  1. A special break in transmission. I have missed the perfect Fuji shot on our cruise but have a week in Japan to come. But yesterday in Hirosaki got a consolation prize, A mountain known to the locals as O Iwate Fujisan.
  2. Different on the Muse. Within 2 days I was contacted by the Shore Concierge manager and the deputy hotel director. On top of that one of the Maitre'ds came over to our table the next night and said he had read my comments and thanked me for speaking up. SS is remaining consistently inconsistent.
  3. Doubtful as the incident I mentioned on this current cruise which was disrespectful , rude and borderline racist was by a fellow of his second night on SS. It was also when he was offered a jacket on a formal night.
  4. Except I used a browser which worked well until it crashed. I had completed an extensive list of problems taking about 25 minutes. I was about to add the names of the crew when the page simply disappeared. Obviously didn’t get submitted. So I added a 3 page letter with the current mid voyage paper based survey. I will be using the web based version again tomorrow. If it crashes head office will get an email with all the details. And by the way 5 people on our trivia team last time used the browser method. Only 1 was able to successfully submit the survey.
  5. And we both enjoyed the burgers this afternoon at the Grill. We had given up using it on the last segment. So thanks @commodoredave for first making the fuss that prompted me to also make a complaint.
  6. Time to leave Kagoshima. Then time for dinner in Atlantide. We both started with the beef tartare then Rojaan had the lamb chops and I the rib eye. I also had a tomato soup from the everyday menu. Then she had the Day's dessert. That night the Easter Bunny found the ship.
  7. Showing a little bit of rust. This was the first time Silversea has been at this dock so close to town. Normally further away but a Regent ship was there. The dock area.
  8. On the way back to the ferry. And Loquat trees with each individual loquat in a white paper bag. Our ferry back.
  9. I think there were a few onboard who made suggestions. I certainly mentioned patties in my mid cruise survey. I am sure it was a local ship decision. I will though be wary of the lunch time enchiladas etc that appear on the Atlantide menu.
  10. We have it from a very good source that BM was not pushed and it was her choice.
  11. I got a call from the onboard Shore Concierge after my survey complaint about late cancellation of excursions. Was told one for operational reasons and the other for lack of interest. At least an apology.
  12. At the park several stalls with cheap souvenirs and various foods but mainly the small oranges grown on the island. But some interesting sweets. And lots of lava. A walk up to the viewing platform. A lava shelter.
  13. But we are not at the port to go back to the ship. Along with our bus we are now onboard a Sakurajima ferry. But we are not at the port to go back to the ship. Along with our bus we are now onboard a Sakurajima ferry. A little noodle cafe onboard. I went the full 1000 yen ($11) version and liked it. Off around to the other side of the mountain and the lava park.
  14. The last of the garden. Magnolia just starting to flower. Leaving the villa and back to the port.
  15. As you can tell I just love Japanese gardens. Still some camellias flowering. A butterfly fairly well disguised.
  16. We were a bit early for the best of the cherry blossoms here in Kagoshima. Prior to leaving home the prediction was cherry blossoms would be earlier this year. so far they have turned out to be a little later than usual.
  17. And the gate to the residence. A museum and shops now to one side. And into the residence.
  18. Now inside the gardens. First an exhibit on th original owner's local business. The original main entrance. Now with a highway and rail line running past. Then through part of the garden to get to the villa.
  19. After our usual breakfast in the Arts cafe I set off for the Senganen garden and villa.
  20. Atlantide again for dinner. Rojaa n had foie gras with blackberry which was excellent whilst I had the crispy squid. A bit chewy and quite ordinary. She then had her lobster and I the filet. Both still very good. The next morning not long after sunrise we were steaming into Kagoshima. Our first view of Sakurajima.
  21. The next day was once more a sea day. Passed several Japanese islands. Then lunch in Atlantide. Rojaan had prawns wrapped in bacon. OK. I started with the roast beef baguette which was nice. Then she had the Phyllo basket and I the enchiladas. Both OK. Rojaan finished with the cherry clafoutis. Then sunset.
