Glad to hear it, Saint Greg! I can't imagine an Alaska cruise without a naturalist, it'll make your cruise so much better. Be prepared, on their signal, to sprint to Port or Starboard with a good view so you can see the wildlife, which should be starting pretty soon after the naturalist boards I think. Pretty soon (if not already) you'll hit the inside passage and the views start out great and just get better every day - especially in town and the fjords. Looking forward to your excellent photos! Did you remember binoculars?

Carnival has a very disciplined approach to these situations. What happens to each person in the altercation depends on a lot of things and after separating people they try to get as much information from as many people as possible before deciding what to do. People involved in the altercation are required to complete a report and asked if they want to press charges against the other cruiser. Any witnesses are asked to also complete reports of what happened. Security tries to piece together exactly what happened based on these reports and whatever ship security cam footage is available. I was witness to one where the assailant was next door. Because the wife also wrote in the report he was physically abusive to her before the external altercation, the husband was taken to the brig and the other person involved was given a warning and cut off from alcohol the duration. That's all I know.

Does the message go on to say anything about J&J booster? I haven't kept up on vaccination stuff since I got vaccinated with one J&J jab over a year ago.

Saint Greg! So excited for you! We've done 20 cruises, all Carnival and have done Alaska three times. For my daughter and me, nothing in the Caribbean comes close to the beauty of Alaska! BTW, on Alaska cruises, the CD takes a back seat to a scientist/naturalist who will board as you approach the inner passage and they will wow you with amazing history and facts about glaciers, etc. They also stay on the bridge with binoculars and will announce wildlife ahead in time for you to get to the side of the ship to view them. Also, the entire trip is beautiful, even when you're cruising from port to port - no endless seas view. Speaking of ports, they're real Alaskan working towns! No Carnival shopping crap to wade through! I can't wait to follow you on soon-to-be your favorite cruise ever! If you have binoculars be sure to bring them, otherwise Carnival will sell some "eh" binoculars to you.

It sounds like wareaglefan444 and I might have been on the same cruise... line started at the bottom of the ramp and went past the garage even though it was serpentine.

My daughter's bf is a pit boss who travels not on certain ships, but only Ultra, Elite, etc. cruises. So, for example, he'll get finished with an Ultra cruise coming back to Baltimore then fly down to Tampa to catch an Elite cruise that departs next day. He said there are factors used to determine the offer, and sometimes the factors fall within overlapping cycles and stopped there, saying it's hard to explain. Anyway, what I think it means is one of your factors (who knows... "first" Carnival cruise and they know your history with NCL?) is putting you in the "better offers" category right now. Best I'm getting right now is free balcony, 7-day, free drinks while gambling, $250 in FunPlay chips. I have gotten better offers in the past, and I've gotten "not as good" offers. We're booked on a free 10-day in early September out of Rome with $500 FunPlay and I'm holding out for something at least in-between my current offers and that one.
