The Retreat versus Concierge Class and adding Specialty Dining
wineoclock replied to bnurick's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We were super impressed with Blu on Silhouette. We’d have gone for Blu again on Apex (May) if it wasn’t for the IV. -
The Retreat versus Concierge Class and adding Specialty Dining
wineoclock replied to bnurick's topic in Celebrity Cruises
For me on E class I cruise in a suite or I’d have a SV. I use my balcony way too much to be happy with an IV. Shame X didn’t have a few more traditional balconies as well. -
Lucky you. Dh likes cruises but prefers land holidays. Me - I’d always take a cruise over any other holiday!

As well as all ^^ Med cruises are port intensive so pick one that has a sea day middle or end of cruise so you can chill a bit. You are up early - 7/8am are not unusual start times. Some have overnights in places they are always good fun as well. Depending on where we May book a hotel for the night to get a proper feel. We live in the U.K. but still do a med cruise now & again. You can do them couple of times at least in each place & do different excursions. So much to see & do.

If I book celebrity I go direct as I’ve been used the same Celebrity agent 3 times now. I’m looking for 2025 at possibly a different line so will use an agent who can give me independent advice.

If I wanted the most "traditional" cruise at sea...
wineoclock replied to Ladydee's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
My grandparents went on the preview world cruise on QEII and a further 2 world cruises on her. I have such a beautiful photo of them from the preview cruise. They were in the grills. Every time I told to my grandma where I was travelling to, she’d pipe up ‘I’ve been there!’ I’m sure i get my love of cruising from them. -
Noise from the Sunset Bar on Edge Class ships
wineoclock replied to lovedecruise's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We were disappointed with Apex Sunset Bar. Went there once. On Silhouette we went every time the weather allowed. -
Are they generally ok? Have seen a cruise on beyond in October & suite guarantee is way cheaper than regular. Thinking with all the messing around with butlers May as well try a guarantee. Trouble is dh wants a land holiday 😬 need to be able to persuade him on price….

In other words we are going to do what the hell we like & stuff the paying customer.

@clojacks I don’t do FB, the red place or Elon’s new place. I post here & another site unrelated to cruise ships. So I’ve no idea about elsewhere & wouldn’t know where to start so I’m grateful to the posters here otherwise I wouldn’t have a clue. edit (Apologies if I’ve inadvertently mentioned sites I’m not allowed to) @cw2go that’s a useful list thank you. I will compose an email tomorrow to concierge & to my celebrity travel agent. I will also send to HO once I’ve scrolled back!

Still showing butlers as part of the Retreat experience for all suites. That’s not on in my book. We have a CS booked on Apex next May. For the price I’m paying for £2000 more I can go to Regent PH which includes excursions & pre night stay & flights. Similar itinerary. Downside is we would have to fly as Apex will be going from Southampton, so will stick for the next one and will then take a view.

Regarding the Retreat lounge, whether in PS or CS we have not really used it. We prefer the Martini bar. We especially like the Ensemble lounge on S class. We would sail RS on E class but I don’t like the small balcony. Don’t need a 2 bedroom PS either. So back to CS. If they took away Lounge not sure I’d be fussed. Sundeck & Luminae then I would be.
