  1. When we were on an 18 day cruse on the Koningsdam, there was no sound on during the day when the screen showed nature pics. The movies were only shown in the evening, once the pool closed. That was when the chairs were set up facing the screen with head rests.

We were never Promenade deck chair sitters so the narrow deck did not bother me. We were still able to walk all the way around. The added features on that ship is what has us on the Nieuw Statendam next year.

  2. We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam in February and July. We had 2 different cabin, on both sides and on two different decks, with family members in other cabins. We also had a Lido Cabana we spent a lot of time in. We were also on her in November 2016. We have never felt any vibrations while on the ship.

  3. Oh, thank you so very much everyone for your answers. You are all the Best! Could I ask a couple other questions?

    1. I kinda got "talked into" the drink package when booking. Though I am not a real "guzzler", I do enjoy wine and drinks on vacation. I understand that there are only certain places where I can use my "drink card" and some places (ie. DR and on HMC) where it cannot be used? Exactly where can I use this "drink card"? If by DR you mean the main dining room, then yes, you can use it there.q you can not use it off ship at HMC. There are no limited areas on the ship, as far as I know.

    2. On port days, are towels left in the cabin for our use on excursions or must we go to "towel station" and have our cabin card scanned? Towels will be in your stateroom the night before the first port.

    3. Has anyone done the Blend Wine Class? Comments would be appreciated! Sorry, I have no answer for this one.

    Thanks to all!

    C

    Have a great trip!

  4. Great review. Just a couple questions:

1: Where did you eat in Carcross that you enjoyed so much? We are planning to drive there (DIY), and will have lunch there, but are not sure where we will eat.

We stopped at Caribou Crossing Trading Post as part of our tour and that’s where we had a bbq chicken lunch with all you can eat homemade doughnuts.

2: How many kids were on board?

Because it was July and kids were on school vacation, there were many on board.

3: Do you know the min bet (and odds) for craps?

Sorry, that one I can’t answer as I on,y play slots.

Again, thanks for the great review. We're doing the same trip in 2 (!!!) days :)

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

  5. There are no free refills. You pay for each glass of soda in the dining room. You can bring as much soda or bottled water on board that you can carry on yourself for use in your cabin.

I don’t think you can bring it into the dining room. Free water in the dining room is not in bottles. There is a fee for bottled water.

Coffee can be ordered for free for room service. Coffee and tea are available free in the Lido 24 hours a day and are served at meal times in the dining room.

  6. We did the med on the Koningsdam last September. We are Canadian and there were a lot of Canadians, Americans and Australian as well as many Europeans. Thee was a wide range of age groups as well. We travelled with our 30 year old daughter and she never felt like she was surrounded by seniors. And she should know, she is a nurse in Long Term Care.
