  1. It's cold and nasty outside. So DH and I have been looking at our itinerary for October. Anything to warm up right? But this has brought us to a question. Which island has the best snorkeling? We will stop at labadee, Falmouth, and Cozumel. Any suggestions?

We have over 3 feet of snow on the ground and its -12 out ! Our bright spot is we have 49 days till our cruise and can't wait to print out our docs today ! Of the 3 stops you mentioned, we think Cozumel has the best snorkeling ! The reefs are breathtaking !

  2. You don't need to book anything ahead of time, or for that matter, any at all ! You will be able to book them from the TV in your room if you want. I can only add that the good ones will probably be gone by then.....such as an excursion with limited seating, but one like a beach break should still be open. The cabanas at Nellies beach in Labadee are nice, but very expensive. Just as nice to sit at the beach under an umbrella for free. The Sea Turtle farm in Grand Cayman was a lot of fun, you can actually snorkel with the turtles in a lagoon. In any of your stops you can just get off at your leisure and just shop, that's the nice thing about cruising.

  3. Okay, almost time for muster! I'll post more later [emoji1] gotta go stand like a sardine with the rest of the fish outside [emoji15]

Hello Robyn, sorry to butt into your post but if possible can you let us know if suite guests are able to go to Giovanni's Table for breakfast like we used to go to Portifino's . We are in an OS in a few months on her and were hoping things hadn't changed ! Thank you and enjoy your cruise !

  4. I'd like to get lanyards for my kids to keep their sea passes in. I understand our ship, the Indy, doesn't provide lanyards, so I thought I'd purchase a few at home. Can any of you experienced cruisers tell me what kind of lanyard I should get? That is, will the sea pass have a hole in it that I can run a cord through, or should I get a plastic cover that will hold the sea pass? Many thanks.

Getting ready to take the kids on their first cruise in a few weeks, so I'm chasing down all the details to help things go more smoothly.

    Can't wait for the sunshine!

I could have sworn we found some at the promenade shops onboard.

  5. We have cruised on the Freedom several times, It is a great ship with a lot to offer and we thinking of sailing it again soon.

When I currently compare it against the Oasis and Allure the prices are lower as I believe the bigger ships are attracting all the attention still. Also, be sure to include your transfer cost from MCO to the port if you are flying in and are comparing total cost to cruise very closely.

The folks we are traveling with this cruise favor the Freedom due to the private island stop VS the Oasis / Allure only having 2 port days.

Just some guesses on my part...

Hello, we are about an hr south of Rochester. Our favorite cruise is the Western Caribbean on Freedom. It's hard to beat the 4 stops on a 7 day cruise ! We are doing the Allure again for the ship. Enjoy !

  6. We book everything thru Royal and usually stay at the Hyatt Regency and go to Downtown Disney and eat there . We also book our transportation thru Royal also. This is probably more expensive then doing everything separately , but one phone call does it all, and we have never had a problem doing it this way ! Also, have you looked into a package deal to cruise and do Universal ?

  7. I have booked a Grand Suite, but my two grown children are in their own balcony cabins. I know that one of my perks is breakfast and lunch in one of the restaurants, but will my children be allowed to dine with me there?

Suite guests used to be able to go to Portifino's for a full breakfast, but now I see that has changed to Giovannies table. Not sure how this will work now, but hope it stays the same !

  8. Normally you should receive an email from the concierge a week before your cruise asking what kind of cabana you want to reserve. Drinks are available in the CL each night from 5 to 830, but it does get crowded and there are no frozen drinks. You will love your GS, but it will be hard to go back to any other room !

  9. Thank you all for your helpful suggestions and advice. I'm looking at a couple of options now and will probably downgrade.

I'm hope that my on board experience will be better than my experience of Royal's customer service, who seem to be struggling to give me a price to change the accommodation. I have had 4 sets of figures now, and it's all a bit chaotic. They just seem to pluck figures from the air and nobody communicates with anyone else.

One of the reps I spoke to did say that the suites are very overpriced compared to lower cabins, and the benefits can change depending on lots of things, like who the concierge is and how many passengers are in suites on a sailing. Surely not?!

Just my opinion , but we really enjoy the extra benefits of having a full suite on Allure. Going to the CL for breakfast and drinks at night, or the option of having a full menu breakfast on the balcony if we prefer. Also, the suite bar on deck 17 is a very quiet getaway ! The preferred seating at shows and the ice rink are great just to name a few amenities we can't seem to live without. Also, the option of a Cabana at Labadee is hard to beat. I don't think we could cruise in anything but.....
