  1. When we were in a past guest party and when they were explaining that the magic was coming part of the reasoning was because cruises out of Galveston have more people buying what I call clutter bunk, all the gift shop crap. I've been out of NOLA as well but whenever a "sell" is announced at the gifts shops everybody seems to go running to pick up $10 shirts and Bella perilna bracelets, or worse, inches of fake gold.

Maybe other ports aren't as gullible.

  2. Loved it but the thallasopool jets were broken as well as cooling showers last march. Also some of the steam rooms are unbearable. They closed at ten so DH and wanted to go after dinner and relax and we couldn't. Not sure if I'd pay for one again, I'd rather the aft balcony

  3. My DD is 10 but has been cruising for 5 years and we still do small things for her. We always get a new swimsuit and goggles and a few travel games and books. She enjoys picking out her formal night clothes as well. Carnival has some teen packs and family backs. On sLe right now, personally, I think u can find cuter stuff at Walmart but on the first cruise something that has the logo is fun. You could decorate the room through Bon voyage, we usually had acookie or fruit tray delivered on the first couple cruises she went on it she was small then.

  4. Not all children are horrible little monsters you know (or even slightly misbehaved or rowdy). Some (in fact, I would say most) are very well behaved. I wouldn't mind if someone brought their well behaved child to the steakhouse but unless your child likes steak, not sure if they'd enjoy it. Not sure if they have a kid's menu or not. They may have things like some kind of pasta or chicken that a kid might like but again, I'm not sure.

I never said they were, however, one of her kids is obviously small and the time it takes in the steakhouse is not conducive to a toddler or small child's schedule. I've seen children as young as 10 or 12 and they are well behaved. Not only will she enjoy dinner more but so will the rest of the patrons. I've been to the steakhouse and had people behind me that were so drunk and loud I couldn't have a nice conversation with my husband so it goes both ways. She stated she wanted first night because of the free wine. Carnival allows wine for each adult so she could bring her own bottle and pay the corkage fee.

  5. Another reason to cruise with insurance. My daughter is accident prone and this is a fear of mine, especially with waterworks. I'm glad your daughter didn't require surgery. Personally, I'm not sure how I'd feel about the situation, but I think that if it had happen without me while she was in camp carnival/ocean I'd be more apt to question things. There was a lawsuit recently in the Galveston area about a girl whose fingers where slammed in a door while she was in camp carnival. I understand accidents happen but IMO while my kids are in the hands of the employees I expect them to know where the dangers are and to anticipate them. I do feel that the employees are trained to clam up so they don't say anything to bring on a suit which, in turn, causes them to seem like inconsiderate jerks.

  6. Tfs - we sail Monday but I haven't expected much from Carnival the last few sailings. I was hoping the new menu would be better but I guess not. We got a great casino deal and are using it for our anniversary but unless I get awesome deals I won't be sailing anytime soon.

  7. We've gotten back late due to a medical emergency, we had to turn back to Cozumel mid cruise for treatment so we got back 4 hours late. Debark was a nightmare as well, people act like uncivilized morons and muck up the system crowding stairwells and hallways. It's proof that in the event of, God Forbid, a Concordia type accident, it's every man for himself.

  8. We got an upswell call to go to a grand suite for $481 and we took it just because we knew we'd never do it again. It was nice but not something I'd ever pay full price for. The only thing I really liked was the tub but the sides were so tall it was difficult for me and my child to get in and out of. Priority boarding does make you feel special but, again, not worth the price.

The ocean suites are smaller than the grand suites, google the you tube videos for them

  9. They had a special that was a top to toe (facial, scrub, massage) for $119, I believe. Only spa rooms or passes have access to the T pools. Personally, it's not worth it. We had spa rooms and the jets were broke so you could barely stay on the bench because of the power and then the cooling showers were broke so you couldn't cool off.

#4 exactly for us... We have met some of the nicest, friendly, and overall courteous people when cruising out of Galveston, but when out of Miami...not so much! :D:D

Thank you! One of the things Texans always here from out-of-towers is 1) "say something so I can hear your accent" :p and 2) "everyone here is sooo nice". I guess it's a southern thing. We also call everyone, "sir" and "ma'am" which offends some people

  11. While I am so disappointed to lose the Breeze, Galveston has the WORST itineraries. I would not fly there to take a cruise. They can only go so far.

Thrilled that the Vista is coming to Miami, and once the schedules are out for Spring 2017, we'll book one on her.:D:D

We are currently booked on the Magic out of PC next July. Looking forward to a new ship and new islands.

Secondly, why the Fascination out of San Juan? I mean, REALLY???? Crappy ship doing a great itinerary. Just frustrating. No way in HELL I would book a cruise on that ship. Guess we'll just wait until the the "next dancing of the ships"

Agreed on Fascination! We were looking forward to cruising the Virgin Islands in a scenic ocean view on the valor but the fascination reminds me of the love boat!

  12. I haven't read back through this tread recently so don't know if this has been discussed.

On the Magic last week they have started counting the "free" drinks you get with the On Us card in the casino along with your 15 limit on the Cheers program.

I think that's kind of a rip off. I paid for 15 drinks on Cheers and I paid for my On Us card based on my amount of play.

    That's crap!
