  1. Yep, April is so nice. Unfortunately Texas schools have testing in April or I'd pull my daughter out to avoid the Spring Break crowd. I'm hoping since Lousiana schools do spring break during Easter that going out of NOLA won't be so bad

  2. You know that you can go the entire week and not even know that there's an ice skating rink on the Royal ships that have it. To say that you won't sail Royal because you don't care for an ice skating rink is as shortsighted as saying that you won't cruise Carnival because you don't care for Guy's Burgers. If you don't care for either, there's PLENTY of other things to do on both cruise lines.

And not all Royal ships have a Royal Promenade (a.k.a. "a mall"). Only Voyager, Freedom and Oasis class do. All others have a more "traditional" atrium just like on Carnival. But even if you are sailing on a ship with a Royal Promenade, there are PLENTY of other places throughout the ship to be, many that are absolutely wonderful and can't be recreated on any Carnival ship.

I'm not saying I won't sail RC - I'm just saying some of their things that they tout are not things I care about. If I have a cocktail, book, and lounge chair I'm pretty much okay.

  3. Sadly, I have seen parents that let their kids do that and they are not drunk (Either the kids or the parents).

I agree. We've just found the quality of people cruising the 7 day cruises are much more behaved than the 4 and 5 day. I'm not really a fan of Royal Carribean ships (I could care less about ice skating while I am wanting sun and I don't like how they look like malls ) so I'm not sure which line we will go with

  4. In our experience, the 4 and 5 days are nothing but booze cruises for a large majority of the passengers. We've grown tired of the shorter cruises because of the drunken debauchery and the parents who participate in it and let their kids run wild. That, coupled with Carnival's decreasing service, has really just turned us off.

I hate it because it was usually a great value for a 4 day vacation but even the rates aren't that great anymore.

  5. Yeah, we are pretty much done with Triumph as well. I was underwhelmed last time and I agree with all of your statements and I'm 36. We spent the majority of our time in the back pool and skipped out on the main dining room after the first night because dinner was so slow. We are giving Carnival one more go in March but with the prices going up and quality going down I'd rather fly to a all inclusive resort.

  6. I plan on visiting with the matre d the first day. I know to avoid breads, etc but just about everything has garlic in somehow so I don't want to be stuck eating rubber chicken the entire cruise when it's a mild allergy that only causes bloating. My main concern is the barley because I can eat it and it takes 5 days to clear my system.

  7. I know I can alert Carnival to my food allergies and accommodations can be made; however, am I still allowed to order what I want?

My allergies aren't severe enough to put me into anaphylactic shock but they mainly cause wheezing, gastric upset or rash in varying degrees. The reason I ask is because while I avoid spinach, turkey, yeast, and barley, I can't imagine what I'll get served if I alert them to my garlic and lettuce allergy. I normally just eat things I'm sensitive to in moderation. My fear is I try to order something and I'm shut down. At the same time, yeast and barley can cause breathing issues and they are in so much I do better if I follow a gluten free diet.

    Thoughts?

  8. Did you watch the Notre Dame game yesterday vs. LSU....I had a little wager with all my Louisiana friends. Now when I go down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras they all have to buy me a drink :p

Hopefully the Cubs will be a better team this year....I sure hope so. They haven't even been fun to watch the last couple years.

Btw my dog's name is Wrigley....hence the reason for the Wrigley80 screen name

We didn't get to watch it because of work but we recorded it and watched highlights. My poor cubbies... I hope the have a good year as well. Go cubs go!
