  1. This is not just about mask and mask less. A small amount of the population may be vindictive. They pass along illnesses to others. They will do it with flus and other forms of viruses. They will do it with this if it takes on another. There are employees of places that will do it and have done it as well as the citizen for whatever reason. This does no one on any side of the issue any good.

Well the cdc has sung its little head off and says not only cruiseline only excursions but masks too. Yes masks in all the ports, even private islands. I'm going to mahogany bay in sept unless cancelled and to go carnival has to agree or not go. Lol so even swimming?

Sept is hot and humid but I'll go if vista goes.

If by private islands you mean the Cruise lines Cays, if they are in the Bahamas it may be Bahaman laws that they will follow. And how they will enforce or not enforce anything due to Covid.

Good god man! Get some streaming/cable and turn off the Jerry Springer reruns. 😁

There are men who have put their life on the line or who have passed on working in dangerous conditions who may have watched Springer when not doing so. They deserve better.

Unfortunately the same crowd that caused the virus to spread more rapidly than it should have because they wouldn't wear a mask and distance because it was taking away their liberty are now keeping us from getting to herd immunity because they think Bill Gates has put a microchip in the vaccine.  At the end of the day it seems the takeaway is we are not dealing with rocket scientists.

In a controlled media/entertainment  arena we see every day 100 pound women beating the living daylights out of 200 pound men who are former special forces as the bad guys. There are plenty of people who believe that. We can go on and on and on with all of the propaganda.

    Hi all,

This will be hubby and my first RCI cruise, this coming fall (assuming cruises do in fact sail.)  My first two cruises were on Carnival, and he and I have both been on newer NCL and HAL cruises.  For the longest time I've been wanting to try Allure of the Seas.  I know Allure isn't so new anymore but I love all the pictures and reviews I've read.

Just looking for lots of opinions, please.  I've sort of eliminated this option, but not completely---  9 nt. Anthem of the seas NYE cruise this Dec., out of NJ.  We could drive up from VA and spend one night at hotel.  On paper it's exactly what I want--- nine nights (I always want more than seven,) five whopping days at sea (I always want more than 2-3 days at sea, and it goes to the one port I need to go to--- Labadee.)  But the reviews don't seem as good as the Allure and the pictures of the ships interior don't look as pretty as the Allure.  We went on the new Nieuw Statendam 12/19, a couple months before the pandemic started, and it was gorgeous.  The pictures of the pool area on this ship just look okay.

2nd, but main option--- 7 nt. Allure late September or early October (this year), out of Port Canaveral.  We could drive or fly down and then do another thing I've always wanted to--- go to Disney World.  I've been to Disneyland dozens of times, growing up in SoCal, but never to Disney World.  I think this is the best option as long as hubby agrees to it.  This also has a stop at Coco Cay, which I'd really like to see.  We've been to Half Moon Key, very nice, twice and would like to see another private island.

3rd option--- 4 nt. Mariner this Oct., out of Port Canaveral.  Similar to option two, BUT we could stay an extra night or two at maybe a more expensive hotel/resort in or near Disney World and go to Disney World two days instead of one, and/or Epcot, or Wild Animal Park, or Sea World, or....  I know this ship is older and it's only four nights.  This itinerary has just the one stop at Labadee, which is why I'm considering it, along with a longer Orlando portion of the trip.  Plus I'd love to sail out of Port Canaveral for a change.

Any comments/opinions on the ships and itineraries are welcomed!  We're late 40's-early 50's w/o kids.  Hubby isn't that picky but I like the newer nicer ships.  It doesn't have to be a mega ship, although most of RCI's are.  Last two cruises we got the drink package on NCL and HAL, which was great.  They both also have spa categories and RCI doesn't seem to, but I'm looking forward to going on one of their cruise and seeing Labadee.

    Thank you!

Before Covid I read where Mariner was Amped Up and sent to Port Canaveral but it was supposedly being set up for young people. I took that to mean a young and more partying crowd. 3 and 4 day cruises. That was the gist of the article. And of course you have your views to cruising.  Nice class of ship.

I do not disagree. But who or what are we believing.? Is it man who has done this? Because if it is we better get the nations making all the products for us to clean up also after we spend trillions of dollars on the eco green projects. Otherwise we will compete even less with the for supremacy.

Sounds like an exaggeration to me. But sea level is rising and that's a fact.

    https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/sealevel.html

Of course it is. The earth changes. Most people on the planet live within a hundred miles of water. We build and overbuild on barrier islands. And continue to do so. A lot o land on main side is sea level or even has swamp in many areas. The elites are pushing that CO2 has come before the Heat in Global Climate Change. But ice samples prove the Heat has come before the CO2. Man is resilient in survival. Life has survived many changes of weather and planetary climate changes. And if the earth decides a new ice age is coming, well then it will be tough but some will survive it. 8 billion people living in most every area of the world can make shysters look good.

If the "powers that be"  listened to the science in the first place and not listened to people without any understanding or idea about what needed to be done, (ie drinking bleach, not wearing a mask etc.) so many illnesses and deaths would have been prevented. Senators and higher not following CDC orders are doing it for their own political gain.  Do you think covid would have been downplayed if it were not an election year?  Nope, not like that.  It should not have been about politics it should have been about health.

Am I tired of covid?  Absolutely!!! But am I doing what has been asked of me to help keep myself safe AND others safe?  Absolutely!!  This is something which far too many people are not understanding.  The "It's all about me" mentality is detrimental to society in many ways, not just covid related.

I wear an N95 mask all day everyday at work to protect severely immunocompromised individuals in my life.  A 3 layer cloth or disposable mask is much easier to wear.  Just wear the darn masks, social distance, get a vaccine and go about daily business.  Life is SO much more important than that.  The sooner people "suck it up buttercup" the earlier we will gain a semblance of normalcy again.

Science told us decades ago that most of the beaches would be gone and half of Florida under water by now. Including the ports. It is who controls the science. And who controls the messaging.

If you have food or drink at your table, you ARE actively eating or drinking. Are the CDC Security going to sit next to everyone and watch them pull the mask down, take a drink and immediately pull it up? No!

This is why it is recommended by realists to always have water with you. You are actively drinking it and it cannot be argued either way. Restaurants here had water at the table upon seating. You are immediately consuming and thus no mask.

We all know there is fine print on any cruise contract we sign.  The captain on the ship rules. But he is not Capt. Bligh. We are disappointed at times on stops not made. However, in a closed situation as a ship we are all used to a lot of freedom on them. Depending on the type of cruisers there may not be as much as a fuss as with other cruisers with less freedom on a ship. Would a semi military type of cruise be acceptable to cruisers? Where limitations are part and parcel of everything we do. And inside the cabin may be the most freedom? With a TV that has ten stations all telling us about the limitations of what we can do and selling us gold and silver chains on the promenade during the hours they let us there.

Nope. Cruise lines make a choice. Sail vaccinated or not. Vaccinated way is easier and safer. Cruise lines know what is best for their restart success.

So the cruise lines are "woke". Part of the tyranny. If you do not get the shot, you will  be able to do nothing as this expands. Buy and Sell..

Saw the doc this weekend and now I'm terrified to cruise this Christmas on the Independence.  It really did a number on me.  I forgot how many people are squeezed into one small location on a ship.  Covid is still here and we do not just cruise with US people, there is a possibility of overseas guests.   I never was on the side of only those with vaccines get to cruise but I think I am now.   That was terrifying.  Who knows how many people were tested on that ship and they still had almost 700 people catch it. I am vaccinated so I guess I'll be OK but my whole traveling party & kids under 16...man it's something to think about.

Just saying. Most of the programming on TV and movies is slanted one way politically.

Pre-Covid, I would have wanted to be at MCO at least two hours before my flight. The TSA wait times can be very long since there is only one large chokepoint (checkpoint) for half of the gates and another for the other half. Not sure what it will be like this fall, but security waits at Orlando have been a nightmare for me more often than not.

The airports are interesting. Would MCO be as busy as it was during normal times during the cruise which could be a difference in time needed.

The "rationale" I was referring to is folks who allow workers into their homes and no one wears a mask. One person even said their contractors would not have worked for them if they insisted the workers wear masks in their homes. THAT is the risky behavior that does not protect themselves or their loved ones. That is just one example of the risk people have spoken about on this thread that has not been protective of themselves or loved ones. Problem is those people who engage in that risky behavior do not even realize that it is, in fact, risky.

A lot of this is the draconian ways that politicians responded to this. Some of it is silly and dangerous to unalienable rights.  Arresting people surf boarding or in forests with near no one around them.  What is the survival rate? 99% or so. closing down businesses and putting hard working men and women out of the same who toiled to make a success while the government drone who enforced it pats himself/herself on the back.

people are going to cheat the system.  Just look at all the ones that smuggle alcohol.  Forging a vaccine card that cannot be verified would be easy.

Our system promotes cheating and distrust. Those who do not are the ones cheated.

Remember that the sea animals did not make their habitats unsafe; we did. It's up to us to keep our beaches, oceans, rivers and all other recreational areas clean. That's as Simple as it gets.

Florida is very aware of the animals. Perhaps there is still things to be done, but do not get caught messing with designated ones. Including turtles.

Obviously you don't know. Look in a mirror. A minority who thinks they can dictate to the majority. Not going to happen.

I do not dictate to others. I look at analytics of where we are heading as a nation. Everyone has got their thing. You are right at this point. Our nation will divest of the Constitution to achieve being blended into a world globalist system. We are part of the way there now. The U.S., Canada and Mexico will be the North American Union. Part of a loose confederation of larger vassal regions submissive to global elites.

I imagine the indigenous people said something similar of the invading hoards from Europe and elsewhere.

You can give up your wealth for their cause and then leave to live somewhere else. The world whether you and I like it is about conquering. You from your posts seem to have a good life from it. Enjoying all the comforts that life can afford you. Cruises are enjoyed by many who like to take many. The people employed on ships from the far east are very intelligent. With many more so then many people who are cruising. The accident of birth engenders the ugly American. Guilt without giving it up is nothing.
