Henry, thanks for your work this week.  We will be doing B2B on the Joy in September (9/1 and 9/6).  Perhaps we will run into you.

My sense is you never got to meet Patrick Berido, the concierge.  I would like to email him to see if he will be still onboard in September.  Each NCL ship has a unique 2 or 3 digit code used in its email addresses.  I know the email address for the Joy's concierge will be conxx@ncl.com or conxxx@ncl.com.  If you got an officer's card at some point during the cruise, his/her email address was probably listed, including that 2 or 3 digit code.  If you don't want to post it here, perhaps you could email it to me at eichorns at aol dot com.  Thanks very much.

    It's 67.

Here is the Card with who is who among the senior officers - 2 GM onboard this week, Ricardo going on vacation tomorrow when we reach Bermuda, and the other GM with the handover today (will get his full name) both from India.

We had very light & simple refreshment, coffee & tea, water for the M&G. No samples from behind the bar counters 😉 or free samples (Escape, I recalled ... right, AR). Jerry the CD hosted the introduction & the GM team, welcomed all. Otherwise, not much mingling or folks connecting across & around the room, especially when CC don't know who's who from the social media group. About 35 attended in total, from my rough count. Not a good M&G event, IMHO, aside from chatting with 2 to 3 others ... hey, Dan - nice to meet you & connect. 🙄 FB group doing a $30 slot pull.

If he is not going to dock there, which he does have a choice to do, take it off the itineraries. The last several weeks of not docking are pretty straight forward. Even the Officers on this ship question his ability and judgement. And yes, they discussed it with passengers. Start adding up the data and you start to get to the conclusion at hand. If it was 1-week, got it. 2-weeks, maybe something is weather condition related. But 3 and soon to be more, its time to put another Captain on to prove the issue and inform passengers prior that it is unlikely this ship docks in Roatan.

I'd love to know the names of the officers who are "questioning his ability and judgement". Be upset all you want at your missed port, but certainly don't start throwing people under the bus for keeping YOU safe.

As the maiden cruise will be a non revenue cruise there´s no need for another pre inaugural from Reykjavik.

NCL had invited guests from all over Europe (continental Europe, UK, Scandinavia) on the 2 nighters from Bremerhaven to Southampton. 2 or 3 pre inaugurals would be much more expensive... And I´m pretty sure that US will be invited to the maiden cruise as Reykjavik is a short flight from the US and Amsterdam has good connections back.

The Christening Cruise (Iceland Inaugural) is Aug 26 - Sept 3. Invites went out already. This is the event where Katy Perry will perform at the ship's Christening. Additionally, there are two other confirmed Inaugural Sailings: (1) 4-Night - New York, Oct 6-10 visiting Halifax, and (2) 4-Night Galveston, Oct 27-31 visiting Cozumel -- invites went out for both. I'm sure there will be one in Miami too, but details are yet to be released.

I was wondering where Breakaway was since it dropped off CruiseMapper sometime in the last few days.

Its webcam puts it at dock in Miami.

I'm new to looking at the various marine tracking sites - how often does CruiseMapper "lose" a ship?

Breakaway will be leaving today, around 4pm (1600hrs) to head back to NOLA for her restart this weekend.

    A little inside information?

It was info from someone onboard.

The Port of Miami Daily Dock Report provides departure dates and destinations.  Not inside info but you have to dig a little.  Just Google Port of Miami Dade and there are links to the dock report.  You just have to specify a time period.

Thanks for that link! Makes it so much easier! 🙂

  7. She's currently on pause, with the first departure date back into service being your cruise, January 30th. She's heading to Miami to be with her sisters for a few days (crew movements, and easier anchorage than NOLA -- Mississippi River is too long to keep transiting to head out to sea and back). She'll be back in NOLA on the 30th to pick you up, as scheduled... as long as there are no further changes 🙂

  8. I’ve been on Escape since 12/18 and heard about my bid for the next sailing (Jan 3) today. I had the minimum and not a dollar more, because it didn’t really matter if I moved or not…. But… Moving to 2Bedroom Villa Haven. Will be first time moving my cabin in 16 days, but I’m sure it’s worth it  for a couple of days with extra space 😊

So…..if you upgrade your room by paying the additional cost  difference, does anyone know if you lose the upgrade bids associated to your original room? I am in a balcony, it’s not that much more to upgrade to a spa balcony. If I upgrade and pay the difference to go to the spa balcony, do I lose all the bids that I have on haven upgrades that I currently hold? I would really rather hold out on the haven, if upgrading means I’ll lose my chance on maybe winning one of the bids I placed.

also, I have read people paying in advance for the weekly spa pass. Why do it ahead of time, rather than on the ship? With reduced capacity, I would think it would be easy to get, and maybe even discounted on the ship…

Actually, the Spa Passes are discounted online. 🙂  It's more expensive to buy it on the ship. The good thing about buying them online is that you can cancel it anytime before sailing -- this way, if you win your bid to a Spa Cabin, you're not stuck paying the additional cost, and if not, you got the cheaper rate for the Spa Pass 🙂

  10. I'm not aware of any Haven area being build on Harvest Caye.... But possibly do you mean Silver Cove on Great Stirrup Cay? It's not a Haven area, per se, but it is exclusive to those who book Silver Cove Lagoon Villas and 1-2 Bedroom Villas.

I'll be on the first few sailings of the Joy in August, so I'll let you know.

I wonder when the naming ceremony and official inaugural trip will happen.

Having been on a couple of transatlantics before there was often grumbling about nothing specia having been made of the trip, as the naming and inaugural happen in the US afterwards.

I’m booked on the first trip, from Amsterdam to Reykjavik and there are another three before the transatlantic, but I suspect that the official ceremonies and inaugural will happen in New York or Florida.

If tradition holds, the Christening will happen in Miami when the ship arrives from Galveston. Likely during one of the invite-only events. That's how it has been the past 5 or 6 launches.

And you know what is funnier?  I posted your video instead of mine.  Both good videos but yours was a bit nicer so I posted it 🙂

To the other poster that asked....yes the solarium is air conditioned.  Its a fantastic view and it feels like you are cruising on your own private yacht to see all that water coming right at you.

That's very kind, thank you 🙂 I likely watched your YouTube video before making mine, so thank YOU for helping me choose this cabin!

  13. I can't wait to get to Iceland! I am going on the Star in 2022. Doing a 32 day voyage. Starting in Reykjavik, hitting Greenland, other ports in Iceland multiple times, rounding the UK, and hitting Norway before returning to Reykjavik. My dates are 7/25/22. 8/4/22 and 8/14/22.

Reading through all the suggestions above is making me very excited to go! Keep them coming!

  14. LATREW = the promo code that adds your internet minutes/any onboard bonuses that comes with your latitudes status. This promo code does not give you any extra points.

LATITUDE, on the other hand, is the promo code that gives you the extra point per night for Latitudes cruises.
