  1. that is a shame! My husband has often taken the full amount of our points, and paid literally a couple of dollars to fill his tank. We are in the Nashville, TN area.
  2. Is there a way to get notice from AARP on the cards? We are members. First cruise on HAL; although, we have probably been on 15-20 cruises with other lines. I am also thinking of buying Carnival stock. Getting geared up for retirement in the next year or so. Money, will not be as plentiful. Looking for all ways to save a dollar. Also, we purchase gift cards when our local Kroger store has 4 times the fuel points. Purchase $500 in cards, and save $2.00 per gallon on gas. That works on our end as well. Thanks. I look forward to your reply.
  3. Would you mind sharing where your purchased your shares (if this is allowed on this board)? I want to take advantage of the same kind of opportunity. Thanks.
  4. I wanted to ask you what you would recommend at Trunk Beach? This is where the tour drops us (from the description on the tour). Any suggestions, are very much appreciated! Details are great/ ;0)
  5. Do you happen to know if the Niew Statendam has latte's etc., in the main dining room, and other spots? Thanks,
  6. I just went back and read the description of both excursions a second time, and I may just try to do the taxi to the ferry; per, your "detailed" instructions. ;0) The reviews complained it was too limited on time. One person said they only got 90 mins total on the island. I would like a little longer than this. I think I strongly consider your recommendation! There seemed very little difference in the two tours; except, for (I believe) where they drop you off in St. John. Thanks so very much!
  7. Thanks, we were on the same page. I appreciate you replying!
  8. That was my guess, given day 6 is Thanksgiving.
  9. We have been to St. Thomas several times. This time, I swore I am going to St. John. So, we can do an on your own excursion for $49 pp through our cruise line (3 hours) or another option for $99 pp. I think 3-4 hours doesn't seem like very long for an excursion. From everything I have read, there is the time to get to the ferry and then hourly leave time, etc., absorbs quite a bit of the time. Just wanting opinions on going ourselves or sucking it up and using our OBC for the excursion cost. I guess it would give us time to wander around the town a bit, it we went the excursion. So, I will await your expertise! Thanks in advance!
  10. I am new to HAL. Can anyone advise what days they think the Gala nights will occur? I am thinking Thanksgiving could be one, but not sure. We are trying to book a fancy dinner as well, so this would help. Thanks in advance, 1 Ft. 11. How long is the excursion and the cost? We went on a boat for a whale watching in Cabo, but I was just curious, since we will be in port in November. Looking for something a different to do while in port. Thanks.
  12. Hello to all of you experienced HAL cruisers. My husband and I have a cruise reserved for Thanksgiving week on the Statendam. We have been on approximately 20-25 cruises on other lines. We were supposed to take a two-week land/cruise Alaska adventure in August 2020; however, Covid put a hard halt on that trip, on three different occasions. We don't really need a lot of advice in regard to the ports, as we have been to all of them (except the private Island) more than once in the past. I would like general recommendations. We booked under the Have it all offer. I rarely drink and my husband drinks maybe a beer, ten times a year. I do like my "nice" coffees. I would like to get a recommendation, on where to try to get our dinner reservation? Suggestions on where to use our excursion offer? I am thinking perhaps St. John, as we have never had opportunity to visit. Things to "not" miss onboard in regards to entertainment and dinning? How is the Wifi? Mostly used to let people know we are good, etc. I did review the New HAL posts for a good bit of this year. Any suggestions on this cruise are welcome and certainly appreciated.
