  1. Okay I get wanting to board early to get my vacation started but why the rush to get off the ship. Yes there is not much going on on disembarkation day and yes I know we are all getting off and you likely won't be there past 9:30 am but why the stress to get off the ship as one of the first people? you don't have to book the 9:45 am flight. Speaking as someone who has to get back to the west coast and in Canada coming back from a cruise is an all day thing but why start the day so stressed to get off? seems to almost ruin a good vacation. Thoughts?
  2. Note it may take a bit to then show up as cancelled on all parts of the site. mine still showed in the planner as booked even though under booking and order details it had cancelled. it took a few hours for it all to populate properly, only noticed this as I had booked the wrong speciality restaurant so I canceled and tried to immediately book the right one for the exact same day and time and it would not let me, a few hours latter when all had populated it let me no problem.
  3. Evening shows are defiantly different schedule. usually only 4 production shows on a 7 day. Comedy clubs are a big Carnival thing most ships on a 7 day cruise have 3 or 4 comedians and shows are several times a night with both Adult and PG shows. Main dinning has no table cloths Pool deck chair situation is the same as on most cruise lines Carnival Cheers package is very similar to Royals Deluxe drink package - it does have a 15 alcoholic drink limit per day (6am-6am) which upsets some people. Many carnival ships have milkshakes and great coffee places that are included in the cheers package which can make it more valuable than just thinking I don't drink 6-7 drinks a day so it is not worth it.
  4. Has anyone used Butts Up (cave-tubing.com) for tours in Belize? looking at doing the cave tube and zip line combo
  5. It has been fun looking at all the things that have changed with Carnival. It definitely seems that my experience of pulling up beside a carnival ship in the 90s and seeing all the neon and hearing the party going on had tarnished my impression of Carnival. If all the things people have missed were there back then the experience would have been similar to the NCL experience I had at the time. Not that I am not saying the NCL hasn't changed as it as probably changed more than most and in my opinion for the worse not better, but I went on my last NCL cruise in the early 2000's.
  6. I had clicked the request to be on early for the Panorama last summer and a couple of days before boarding it still said waitlisted. but when we boarded it was confirmed as early and table was assigned. I had planned to see the Maitre'D upon embarkation but didn't have to as my request in cruise manager had gone through.
  7. i read on another post of someone feeling all the special touches that were part of their Carnival cruise experience are gone. It made me think what special touches are gone? To be honest I had always considered a Carnival Cruise to be a bottom of the barrel thing - likely based on my cruising experience in the 90's pulling up beside Carnival ships and the party atmosphere and neon - but I had never been on one. Went on my first Carnival Cruise last summer - Panorama from LA to Mexico and I must say I enjoyed things and felt it was great value, there were only 1 or 2 disappointments in the whole experience. In fact heading this summer on my second Carnival cruise and this time going out of Galveston. So really I am a Carnival newbie and don't know what is missing. So what did they used to have that they don't have now that would warrant someone feeling that the 'special touches' are gone?
  8. it is one of those things that some people love some could care less. I was never a fan of towel clips so I bought some towel bands as I thought that would be better. so far I have only used them once and for me it wasn't worth it. I guess I don't care if my towel slips down my chair.
  9. other than the AI beach club I have found on that thread: - bar hopping - everybody loves ray snorkel - amazing race - food tour - Trikes-Cozumel - private tour of the island I guess I am just surprised by how few things there are considering it is one of the most visited ports in the world. I am not sure what I was expecting but some how it was more.
  10. Thanks I was not finding much from either of those and was hoping a specific question would illicit some more responses.
  11. Will be in Cozumel in July on the Carnival Vista. I am looking for something to do in Cozumel and I am not a fan of the all inclusive beach day. Also not wanting to head to Tulum or Chichen Itza as I have been to both before. Suggestions welcome
  12. for me it has been a bit hit and miss, it will really depend on the person leading it as to the quality of the experience. but no matter what you get to try some good wine and some food samples in a very nice setting as usually it is in one of the restaurants that I never go to.
  13. We had 1 formal and 1 dress your best. Basically the same thing.
  14. While I don't cruise for food the food experience definitely influences my cruise. If the food is bad I remember that a lot more and will influence my purchase of future cruises with that line.
  15. it included only the cheers part gratuities and for comparison the 848.90 for cheers by itself also included the gratuities (base price was $719.40 plus grats)
  16. only for the cheers to you the other 2 are the same with $99 non-refundable deposits and all other fine print is the same for this sailing. with the cheers to you you have a higher deposit required
  17. Here is the situation I am booking the Vista out of Galveston at the end of July and was looking at my offers that Carnival sent. I have 3 to choose from: Plan now sail later (OV8) gives $200 obc price is $2,644.40 Fun for you (O1X) gives $100 obc price is $2,644.40 Cheers to you (RU0) price is $3,734.40 so essentially they are charging me $1,090.00 for Cheers. Where things are interesting is that if I add cheers on separately after booking (which is what I did) the cost for Cheers is $848.90 (including tax and grats) so bottom line by taking the plan now sail later offer and adding cheers I paid $3,493.30. saving $241.10 plus I got a $200 obc. Shows you either need to do your research or have a good travel agent.
  18. Well I was a bit bored last night and did a lot of clicking the offer #2 with the 100obc is good on every sailing available till April 2025. offer #2 is on select sailings - which appears to be (now I didn't try every ship and sailing but I did try an awful lot) between now and May 2024. I found the select to be pretty much anything Alaska, Bahamas, Mexico & Caribbean, very limited for Australia, New Zealand and Europe and almost nothing for Asia. It still amazed me that most cruises I had both options. Now don't get me started that my Cheers offer would actually cost me more - I will start a new thread on that
  19. well I was bored last night and did a lot of clicking to see more. nope both were the same non-refundable
  20. as noted above it was the same ship, room, same date, both same deposits, allowed to pick the same room. Maybe it was just luck that I picked a cruise where both offers applied but on random clicking it seemed that they overlapped a whole lot.
  21. it was on the same sailing, dates and ship but I did notice as mz-s noted that both offers are not on everything so in those cases it makes some sense.
  22. So I just received my latest offers from Carnival and looking at them I am asking why they would give me the choice between the 2 options: option 1 - is supposedly $1,100 off with an onboard credit of $200 option 2 - is supposedly $1,070 off with an onboard credit of $100. When you take things all the way to the end it is actually true the only difference on the 2 rates is that option 2 is $30 more expensive with $100 less onboard credit everything else is the same. Why would I or anyone willingly choose option 2 paying more and getting less?
  23. Thanks Saint Greg. I have heard via the always reliable FB that the cruise experience is quite different did you find this?
  24. Looking at a trip this summer on the Vista out of Galveston, my only other Carnival experience is the Panorama last year. I know they are the same class ship and the Panorama is a few years newer but how do they compare?
  25. not quite true, at least on Carnival. the carnival drink packages do not start until day 2 at 6am. Yes you can still by drinks (limited alcohol menu) and all soft drinks but just not with your package. they don't charge you for the package that day either.
