  1. We love all the comments made here las they are true 😀. WE can add that Holland America has the best handicap staterooms with above & beyond service 😀
  2. I never told any one how yo live their life including any one who lives on the Hawaiian islands ,where do you get this idea ? what is best for Hawaii id what Hawaii can do for itself . Look ,all we want to do is help them & certainly Churches & other organizations collecting money to send there should help a lpt , Then they need to help themselves as well . As far as rebuilt should take less time today than building is concerned ,it should take less time that it did when Pearl Harbor was attacked , Using then as a comparison .Yet PearHarbor was rebuilt & surrounding areas .when combined efforts are going in the same direction together then things happen faster .Certainly ,all people want to see the pain of this horrible fire raken off the shoulders of those who have burdened this disaster

    Maui

Our Church is a very large Evangilical Church with out reach via TV to all 50 states & the world .Next Sunday ,the head pastor announced the Church will organize a Love Collection will be taken up .I can assure every oe here that the collection will be very successful . In the USA there are 65.000,000 evangilical people . Their churches will also take up collections . We believe in helping our neighbors
  4. imo I believe Lahania can recover a lot faster as long as politics does not enter into the rebuilding
  5. I wonder of the military is going to help .They have construction battalions that are capable of bridges roads ,airfields ie ?
  6. Our Church with live TV world wide is taking a Love Collection Next Sunday for rebuilding a church destroyed in the fire as well as some business . We believe it will be very substantial ,since the church reaches millions of people world wide
  7. For immediate needs everything will need to be flown in by cargo planes ,then cargo ships .with the proper equipment & trained operators ,the burnt areas can be cleared relatively quickly . Then that debris needs to get disposed . Ince that is done , more roads ,housing & business can be built .It is going to take the county of Maui ,the State of Hawaii & the US Federal government to agree in a plan of action & financing
  8. We also have been to the islands many times .We spent 2 weeks each time twice on Maui as well as many cruises there .We just can't understand "strong sentiment against tourism " . Since you know all about the Hawaiian islands ,then what percent of gross incomes come from tourism ? Once you so that math you will soon find out it is much more than 50% .Thus ,how would they survive with the population Hawaii needs to support? It is only reasonable to keep tourism alive & well . This is 2024 not the age of the Kings & Queens of Hawaii . No tourism on Maui no Maui because what industry would take it's place & employ many thousands ? Who would invest in real estate , hotels ,tour boats etc etc
  9. Bruce the See Bees was a reference .They built many roads & bridges on islands in the Pacific for troop & supply movements ..what we were referencing is what was accomplished 8 decades ago should happen much faster with todays technology ,building methods etc . We support all the efforts to rebuild the Lahania area on Maui .All resources need to be employed ti bring back life as close as it was before this horrible wildfire , There is a fact that no one should deny is that the entire island of Maui main sources of income are from tourism . so the goals are many not just the rebuild
  10. Called Holland yesterday ro reming them that there is no protocol when it comes to handicap ,then suites & Club Orange to board first in the San Diego port . more people need to phone Holland America to reming them & then we could see a change
  11. That picture looks quite bad for that area .We recall talking with artists painting pictures under that huge tree , /We also would shop close by in a 3 story building for Hawaiian outfits ,We have many find memories of Lahania ,We can hope & pray for all the people impacted by this devastation & get them the help they need to rebuild their lives
  12. Bruse negativity won't help the people who survived this disaster , government & industry must lock arms , make a plan & carry it out in a timely way
  13. We have seen other photos ,It seems like the court house did not burn down but can't tell fro these photos if the fire gutted the inside .We hope that the large banyon tree survives
  14. What imo will likely happen is temporary shelter in part of the numerous rental properties like hotels ,condos ie , In WW2 we have the navy SeaBees construction teams that built all kinds of infrastructures like roads bridges quickly . With todays technologies ,newer building materials many more things are very possible .Think entire homes built on assembly lines with robots ,how many homes can be turned out & placed on freighters for delivery . Large land moving equipment could clear out the debris & that debris could be shipped to some atol in the Pacific .Yes ,technology of today & willingness to get life back together is what is needed . Maui is all tourism & with out tourism what would many thousands do for employment .
  15. From what we read Wailea ,Kana[ali ,Kapaula areas have been mega tour sports & thousands of jobs depend on tourism . Both the State of Hawaii & the Maui government know this . Also there should be some Fed assistance . planes & cargo ships can bring in all that is needed in the way of building materials , machinery ,food ie , Imo I can see October welcoming in tourists las the island can not shut down .
  16. Absolutely fantastic .what a fabulous display for towel animals .We never saw this before 😀
  17. Yes agree & their life blood is tourism .The State & Maui governments need to figure ways to add more surface roads as well which will take time .In the meantime cargo ships & planes can deliver needed supplies for rebuilding as well as all other items used on the island
  18. Here is the link https://www.bing.com/search?q=maui fires&FORM=ARPSEC&PC=ARPL&PTAG=1190 No doubt Lahania will be rebuilt but in the near term I would think that cruise ships will dock at the deep sea port in the industrial area on the other side of Maui .So much history totally gone .We have been fortunate to see it all many times in the past
  19. HAL needs to improve the priority boarding procedures at the San Diego pier . Until it is done they have handicap boarding with all others ,at the same time depending on your boarding time
  20. all they need do is have Big signage & roped off line for the priority pax . Then there wouldn't be that confusion .We will have to notify them via phone that we need help being handicapped
  21. Seems to us that in these cases holland America is not consistent in their protocols .We understood that handicap go first then Neptune suites & other suites & Club Orange all have priority boarding . If they do not adhere to these protocols then it is the wild west . not good imo
  22. Thanks much for this info .We sailed on Celebrity many times to the Hawaiian islands when they did those cruises from the Calif ports .We had the ukulele lessons ,lei making but with the beads not orchids & some hula instructions . One of the reasons we like these Hawaii cruises is because of the extra activities offered on board going to the islands .The other shows we were aware of . Thanks again ,we do appreciate hearing
  23. Yes that is what I( am asking .not what shows will be on our Hawaii cruises but what has been the norm for entertainment so far for past Hawaii cruises ?
  24. We have the Jan 2024 & Jan 2025 cruises booked on Koningsdam ,Hawaii . what shows can we expect to see on those cruises ? TIA
  25. Excellent point .In our case we know that the gratuities for our 18 days are $576 ,so we would go & give the customer service desk the gift card early on the cruise .
