Crystal, I’ve been silently following along and enjoying every single post and photo! We are embarking on our first trip to Europe on 9/24 (2 nights Venice, 3 nights Rome, 7 night Med cruise, 2 nights Barcelona). I hate to hijack or interrupt your report but I must ask - how do you keep all your plans, thoughts, etc. organized? What I’m referring to is when you say “I knew where we wanted to eat…”. I obviously have any bookings for tours, train tix, reservations in my phone, but do you just keep all your ‘ideas’ in your phone notes? Right now I have everything written out on paper but I don’t want to carry around my notes everywhere. Any input will be greatly appreciated!

We loved that Market Commons area when we visited about 10 years ago. At the time, they rented out the condo units which is where we stayed.

Did you take the ferry to Porto Venere from La Spezia? If so, how long was the ride? We have an excursion booked from La Spezia to Pisa but it’s only a half day, so depending on the amount of time needed we might do this also.

It sounds and looks like an amazing weekend. Your daughter’s gown was just beautiful. Thank you for sharing the pictures and details. Now you need a vacation!

Andy used to ride also, from about 2010 until 2019. I was very happy when he decided to sell the bike.

That’s fantastic news Dani! I guess we will see how the day goes in Portofino. If the weather is good, maybe take the ferry to SML just for a scenic ride, with no expectations. It is important to choose those battles, isn’t it 😉

Just one? We’ve torrential rain most of the day with flash flood warnings and phone alerts. It seems to have finally subsided.

Thank you Dani! Our plan for Portofino was also to visit Santa Margharita Ligure. Were the shops closed due to the day of the week or was it the time of day you were there? Maybe we’d be better taking the ferry to SML first, then explore Portofino in our return. What did you do in Ajaccio? I think we’ll just take the Little Train Tour, then explore the town. Most importantly, how is your cousin doing?

I’d love to add The Key but I doubt I can convince Andy. It’s currently $35.99 pp, per day. Remember, this was a “free” cruise. We already paid to upgrade the cabin and added excursions and dining pkg. I think I’ve maxed out my skills of persuasion!

That’s good to know, thanks for the heads up. I really wish they’d keep those year round. My daughter had a great experience on Breeze Airways a few weeks ago to Orlando, even traveling with two toddlers. I’m just leery of booking with an airline that has limited flights per day and flies from limited airports, just in case a flight gets cancelled and you really need to be somewhere (like a cruise ship lol). At least with JetBlue & Southwest, you could always try to hop on something out of Boston or Hartford if need be.

Hope your cousin is doing well and you & DH are able to enjoy the cruise. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Edge as we’re on her in just a few weeks.

Agree with all of you. We’ve also stayed at a couple of his Margaritaville Resorts and loved them. He really portrayed that island lifestyle vibe. I’m not a parrothead, but my middle DD and her husband are, so they decided this morning that their cookout tomorrow will be dedicated to Jimmy and Cheeseburgers In Paradise will be served. RIP Jimmy🌴
