  1. Freeport Gardens of the Groves Sightseeing & Shopping Tour

In my opinion, you are better off taking a taxi to the garden and do it yourself.  The garden was really pretty, but the excursion was not worth the money.

4 hour tour.  1 hour guided tour at the garden which was OK.  The woman who guided the tour was personable.  I don't think the information was anything special.  Another 1 hour to do your own thing, but we went  through the whole  gardens already so the only thing left was to shop at their little stores and eat lunch.   The people at the stores were pushy.  Among the typical touristy stuff there was a couple of stores that had unique stuff.  There was one gentleman painter whose paintings were really pretty, but he had a very bad attitude.  If you do go and want to buy something tell him you don't want to and he will bring the price down.

The driver said if we get back on the bus early he would stop at the beach for 10 minutes.  This was supposedly not part of the tour.  Don't get me wrong, the beach was gorgeous.  The issue I had was that there was nobody on the beach except the people pushing tourist trinkets.  Coincidence??  You can make the same inference that I did.  Friends and/or family of the driver??  I don't know.  It just left a bad taste in my mouth since it wasn't part of the tour.

We then spend 45 minutes at Port St. Lucia shopping area.  We were told to get back on the bus at 12.  We were supposed to be back at the port at 12.  He said we were going to arrive back on in Bahama time.  I didn't like that because you expect to be back at the description time unless something unexpected happens.

The drive to and from was nothing special.  It basically was pointing out the buildings and houses.  Since there isn't much to see, it would have been much more entertaining and interesting if some more history or facts about the island would have been talked about.  There was a lot of talk about the port authority and what they allow and don't allow.

...and we got our dolphin escort out of Bimini too. I was on my balcony in the back and there were a pair of them swimming and jumping out of the water on the port side following us 🙂

Awww...I missed that!!  Glad you got to see them though!

What are the stops on this Pride sailing and do you have any excursions planned?

Our sailing ports were changed.  We ended up going to Bimini, Half Moon Cay, and Freeport.  We did Beach 360 in Bimin, Cabana in HMC, and Gardens of the Groves Sightseeing & Shopping Tour.

  4. PIANO BAR FUN WITH GILBERT

Gilbert is great!  We had so much fun.  They are only allowed 50% capacity, so it wasnt the typical piano sing alongs.  But that doesn't mean we didnt have an awesome night!

    FOOD DELIVERY

I didn't use this service so I can't answer any questions.  As an FYI you can not only have room service delivery, but you can get food delivery to locations s on the ship.  I selected the Piano Bar at midnight and it allowed me to go to select food.  There was a charge for the food $5 each item.

What time were your cabins ready? We’re you one of the first in the parking lot at 12 or did others get there before you?

There were others here before us.  I think the first time slot was 12.  There were not many though.

We went to our room about 2:30. I know they normally make an announcement when they are ready, but if they did we didn't hear any.  We just headed up and asked the first person we saw on the deck if it was ok.

  6. I am beyond excited about of first cruise back.  I am sitting on our beautiful balcony and figured I'd let you all know how embarkation went.

    EMBARKATION

We parked at the port.  Our embarkation was great.  We had a 12:30-1:00 B01 arrival time.  We ended up getting to the port parking at 12:00 and were let in easy-peasy.  There were two different stops where they just asked for our arrival time.  No verification needed.  Dropped of our luggage and drove on through to the pay booth.  Parked, walked right into the terminal with no lines.  The first check point they checked our boarding pass.   The ext stop, the woman checking our documents was  very thorough.   She checked the boarding pass, vax proof, negative test proof, and IDs.  Then we went through the security screening.  After another person again checked our boarding pass.  Went to the desk and they needed the boarding pass and ID.  Then right onto the ship.  Absolutely no waiting at all!

    NEBULIZER MACHINE
I had called previously to see if nebulizers were allowed since I know oxygen wasn't.   FYI, they are fine as long as you carry it on with the meds.  Since they knew my mom would need the nebulizer, she was flagged when the reviewed the vax/test/ID, then when we were at the desk actually checking in, then at the final scan when we boarded.  They didnt ask to see it, but just asked if we had it with us.
So moral to the story, if you let Carnival know you may need one, make sure you bring it even if you are on the fence.

    ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRINK
My mom has this fruit drink that helps her with her arthritis.  It's non-prescription and in a plastic bottle.  I was worried about getting this on the ship, but with some CC advise reached out to guest access and got approved.  I first called and the woman told me no.  So I decided to email them with the documentation fro.the website stating what it was and why she needed it.  Got a call the next day and was approved to take it onboard in my carry on.  She asked how many I was bringing and the size if the bottle.   We told security and they were fine with it.  Our bag was supposed to be checked, but I dont think they were too organized and the woman just said go on through.  I had the email printed out and ready though.

    GANGWAY
It was an uphill back and forth kindof gangway so if there is mobility issues, keep that in mind.  Scooters and wheelchairs will have no problems.  But if someone is a slow walker or gets tired easily, you may want to ask if there is an alternative.

    MUSTER STATION
We wanted to go straight to the muster station and get it out of the way.  Asked someone where it was and was told we had to wait for the announcement.   Well, being part of the wonderful cruise critic site, I knew this wasnt right.  We just made out way aft because we knew it was aft and there was a woman who actually asked where ours was so she directed us there.  Boarding pass again scanned.

    LUNCH
I was surprised that one of the dining rooms was not opened.  I guess I was mixing up my cruise lines.  So we went to the good ol Lido deck.  Mom and I both took the fruity drink being sold.  I couldn't tell you what was in it, but boy oh boy was it strong. Maybe because I had only two eggs in my stomach and no H2O, it hit me harder or maybe they just want you to get the party started.  IDK.  My guess it the first option.

Here is day 1's fun times. I am off now to enjoy day 1 of fun and relaxation.  🙂

Stepped out of uber, walked 15 feet to first checkin where we were asked if we're vaccinated and tested.  Answered YES and permitted to walk inside. Line to next checkpoint was 4 people long, the pic of the man and podium.  He checked passport,  vaccination card and test results  and we were on our way to security, security line was 2 people ahead of us (see pic), then on to guest services, no line.  Seemed like same old process except to confirm vaccination card and look at the covid test digital certificate on our phones.  Hard copies not required.

I saw on another review that they were super strict about boarding times with parking passengers.  Did they bother looking at your check in time when you walked in?  I have the 12:30 check in, but curious because we may have to get there a bit earlier and wondering if we don't park there if we will have less trouble  Thanks for the review too!

What time did you guys depart the ship?

Ok so it looks like when we go to the dining room they have QR code’s to scan for the menu and it gives me a wonderful pdf I can attach. So see below for a much better version of tonight’s menu.

    MDR Night 1.pdf 443.65 kB · 11 downloads

Thank you so much for posting the pdf MDR menus!  This will help my mom our so much since she doesn't have a phone.

I was curious what the cured salmon was, so I'm glad you posted that too.  I'm squeamish when it comes to raw food and I didn't realize that's what it was.

Your review is awesome!!!  You are making me want to jump on ship now.  🙂

  9. My mom has this dietary supplement drink that helps with inflammatory issues.  It looks like juice.  Has anyone every tried to bring something like this onboard and what were your experiences?  It's a 32oz bottle if she brings the whole thing.  I was thinking it would be better to throw it in the checked bags still sealed so if it's not allowed, they will hold it until the end of the cruise and she will not have to throw it out since it's expensive.  I'm worried they will consider it a fruit juice.

This is a copy of the Fun Times for the visually impaired. I didn't think to take a pic for each day, I don't even know why I took a pic of it lol.   Next cruise I'll take a pic of all the days in case someone else ask 🙂

Is this the same condensed copy you can get at guest services or do you have to ask specifically for a visually impaired version?

  11. As per the Carnival web site:

Effective with sailings as of September 13, 2021, the CDC requires pre-cruise testing for vaccinated guests to be taken within two days prior to the sailing date. If the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken on Thursday and Friday, and as late as Saturday, if you are guaranteed to receive your results in time for check-in.

I just don’t understand why everyone has to be first on the ship! If you choose the 10-10:30 time slot, you’re going to be sitting around twiddling your thumbs waiting for the ship to clear all the previous passengers, some of whom aren’t in any rush to get off. As I said earlier in this thread, we arrived at our check in time of 12 and were on the ship, done with muster and checked out the casinos and were back in our cabins by around 12:40. This was no worse than the usual Platinum/Diamond boarding we usually do. Guess I just don’t get it, but to each his own.

Just happy to be cruising again!

I normally wouldn't mind not being first on, but this time around we have no excursions posted to book for one port and only 2 for another.  I would like to get to the excursion desk early.  Everyone has their reasons.  Some may have been staying in a hotel the night before and have to check out or come from the airport.  They'd rather be sitting on a ship twiddling their thumbs with a drink and food than in the lobby of the terminal/hotel/airport staring at a wall.
