  1. Reneé, thank you so much for sharing your quarantine with us. Your sunny outlook proved that it’s survivable! I’m glad you finally got food you would actually enjoy, and I hope maybe that improved life for the next inmates! Even though Royal is in no way responsible for pax getting COVID, it sure helps if they make quarantine as pleasant as possible. We’re sailing August 20 on Allure, and I hope we stay healthy. If we don’t, at least now I know what to expect!
  2. I’m 10 days behind and trying to catch up, but I want to thank you for posting this link. my daughter caught COVID while at my granddaughter’s law school graduation in Chicago. Her husband is positive, too, but feels ok. Lisa is feeling rotten. She can’t take Paxlovid because it interferes with her Lupus meds. Thanks to your link, I got the Blue Mountain app and hopefully brightened her day a little.
  3. Such unbelievable pain. I hope you can all get through it and get comfort from the friends who come. I’ll be thinking about you all and praying for your daughter and her children. The hurt never goes away, it just becomes more bearable.
  4. I took a shortcut with the shortcake…I skipped it. Yesterday I cut up the strawberries and sprinkled them with sugar. Today we ate them by the bowlful with a pile of Reddiwip on top. Decadence! Now if I only had a hot tub!!
  5. I wasn’t downsized, I was tired. And the straw that broke my back was it was time to do the budget for my two offices again. I absolutely hated doing the budget. I thought about it leading up to my 62nd birthday and I thought about Dick sleeping when I went to work every day just because he turned 62 before me. A week after my birthday I pulled the plug. My boss came to my main office rather irritated with me and asked what I was going to do instead of working. I told her I was going to clean out my closet. That was July 1998. I finally cleaned out that closet, but only because we downsized to a condo in 2007.
  6. I don’t know about you, but I felt so torn when I left my job. I wasn’t going to look for another one, though. I was old enough for Social Security, and my husband had retired. I felt like my coworkers were together, loving life, and I was all alone. I felt strange when I went shopping on a weekday morning. Was an outsider in a new world. That lasted for about a week!! You are going to a whole new and exciting life, so enjoy!
  7. Graham, I think the first photo is a salad? But I don’t recognize all the ingredients. Last photo is a calzone? I can’t enjoy your food vicariously if I don’t know what you’re eating!! But it all looks yummy for the tummy!
  8. That’s sea grapes growing on the dunes. The dunes are a natural barrier to protect the house from the ocean. Nor’easters do more damage along North Florida beaches than do hurricanes. It is against the law to cut down or dig up anything growing on the dunes as that’s what holds them together. it is also against the law to walk on the dunes. That’s why each oceanfront home has a dune walkover.
  9. I’m so sorry. I don’t know what to say except I’m glad your daughter and their children have you to help them through this. It’s heartbreaking for all of you.
  10. I’be seen the subs a few times but in all my years in North Florida I’ve never found a single shark’s tooth!
  11. I was just wondering if Dick and I should try Celebrity. I’m presuming it’s more like Princess than Royal Caribbean?
  12. We just spent several days pet sitting while our daughter and son-in-law were in Chicago. I wandered around on the deck and saw her little garden next to the outdoor part of the summer kitchen. I cannot get the planter boxes right side up! I even turned the photo upside down and it still posted upside down! The grill between the BGE and the pizza oven is an Asada grill. Argentine style which I guess is the latest toy. It was a nice little vacation. Dick walked the dog and I enjoyed the cats!
  13. We’re house/pet sitting at the beach. This is who was lying on top of me this morning. Cooper the Wonder Cat.
  14. @Mrs.H. Welcome to our coffee klatch/happy hour/therapy session/seminar family. I’m Mimi. My DH Dick and I live in a condo in Florida, but we’re almost lifelong residents of North Florida, so even though we’re old, we’re not typical retire and move to Florida people. I hope you enjoy our stream of consciousness palavering!
  15. Graham, I sleep with a soft pillow between my knees. Don’t even have to adjust it when I turn over. It has helped so much with my knees hurting because of being stuck together.
