  1. I have been on the Maasdam, the Nieuw Amsterdam and the Koningsdam. The dining rooms have mostly armed chairs but all three have also had armless chairs. Just ask your server for one and it will be there every day for you. I have not seen armless chairs at the Lido but I have at the Pinnacle Grill.

The single bed should support her, if her weight is what is listed.

As mentioned above, a handicapped room will be needed. They do have to be booked ahead but it is not unusual to have vacant ones close to cruise time. We have been given them as a Guarantee during the last week.

  2. We did a 16 day med cruise this September/October on the Koningsdam with our 30 year old daughter. She loved it and there were young people on the ship. I think the region helped with that. There are far more Europeans of all ages on these cruises (though not many children). We purchased beverage cards prior to the cruise and that worked great for us.

I have also been on the NCL Spirit and although I enjoyed the cruise (again with my daughter) it was a party boat and our cruise offered a free drink package. The ship was full of drunks for the first 2 day, than we hit bad weather and it was full of a seasick, hungover crowd for a couple of days!

Certainly not the fault of the Spirit, just a complication that comes with free drinks and a younger crowd.

  3. Where is the free sauna? I sailed the Kdam on a 4 night in Nov. 2016 and did not see a free sauna.

Im on again Feb.2018 and would like to know if I buy the soda and coffe pkg. can I get soda in the dining room or do have to bring it from the freestyle machine near the buffet?

Re: freestyle soda. Your key card will have an indication on it that you have the package. You can order soda in the dining room and they will bring you a glass. No need to bring the freestyle cup into the dining room.

  4. The first time I sailed we had a table for 6 and there was just my husband and I and one other couple. We were in our 50's and OMG, they were 90! It turns out that the husband worked for JFK and we spent the week enraptured by the stories at dinner. We could not have been more pleased that we had this couple all to ourselves every night for dinner. They were fascinating people.

  5. I tried to send a pic but I don't think it worked. The bathroom is larger because there is no tub. The table and chairs worked well for us. The TV is at the end of the bed so it cannot be watched from the loveseat anyway but the chairs can be moved if you do not want to lay in bed to watch. Plus it was nice to have room service breakfast at the table. The balcony was great as we could look straight out and to the back.
