  1. I had a nice phone call today in response to our problem. While I am still concerned about them honoring their word, I am hoping they stay true to their word. I do have the name and phone number to the executive that called me today and was told to reference them in any dealings I have in the future concerning this matter. I told them I would not post their contact info publicly.(they did not ask). They did say that staff can look at our reservations and see when the cabana was purchased to confirm.

They assured me that this was an executive decision and will be upheld. Here is the e-mail I received.

Bold type notes the fact that any cabanas booked/paid before Oct. 4th 2013 will be allowed the upgraded buffet. If booked/paid after Oct. 4th they will only receive what is in the "new" description.

    Dear Mr. Brandon:

Thank you for contacting the executive offices of Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. Your correspondence to Mr. Goldstein was forwarded to my attention upon review, and I welcomed the opportunity to respond on his behalf. It was a pleasure speaking with you earlier.

We appreciate your comments regarding the amenities associated with the cabana rentals in Labadee and regret the displeasure conveyed.

As discussed, the upgraded barbeque buffet, offered on Barefoot Beach, one of Labadee’s beaches exclusively reserved to suite guests, was also made available to cabana guests from other Labadee beaches, and generated unexpected crowding as a result. In order to maintain a premium beach experience, Royal Caribbean will start enforcing the exclusive access of Barefoot Beach to top suite guests only.

Please note that guests who have purchased a private cabana on Nellie’s Beach will still have exclusive use of their cabana for the day. Other cabana amenities include a built-in ceiling fan, luxury resort-style lounge chairs, two floating mats, beach towels, a water cooler with six bottles of water and a personal cabana attendant. Guests in these cabanas are invited to join the beach barbeque buffet at Columbus Cove Café, Dragon’s Café and Café Labadee. Guests who have already purchased private cabanas at Nellie’s Beach prior to October 4, 2013 will still be able to access Barefoot Beach’s upgraded beach barbeque buffet.

We truly hope our guests will enjoy a memorable day during their call at Labadee, one of Royal Caribbean’s highest-rated Caribbean destinations and private beach paradise located on the northern coast of Haiti. The destination features five beaches, a Haitian artisan market, an extensive array of watersports options, as well as exciting attractions such as the 2,600-foot Dragon’s Breath Flight Line, the world’s longest zip line over water, the 300-foot Dragon’s Splash Waterslide, and the Dragon’s Tail Alpine Coaster.

Mr. Brandon, thank you again for reaching out to us. We greatly value your patronage and look forward to welcoming you and your family onboard the Allure of the Seas in May.

Thanks for sharing this. I think a safe thing to do is to also have a copy of your email confirmation showing when the reservation was made.

  2. In the top left hand corner, my printer dated my copy of the Pre-Cruise Planner Summary that I printed out. I did not receive an email confirmation. I assume that I didn't because my cruise was booked through a travel agent, but I am far from certain about that. I have a call in to my travel agent to see if she received a confirmation for me. However, I did check my credit card and payment was made to RCI on the same date of my Summary. I have also emailed, hoping to get an official response letter of my own instead of copying the posts here.

I also booked my cruise through a travel agent but did receive an email upon booking the Cabana. Check your email on the day you made the reservation for details such as below.

Did you get this email today from RC if I may ask? Thank you.

I have yet to receive a response to my email sent on Monday.

  4. Never mind the QoS blocks at Meyer Werft or the celebrity advisors, I’ve found the mother load!

LOL. Lloyd you are the best at finding things about the Quantum build. Royal Caribbean and Meyer Werft should both reward you with a trip to the Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. You are one of the few keeping this whole Quantum thing interesting since there are no reveals from RCCL.

  5. At the end of this past August we also booked an Over The Water Cabana at Nellies Beach for our March 2015 sailing. Primary reason for booking besides the shade was some of the amenities and conveniences that were included. I gained a lot of great info here at CC about these Cabanas before making that booking. Now to find out after making that deposit of $250 they are taking away most of the benefits. Gees, a few weeks ago we learned they dropped Samana from our sailing and now this. They are taking away everything and worst part without any correspondence to their loyal guest. I will also send an email to RCI.

Also, I do agree as some have mentioned that Bob (Clarea) knows his stuff well and gives very good feedback. I have been on the receiving end of a few of those and I am thankful for the info and intel he shared.

  6. Thanks everyone. I'm glad you're all enjoying the photos. I've been fortunate enough to visit a drydock during a major refurb (Freeport Drydock when they changed Nordic Empress into Empress of the Seas). It's fascinating (to me), and a part of the cruise world not many see. My friend has promised to send as many pics as he can throughout the process. I'll continue to post them here.. enjoy!:)

Well maybe your pictures did have something to do with it (wake RCI up) as there is a new Vision OTS sailing to Bermuda in 2014. There is new thread out there about it. Below is the link to the itinerary.

  7. On the March 21, 2015 Sailing, I finally received "official" notification of elimination of Samana. While not upset with that, That only leaves us San Juan, and Labadee. We arrive in San Juan at 4 pm and leave at 11pm. Not much time to do anything there. Then we arrive in Labadee at 4:30pm spend the overnight there and leave at 5pm. Looking forward to the Quantum, but it is the worst itinerary I ever had. No time for anything in San Juan and an overnight at their private island??:(

I am hoping for another change, What do you think will happen?:(

Did the notification come directly from RCI or your Travel Agent? I am also on that same cruise. It's hard to believe that the current would be an itinerary for spring break which tends to be a high demand cruise period and at a premium in most cases.

  8. am I calculating this right--Capt. Johnny will be on Allure for the Nov. 17th sailing???

Using a 10 week rotation and assuming a Sunday change (when Allure docks at PE), I would say yes. Although Captain TG start of 8/16/13 was not on a Sunday so this could be off +/- some days. Its just an estimate.

    Master Start End/Sunday

    TG 8/16/2013 10/27/2013

    JF 10/27/2013 1/5/2014

  9. An Oasis class ship in Europe will be great!... The few cruises next year are nearly full booked!!!... :)

The story in the attached article indicates that RCI CEO, Adam Goldstein also feels good about the bookings Oasis has achieved for its Europe sailing and ports. So as some have suggested here already, this could be a test for an Oasis class maybe.

From Tavel Weekly - “We always felt demand would be high but we needed to do it in real life to be sure."

  10. That is not an Oasis class ship it looks like a Freedom class ship. It's definitely not Oasis.1,2,3,4or5.

One picture shows a Freedom Class and another shows an Oasis Class ship. On the Oasis Class you can tell by the double smoke stacks and front facing cabins above the bow area. The front profile of the two classes is different.

  11. Oasis is heading across the pond soon for a few cruises to test the market and for a drydock. Think of that as a test drive.

So far the cruises in this "test drive" appear to be all booked. At least the ones from Barcelona. Cuurently all show N/A. It could very well be a good indication as to how well this class ship does in the European cruise market.

  12. RCCL itinerary is:

    Sailing Itinerary

Day Port *** Arrive Depart Activity

Day 1 Cape Liberty, New Jersey 5:00 PM

    Day 2 Cruising

    Day 3 Cruising

Day 4 San Juan, Puerto Rico 4:00 PM Docked

Day 5 San Juan, Puerto Rico 3:00 PM Docked

Day 6 Labadee, Haiti 9:00 AM 5:00 PM Docked

    Day 7 Cruising

    Day 8 Cruising

Day 9 Cape Liberty, New Jersey 8:00 AM

At least you guys got San Juan. There is much more to do in SJ than Labadee for an overnight stay.

  13. I know our itinerary has been changed for the 1/3/15 cruise. No Samana but they added an overnight in San Juan.

A few days ago the 3/21/15 sailing had an overnight on two different ports depending on how one did a search. Via My Cruises it showed overnight at Labadee. Via RCI Plan/Search for a crusie from the Home Page it showed overnight at San Juan. Now it shows overnight at Labadee both ways. Hopefully yours is now also consistent as to which port for overnight. I hope they come back to revisit this change and add another port of call but please not Nassau.

Day Port *** Arrive Depart Activity

  14. Very little (new) Quantum news was released during our Royal Caribbean webinar this afternoon...

    • Info was given on the Family connected Jr. Suites. They're basically a jr. suite, inside and balcony cabin (connected with a vestibule) that will sleep 8-10. A minimum of five legal names are required to book them. Square footage is 575 square feet (combined) with a 216 square foot balcony. Rooms will have 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The inside room has only a full bed - not a Royal King - which can accommodate two but it'd be tight. (Would be perfect for a MIL traveling with the family, I would think!) There will be 16 of these on the ship.
    • New itineraries for QOS will not be released until early 2014.
    • It is not believed that a golf simulator will be on QOS.
    • A Broadway show has been chosen for ship but name is not being released yet.

Very little indeed. Did they say anything about the "more to come" spaces and when they will release more info on them?

Any mention of Anthem or Oasis 3?
