If this is all your TA is providing to you, then yes, book direct is advisable.

Our TA usually has fares 15% to 20% lower than booking direct, which is the value proposition for us and others here, as well.

    bon voyage

In Chicago LSD stands for Lake Shore Drive.

I have been called a cheerleader but never once defended Celebrity on the butler issue as never sailed in suites, no intention of doing, so none of my business. I post here far less than before because I was boring myself and no doubt others with repeat posts on repeat threads, no other reason than that. Maybe other cheerleaders are doing the same as me.

After our cruises next month on the Edge is a SS we are done with Celebrity too. I wrote emails to the CEO about the lack of butlers and how the Team is a joke. All we got was a phone call from an underling and NO OFFER of any compensation. Celebrity has cheapened their product while at the same time raised pricing as high as 40% more. My post cruise survey was all 1 and 2 ratings on butler service, room service and again no response. If we hadn't already paid for our airfare for Australia, we would have canceled and booked with another cruise line. Our air to Australia was over $9K so we have no choice but to go.

After your next Celebrity cruise will you continue posting on this forum?

Suites are the absolute profit drivers, this is why every new ship has more suites than the last.  Suites usually cost hundreds if not thousands more than a non-suite.  All the extra fees/ancillary charges like the drink package are a drop in the bucket compared to suites

I'll give a specific example and I'm even going to cherry-pick this example in your favor.  I went to a TA site, put the date range from now to Feb, filtered all X sailings, pricing is per person, per night, and before fees and taxes:

Cheapest Inside: There are a dozen sailings under $50/night, the cheapest is a 16-night South America repo for $41/night

Cheapest Suite: There are about ten sailings under $400/night, the cheapest is a 6-night Bahama and Cozumel sailing for $312/night in an SS

Of course, the suite's hard and soft products cost X more than an inside but roughly $271/night more?  No chance.  This isn't even factoring in the highest-end suites which offer nearly the same experience and cost to X as an SS minus the butler

At the end of the day, X would be happier if someone booked a suite than they would if someone booked an inside with a drink, photo, and special dining package

Is your info about insides compared to suites consided inside info? Can you be sued or indicted for giving insided information?

I am a very positive person and generally ignore negative comments.  However, I used to think that postings about about poor/lack of service/crew cutbacks was linked to cabin category.  Now I am not so certain.  I think it's folks' expectations and post covid, a larger number of folks are more criticall/negative.  ("The Age of Rage")  I have not experienced  "cutbacks in service ' a.k.a. slow service any different post covid  to pre-covid.   It occurred both before and after.  Maybe expectations changed after covid?  Mine did not.   And realistically, the same sometime slow/poor service has been experienced in shoreside restaurants.  Life is about choices, and if unhappy, try something else:  another cruise line or land based vacation.  Life really is too short to be negatively focused.

I don't know what happiness is.Is it a new car?Great sex?I have no clue. I believe it was Abraham Lincoln who once said."A man is just as happy as he makes up his mind to be." That's how I do it.

All good questions about the practical details.

i haven’t dug into the math, but I think $33/pd is not that bad since it includes the wifi and room service fees. It could be an ok value if those are important to someone.
The theatre seating perk? No thanks, we haven’t been to the shows in 4-5 years, the volume level is too high, even for my wife after she takes off her hearing aids. Well, once or twice we have briefly sat in seats in the last row, then made a quick exit when our noise level fears we’re confirmed.

The comment about having  the dedicated lounge isn’t about the drinks it is for those that want  to connect with others sharing their stories, really?    🤷‍♂️🙄

I don’t care if anyone is elite or above and sorry but yes it is the drinks, if not why would anyone go there  there during those hours?    I am willing to have a conversation with anyone and I can do that anytime.

    Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

It gives some people the opportunity to keep repeating there staying in a suite.
