miami and hang out for awhile, then stay down till the next day and fly back home. Then, the next weekend she's going to fly down again to do some stuff and drive me back to Ft Lauderdale to fly home Sunday afternoon...

Keep in mind I didn't suggest any of this, she just wanted to get away anyway... So, this morning I booked my flights to and from there, which still came out to $472, but remember I got that check in the mail last week for almost $500, so it's basically a "free flight" for me...

Anyhoo, I'm just trying to survive the Tuesday work day here at the 'ol salt mine, and hopefully things don't spiral further out of control than they already have... All this while I'm also trying to put together a few non drinking nights in a row...

Who is “C”? Is that the one you hooked up with last time that didn’t go so well, or is this someone else?

There were about 225 people at our wedding. The top tier was reserved for us to have on our 1st anniversary. We also had a smaller chocolate groom's cake, which was completely devoured with none left.

That’s large, I don’t even think I know that many people. Great memories I’m sure.

Here is our cabin for the week.  Stateroom 8083 which is one of a few that can have 2 twin beds as opposed to one king (they don't separate like Royal's so you avoid that hump in the middle.  Pretty nice location, nice and close to the aft elevators.

My Tribe I need your prayers 🙏. My Father in Law has been suffering with dementia for 10 years. My Mother in Law has been caring for him on her own. He’s 89 and she’s 86. Yesterday she collapsed, my brother in law found her. Drs found cancer in her bladder. We’re on our way to Vegas now.

Wishing your MIL all the best.

I confess I tried listening to this....way too annoying to spend my time listening.  Sorry.

Same here, didn’t get very far into it.

I have our D+ pins and they are still on the cards they came on.  I accidentally threw away our D pins on the cruise we received them. Most people do not wear them, although occasionally we see them.  We're 33 points from Pinnacle and will only wear those when attending an event.  We've always joked that some wear them on their pjs and swimsuits.

No joke, I actually saw one on a swimsuit coverup on Coco Cay. I got a laugh out of that one.

  8. Anyone in South Florida on the weekend of the 17th? It’s the weekend of the Redland International Orchid Festival. I go often and usually go on Friday and Sunday. Friday there are often bigger plants that the vendors bring in where they might only have a few of and Sundays for some bargains. This year I’ll only be going on Friday. I usually shop for about 4 - 6 hours each day so this year 1 day will be enough. It’s outside and it can get hot walking for most of the time. I hate it when it rains, hoping it doesn’t this year.

Looks like Leland is just outside of Wilmington, NC and really has shown a lot of growth in the last 10 years, population has doubled in that time span.

We are kind of looking for something more laid backed, thought Southport was that place but there is a lot of growth happening there to even in the last 3 years that we have been going there.

Seems nothing can hide from expanding can it?

Did I miss something? Are you looking to move again or a second house?

Cheap flights are almost impossible to find anymore.  I know the ones we booked this summer are much higher.

I was shocked when my son told me that they looked into flights for his in-laws to fly from China.  They were looking at 15k per person, round trip in economy.

😳 that’s nuts. Even 15k for 2 people would be a lot to me.

Thanks all for your insight!   I think looking at YouTube videos is a great idea.

So far, it looks like the obstruction is minimal and thus not something I need to worry about.

Since my cruise is not till 2026, I don't think any amount of negotiating will get me compensation.  There are other cabins available in my category that do not seem to be affected by the obstruction.  They would just suggest I move to one of those. -- which is probably what I will do if further YouTube inspection has me thinking the obstruction is more than my initial impressions.

Since there are still cabins available I would move to one of those if it was me.

Circling back. I called a bit ago to check the upgrade pricing since my interior category is sold out and the only way to check is by calling the casino.. I was able to upgrade to an oceanview balcony midship near the elevator where I picked the cabin number for BOTH the 4 night and 3 night sailing getting the same cabin for a total of $61 a person.. So $122 to go from an interior to oceanview balcony in the same cabin for the full 7 days. I couldn't pass that one up! A week on utopia only paying port fees and taxes and the $122, yes please!

Great it worked out for you.

I haven’t done a B2B since Wonder early last year. Once we were walked off the ship and walked back on maybe 10 minutes later, we were told we wouldn’t have access to our cabins until they announced cabins were ready for everyone. Not a big deal in my book.

Same for us. Told couldn’t go to cabin until all were ready.

True. But we have building codes. and they don't suck up your whole house and destroy it! Tornadoes and sinkholes are two of my biggest fears. Earthquakes don't bother me for the most part. The part that is scary are the roads. My mom and Grandpa were truck drivers and were driving on the 880 during the Loma Prieta. It collapsed behind them and they had no idea until they got to where they were picking up a load to transport. But my Grandpas dog had been howling and was acting crazy the whole time they were driving that way. If they had been later they would have been on it when it pancaked.

I am also from California.  I've gone through the Loma Prieta and the Northridge earthquakes.  Both were scary!  Northridge almost threw me out of bed.  I was driving on 101 when Loma Prieta hit--was headed to a sports bar to watch the Bay World Series.  Thought I had run over some nails on the freeway as it felt like I had a flat tire on one side and then a flat tire on the other side.  Cars were pulling over--then I looked up and the overpass up ahead was swaying!  YIKES!  Earthquake!!  Very eerie to drive back to my home in Sunnyvale and see darkness everywhere!!  Funny, not funny, thing is that I was due to fly to St Thomas in two days  to see my then boyfriend (now husband)--they went thru hurricane Hugo the month before, which had devastated the islands (first major hurricane to hit St Thomas since the 1920s!).  The Bay Area was in much better shape than St Thomas was when I got there.  They ended up not having power for 9 months--much worse than the 6 months we had after IrmaMaria.  I would still take a hurricane over an earthquake anyday as you can prepare for a hurricane and do everything possible to protect yourself and your belongings.  Earthquakes have no warning--you never know when the "BIG ONE" will hit.

I was just leaving work right after 5:00 when the Loma Prieta hit. We had security doors we had to go thru with a key card. I was between the 2 sets of security doors and I couldn’t get out. I guess the movement of the building made the system think someone was trying to break in so it went into lockdown. It was my first big earthquake and I was panicking. I kept hitting the safety release button and it didn’t work. When I finally got out the new building nextdoor that we had just built looked like it was on rollers. It looked like it was in wave action with it rolling. It was all glass and I could just see (imagined) all the glass popping out. My car was right next to it. It was so scary, but no glass broke. I was amazed that it didn’t explode. I then had to get on the 101 to go home. Traffic was a nightmare.
