  1. I called C&A as well and was able to speak with the person who originally gave me the information I stated in my original post and to whom I had written an email using that address and sending it to her attention.

She stated that she had received my email but had been very busy and apologized for not having gotten around to replying to it. She assured me that what we had discussed is indeed noted in my file and stated that she would send me a written confirmation of same before the end of the day. Will let you know when I get it.

  2. I called C&A last week to enquire about how the 340 pt single supplement works as I will reach that threshold on Dec. 4, 2016 when I complete my Freedom sailings.

I also questioned whether the supplement could be applied to my 3 Serenade cruises that start on Jan. 23, 2017 even though the final payment dates for them occur (1) prior to, and (2) during my Freedom cruises. The D+ loyalty ambassador referred my questions to a supervisor who called me back the next day.

She told me that my account had been noted and that they would apply the 150% supplement to my Serenade cruises upon my completing my Freedom cruises. She stated that I was to make the final payments as currently shown at the 200% rate when they were due, and then contact her after my Freedom sailings and that RC would credit back the difference to the credit card I use to make the final payment. It would be a credit of almost $2,200.

I did write C&A a week ago, requesting a written confirmation of the above and addressed to the person's attention that I spoke with. As of today, I have not heard back from C&A other than receiving that email that says my concern will be addressed in the order that it was received and have nothing to confirm this promise other than the word of the person from C&A who called me back. Should I take C&A at their word?

  3. The rewards for Royal Caribbean are handled by their Casino Dept., Casino Royale. Since the Casino is set to unveil its new tier program by March 15, 2017., that may also be the reason that rewards were removed from the MyVegas website. After the new program is rolled out, the offerings may return.

  4. Here is a link to News Story and eyewitness video from onboard.

When I sailed both the Quantum and the Anthem, I noticed how much each ship rocked in (relatively calm seas) comparison to the Explorer and was fairly sure that the Anthem would have problems dealing with the seas and winds that Nor'easters. The Quantum class ships are long and narrow -- and the stabilizers they are equipped with didn't seem to be smoothing out the ride. I don't think this is the last time we will see this kind of news item about the Anthem.

  5. Going on the Liberty next month and would really like to try scuba. There is a scuba certification class on board, but also a discover scuba excursion. Or should I get open water qualified before I go and do a 2 tank scuba excursion. My wife isn't interested in scuba whatsoever, so it would be time apart.

As a diver with over 60+ yrs of experience, I would strongly advise completing all your courses at home, including your open water. I have been on many dive trips in the Caribbean with people who did "resort" or "cruise" certifications and have found most to be either uncertain and some to be outright dangerous below the surface. If you plan on making diving a hobby that you frequently engage in, it is best that you get a strong foundation. The classes offered via a dive shop will give you that.

  6. Hey, I don't thing singles should get double C&A Points but it's their program so it's their rules.

Please note: singles paying 200% didn't get double points until Oct 1 2014. Before that they paid for two but only received one point for each night sailed if booked in a balcony or inside category and two points if booked in a suite category.

  8. Just because you found certain things unacceptable does not mean every one else will. It completely depends on the person.

It's completely fine to share your thoughts, but don't try to tell others that their cruise really wasn't that good.[/quote

I did not tell him/her that his/her cruise was not good. On the contrary, I stated I was happy it was a pleasureable experience for the poster. My further comments were in response to a comment made by the poster. One should not draw conclusions or make accusations or chastise someone without viewing the entire conversation in context.

  9. First time poster and cruiser, but I also got off the Anthem of the Seas Thanksgiving sailing and had a fantastic time.

I go on a Cruise to experience all the ship has to offer for food and activities, and both were excellent. My only true complaint (other than service getting a bit better) was the hours of operations. SeaPlex should NEVER close IMO. They seriously turn the X-boxs off and take the ping pong balls away. Activities should be open way more hours, too much teen only time. Late night activities were limited and short. The rare times they did something cool at night for adults (RED nightclub experience, silent disco, etc) it lasted for like...45 minutes? Two70 should be a kickass night club every night of the cruise.

I am glad that your first cruising experience was a pleasant one. With having been on cruise ships for 60+ years, I have found too many issues with the Quantum class ships that could have been either avoided or tended to in a more expedient manner.

I believe that once you have been aboard a few more ships and have a basis for comparison, you as well will have developed certain expectations for the dollars you spend to cruise and find certain inconveniences more than petty. Did they ruin my cruise - no.

Am I willing to pay for those same services again - obviously not, since I cancelled my 3 cruises on Anthem for a B2B2B on Vision.

  10. The only reason they're so crowded is because RC allows multi-generational families to claim the perks. When you've got grandparents, with their children, and their children's children as D+ members all in the lounges you have that problem.

I don't think anyone's going to like the solution when it comes. Delta had the same issue with the Delta Sky Club lounges. About a year ago they decided that all partners and children no longer get free access to the lounges ($20 surcharge instituted). The lounges are peaceful and quiet now but the families are fuming.

It's my understanding that once a child reaches 18, his or her status is based on the actual number of nights sailed. So if you are seeing multi-generational families in the CL, only the children's children may not have (though some have) earned their status through the normal channels.

  11. So what you're saying is that up until now you've been a tax cheat by not reporting this income and you're sad now because you will no longer be able to lie about your gambling winnings.

Really, is that what I said. I thought I only stated information for all about a new policy that RC was implementing and their rationale for doing so. I also stated that I had never received a W-2G for a hand pay.

I must have missed the post in which I stated I had never reported my winnings and have lied in the pat.

You, sir, are in desperate need of a lesson in reading comprehension.
