I really don't know what to do now. Does 16001 have the pullman bed from the ceiling in the second bedroom? I will have two adults in there. I never had a solarium before. I'm not so sure we would like that.

Yes it has the bed that comes from the ceiling. I much prefer the forward facing view than the side view. There are windows in the class that can be opened if you'd like fresh air. You can also request padded loungers to be put on the balcony, which you can't get on the other balconies. It's quite nice!

Email was from:  Bill Sosa | Supervisor, Casino Sales and stated current tier level would remain until the 2022 tier level renewal (which would change April 1, 2022).

Keep the status we had before April 1, 2020... or only keep what we accumulated up until shutdown? I had a cruise the end of March that would have pushed me back into Ruby.... if not, I'll be Sapphire.

    The solarium is air conditioned?

Also, are there any lighting restrictions in 16001 because it is so far forward?

That's the video I took of it! So funny!

Yes, 16001 is my favorite cabin on the Epic... it's the biggest of the 2 Bedrooms. 17001 is similar, but a tiny bit smaller. The solarium is A/C. No lighting restrictions since the cabin is above the bridge, but if it were a deck or two below, there would be.

For the record, unfortunately, NO, your status does not reverse between NCL / Oceania. I wish it did, however, it does not.  While Oceania and NCL are part of NCLH, the status of either does not transfer between lines.

    Cheers 🥂

Okay...I am really late to this thread, but we have always stayed in the Haven/suites on NCL and have been bombarded in the past month with Oceania emails/brochures (at least one brochure a week).

I would consider them, but we love the relaxed dress code of NCL. We are going to cancel our 2021 cruise, so who knows what 2021 will bring. I will say that I've been unhappy with the continuing downgrading of the "free" add-ons, even though I understand the reasons.

Does anyone know if our status on NCL will transfer to Oceania? Or if it even matters?

Although the Latitudes status does not transfer, your Casino Status (if you have one) does carry between all lines are all Casinos At Sea. So if you are Ruby on NCL, you will also be Ruby on Oceania and Regent.

You must have been lucky to have seen EVERYTHING in Alaska on that B2B.  Everything is a well everything.  I have done the Jewel and Sun B2B in Alaska over 10 times.  Although I have seen a lot I have yet to have seen everything.  That is the reason I keep going back.✌️

Many congratulations to you... if that's what you were looking for 🤣🤣

It is not money.  It is research.  On NCL with the cruise next program my cruises are sometimes free.  Last minute bookings and I sail IX most of the time.  Just get me on the ship and let nature take its course.✌️

Sometimes people would rather take one nice Haven trip vs 50 interior trips. Different folks, different strokes. Your comments just show what kind of person you are.

What on earth does any of this have to do with Cruise Critic?  You research cruise prices on CC?  (huh?).  You learn of your own cruise next credits with NCL on CC?   (not even possible?).  You claim to have gone on 50+ cruises to Alaska...unless you are a stowaway (or crew member), that requires quite the resources (re: money).  Glad you end your posts with a peace sign emoji, signals that certain passive-aggressive behaviour only found in keyboard warriors.  I'm guessing you are trolling me.  Not a bad job.

I agree with you. I hope this post has given you some kind of help with choosing your vacation. My post and view on the subject is just a few back. I have the unpopular opinion, but take it with a grain of salt. I cruising to Alaska in the Haven last year and by far one of the best I've done. Being in the Haven takes nothing away from Alaska what-so-ever. You enjoy your vacation how YOU want! Sit in that beautiful observation lounge with a cup of hot chocolate and take in the views. Sounds amazing to me!

I am not going to just act like I didn't see this amazingly ridiculous number.  17??!!??  WOW

Hahah, yes. Given she was based in NYC for 5 years straight... it was easy 😜

PERFECT!!  Thank you so much.  We received al of the FAS promotions.  Drinks, dinners, internet, and shore excursion discounts per port.  I love Brazilian Steakhouses, that is for sure.  I think the Ice Bar would be COOL.... pun intended.

Beautiful! The Shore Excursion credit is $50 per port and you can also upgrade the internet package you get with the FAS to unlimited for like $80 bucks usually. May be worth it if you are a big internet user like me? 🙂

  9. I have the totally unpopular opinion, so let me explain my reasoning.

Yes - Glacier Bay is extremely gorgeous... but, out of the two above, I would pick the one that goes to Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier (Bliss). I much prefer the half day in Juneau, and the half day visiting the Arm vs a day in Glacier Bay. Plus - this specific itinerary offers one of the #1 Alaskan Shore Excursions that broke the charts for the past years. (I just did it again on the Joy last year). It's called Endicott Arm Fjord and Glacier Explorer. You get on the smaller vessel in Juneau about 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the ship, and then you head into arm for a few hours. The ship then comes and picks you up right in front of Dawes Glacier. The point of this excursion is to give you the up close and person experience with the Glacier that the cruise ship cannot give. Yes, it gets close, but not nearly as close as this excursion can get you.

*Yes, this excursion is also offered in Juneau on the Glacier Bay itinerary, but it's not nearly as extensive as the one that is offered on the Dawes Glacier itinerary, as at the end the smaller vessel needs to take you BACK to Juneau vs the ship coming to pick you up in the Fjord, giving you more time at the Glacier.*

If I may, I'd like to offer some advice. The Jewel leaves from Vancouver and does one way cruises Northbound and Southbound. Vancouver to Seward and Seward to Vancouver. If you do a back to back (or a one way with an added Denali/land portion) this is the BEST way to see Alaska. If you do a combo Northbound and Southbound (total of 14 days) on the Jewel... you will see EVERYTHING in Alaska. You hit all the major parts in one shot... Tracy Arm, Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier... etc. From what you say above with all that FCC, this may be a good option!

I am personally doing the Jewel B2B Northbound and Southbound July 2021 and I cannot wait. Alaska is just beautiful and I can go over and over!

    Hope this helps!

Greetings!  I am new to NCL but not new to cruising.  We have done 8 cruises, all on Carnival.  Note:  We love Carnival and it suits us just fine.  We dress up for formal nights.  We wear appropriate clothing in dining room at all other times.

Yesterday, we booked a 7 day cruise out of New Orleans for our 10 year Anniversary in February 2022.  I know it is a long way away, but the 2 for 1 deposit and all the FREE @ SEA offerings were too good to pass up.  We will be on the Breakaway.  Any tips, pointers, gee whizzes, or wisdom you can share with me about the ship and the experience is greatly appreciated.

    THANK YOU in Advance!!

Have been on the Breakaway 17 times... and I can tell you it's a great ship. If you have never seen an all-ice bar before, I'd recommend trying it out. It's one of those one and done things, so see it then! With the passes, you get a free drink, which is nice. Also -- if you got the dining package with your FAS promotion, I would recommend trying out the specialty restaurats, like Le Bistro (French), La Cucina (Italian), Cagney's (Steakhouse) or Moderno (Brazilian Steakhouse).

One big tip I can offer you since this is your first time is to book your shows and dining reservations in advance. You can start doing so at around the 120 day out mark. This will be a big help one you get onboard.

I just looked at our tags from this past March. They had the date, but no booking number. They're really only used so the crew gets the luggage to the correct passenger/cabin, so dates & booking numbers aren't really important. Yours has your name, cabin, and the FTTF designation...those are what's important.

I did our online check in 2 hours ago, and printed all of our docs. Luggage tags, boarding passes, etc. There's NO booking number on our luggage tags OR NO dates at all. Only my name, cabin number, and our FTTF symbol. Oh! I just read what you posted, O.C. Exactly what you said. Sowwy. (note to self: read ALL of the previous post to which you are referring, before you open your mouth and stick your foot in it.)

Thank you both very much. Makes me feel a better! Have a great cruise!

  12. I just booked a Carnival cruise, and I purchased FTTF.

See below for a pic of my luggage tag:

My question is... In addition to my name and the ship name... in the past I had the sailing date as well as my booking # on my luggage tags. Should I call and see if it's maybe a glitch that they took off the date? I would think that at least the date would need to be on the tag somewhere. Or does it show up after final payment is made? All in all, it just looks like there is some info missing from it. I want to make sure before I print them off etc.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

Here is what NCL advised me regarding the circulating image:

"We here at NCL are as eager to set sail as you are! Regarding the circulated image, there are still a few unknowns but we are planning for a variety of relaunch scenarios. We continue to work across several plans and time frames to ensure we are best prepared for the resumption of sailing and we will, of course, share information as it becomes available. If it’s not directly from us, it is fair to say the least, it is not credible information. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate through this evolving situation."

    Thank you.

  14. Port Canaveral is one of the easiest ports to leave out of. You should have no problem doing a side to side from there. Wake up and relax the morning of disembarkation and enjoy breakfast and the ship before getting off and moving to the next terminal. An Uber will probably be between $10-$20 to go just a couple minutes.

to maximize, then both NY ships will probably be used.

what's your thought for the other port for the 3rd ship?

or do you think ncl will bring a 3rd ship to ny and do the same 1 ship departs sat, 2 on sun?

Nah, I think it will be one ship from NY... Encore. To Bermuda? Not sure, but there are other options to consider.

I'm so shocked to see some folks agreeing with me. I had my battle uniform on for the comments I thought I would get. I've been saying NYC since April and literally everyone bashed and said no way.... well, things are changing indeed. Other than New York, I think we can expect Miami and Port Canaveral. Of course, the Sun from PC and Sky from Miami. Will there be another ship in Miami? Who knows, but I think those are the 3 we can expect at first startup.

Escape is returning crew to Europe, Joy is returning crew to Asia, and Epic is in Miami as a "hotel" for crew that cannot or are not being repatriated by other means, and are not needed for warm lay up of their ships.

Escape is in the Med repatriating crew there. Then she will go to India and finally end in Manila sometime around July 15th. The original schedule that was floating around was changed up a bit, so it's not too accurate anymore.

So their hoping (NCL) that they can let them leave the ship to fly home rather then cruise to South America to drop them off ? Maybe i am miss understanding do their home country's not want to allow them to return?

You are exactly right. These are the folks who cannot fly home as their countries do not want them back yet. It's extremely sad, especially when it's your own country. Mauritius is still denying thousands of their own people from returning home. South Africa and most South American countries are the same way for the time being.

Thankfully, Norwegian has decided to keep one ship with these crew... feeding and housing them as an acting hotel ship until further notice as these last crew receive plans to go home.  Some just received flight details to fly home on charters this week, but, if the past comes back around, this would not be the first time it's been cancelled on them. So incredibly sad.
