  1. I tried renting a recliner for RCCL cruise for my mother last oct. Special needs told me that they could ensure one of the beds would be removed. Scoot-a-round said it wasn't a problem both told me I was responsible for making sure it would fit. After getting the dimensions of the recliner and the ships doorway I realized it was impossible. We were not in a handicapped room at the time. I ended up arranging a wedge pillow for her instead
  2. My friend had needed stitches in her head just before our cruise. She brought scissors to remove them herself but the stitches were too tight for her to do so. She just went to the infirmary during open hours and they removed them for her. I believe they charged 100. to do so. She submitted the claim to her health insurance when we got back and they reimbursed part.
  3. I can arrange the car service from any hotel, train station or airport. I am looking for the best hotel option either in NY or Newark knowing that transport to the ship is not a consideration.
  4. I have a casino offer from Carnival that provides free transportation from hotel or airport to and from the ship.. We are cruising 12/6 on the carnival Venezia for a one way trip to Florida. I normally park at the terminal but that is not an option since we will be flying home from Manhattan. We are ideally looking for a clean room that will sleep three hopefully in a room with two double beds and a sleep sofa. We are really only looking for someplace to rest the night before the cruise as we have been to NY before. Hopefully with decent food choices nearby. We are high on convenience. Our budget is around 450 for the night but we are flexible.
  5. I have a similar question, we will be coming from Boston to the Manhattan cruise terminal. However our cruise is a one way trip from NY to Port Canaveral, so driving is out. We are planning on taking the train the day before. we have free transportation to the ship from the cruise line, but I am not sure whether we should take the train to Newark or into Manhattan. Where would our best hotel options be for three woman.
  6. Thanks, we were able to book the Hampton Inn and Suites on Carondelet ST with 2 queen and i sofa bed for a little over our original budget.
  7. thanks i'll check both of these out
  8. I will be in New Orleans December 1 for two nights prior to the Glory 14 day Panama cruise. I will be cruising with two friends. We are looking for a hotel in or near the French quarter where it will be easy to get around. The difficult part is we would like three individual beds, either two doubles and a fold out couch or a hotel with two beds and a roll away bed. I can't seem to find any. Our budget is up to 350 per night. We currently have a hampton inn and suites booked but it is in elmwood/clearview parkway. We think it is a little further away than we would like. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts
  9. thanks,, I do plan on using GPS as well. I just wanted to make sure I was using the best possible rate
  10. Several years ago, I drove to Manhattan for a cruise and received incredible driving directions on this forum. I have searched for several days and can't find them again. I am driving on 6/19th for a cruise on the Venezia. I am driving from the Boston Area direct to the terminal the morning of the cruise. I believe I will be taking the Mass Pike to 84. Does anyone have a copy of these directions that they can link to? or can anyone provide a similar set of directions. I believe they even came with pictures of the parking garage at the terminal. I remember them being better than the GPS directions in the car. Thanks in advance for any help.
  11. I have bought from Effy on board and am pleased with my purchases. One piece broke and after contacting the company it was repaired and returned to me within 3 weeks at absolutely no cost to me. They sent a prepaid insured label to return the piece to them, and then reconfirmed my address and returned the repaired piece back to me.
  12. I get a lot of casino offers under my VIFP number. The excel suites did not show up as available cabins to book under my number. The Carnival Rep I talked to told me that it had to do with my offer code, certain cabins were blocked I could see the suites under my mother's VIFP number.
  13. I also do this all the time when I book a family vacation. There are usually 10 of us. A few get really good casino offers &/or have higher status. We arrange the rooms to take advantage of the best price. Once on board We wait for the guest services line to be manageable and switch everyone to the room they will be staying. Everyone is issued new cards to the correct room. As Wemjam said, we just set up the accounts accordingly. We do the actual switch as we are not often together, ie who likes inside cabins who likes the center, who likes the back. Which means we are not in the same muster station. Although it is a remote possibility I wouldn't want to be sleeping in one muster station but assigned to one far away, nor split from whom is in my immediate travelling party.
  14. We are three friends traveling on a Carnival Panama Canal Cruise. Our cruise is not until 12/2023 but we are doing early research. We are flying into New Orleans 2 nights prior to the sailing as 2 of us have never been. As we are flying we will not have a car so we think we would like a hotel that is near the French quarter so that we can venture out via foot or public transportation. We have complimentary transportation to the ship so distance to the port is not an issue. We range in age from 61-82 so would prefer easy and convenient. If there is another area we should consider staying we are open to suggestions The issue we are running into is that we would each like our own bed. Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel with either 2 queens and a sofa bed or the ability to bring in a roll a way bed that is under 400 per night. Or a hotel where we could get adjoining rooms for under 200 per night?
  15. Thank you, you are confirming what I already thought. I will call and switch back to the balcony. It wouldnt be worth the worry.
  16. I recently received a complimentary upgrade from the casino for a 7/2023 cruise on the Magic. I was upgraded to an ocean suite and accepted it before I realized that there is no separate shower in the room. My mother who will be almost 83 at the time of the cruise is staying in the room with me. She is not very mobile, and uses a cane. She has had trouble getting in and out of the tub in the past. She does not have problems at home because the sides of the tub are low and she has a grab bar and shower seat. Before I call and change back to a suite, does anyone have a suggestion for portable equipment I can bring so that she can use the tub safely. As much as I would enjoy the suite, I do not want her to be unsafe
  17. That's funny. I bought the key for my niece for her honeymoon cruise when it was on sale months ago. At the time I priced it out and with the Chops lunch and the internet it was only an extra $30 for the Key. 18. Is the Chops lunch still included. I thought it was when I booked the Key, but now it is not listed as a benefit. Instead it is 25% on board dining and free room service?
  19. My family of 4 are driving from Boston the night before a cruise next July. (Monday 7/25/2023). The last time we drove we stayed in Stamford Ct. It worked out really well. None of us remember which hotel we used and it was at least 4 years ago. Does anyone have any suggestions for a hotel in Ct, that would be acceptable for a one night pre cruise. We are just using it to crash the night before and plan on parking at the Cruise port. We would prefer the hotel to be easy on and off the highway, with parking for the night we are staying, and somewhere to eat dinner/breakfast.
  20. Thank you for your advice, I switched to the SEA connection
  21. I am helping my niece book a flight for her honeymoon. I thought it was all set but the flights have changed. I have two options and am unsure which I should select. They are flying the day after the wedding/day before cruise on 9/17. The choices are a delta flight operated by westjet leaving at 5:15 pm from Boston connecting in Toronto (7035/7261) with a 2 1/2 hour connection. or a flight Delta 318/3809 through Seattle. This also leaves at 5pm from Boston. They both arrive in Vancover around midnight. The Westjet operated flight arrives at 12:30 the Seattle flight arrives at 12:00 My future nephew in law is a big kid and I paid for first class tickets as their wedding gift. I am looking for advice as to which flight would be more comfortable for them, and which will be less confusing, and easier to navigate. Neither one has travelled very much and this will be their first international flight. Is it easier to go through customs/immigration in Toronto or Vancouver.? As they are flying the day after the wedding they were looking for a flight that left later in the day. I am leaning toward the flight to Seattle, only because if something happens to the connecting flight they are close enough that they could drive to the port. Do any experienced flyers have any suggestions.
  22. My family and I were recently on the Mardi Gras, We had prepaid for a reservation in the steakhouse formal night. (we were a party of 11) my nieces fiance had some of his luggage go missing with the airline and only had shorts. When they confirmed the reservation and said no shorts, I explained that one of the members had nothing but shorts. When they insisted I then told them to cancel the reservation, as we couldn't meet the dress code. Suddenly they could seat us at a private table where no one else would have to look at us. When we went for our reservation there was another large party and the men in their party also were wearing shorts. They were also allowed to enter
  23. I booked an over the water cabana for my family for an upcoming trip. My 82 year old mother is coming with us. She has mobility issues. She is concerned whether she would be able to walk that far. I know that there are the pedal cabs to go from the boat to the end of the pier. Is there some transportation to take her out to the cabana? If not how far a walk would it be?
