Jerryfriendly Posted January 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2018 Our cruise will be here from 1-8pm. We will have time to go to the rainforest? How should we go? There is no excursion offered by the Vista.

Rare Keith1010 Posted January 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2018 Hopefully you will get feedback on both these boards. I had thought the rain forest was destroyed by the hurricane. Keith
RMH Posted January 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2018 IF the rain forest is open when you are there (there is conflicting info on the website) you should have time for a fairly short visit. It closes at 6:00 and it takes about 30 minutes of drive time from the port with no traffic. That will give you a chance to see one or two waterfalls and the drive up to them. You can arrange for a private tour that will pick you up and take you around, or you can rent a car. No public transportation. A private tour will be more expensive, but a car rental adds additional time factors and other potential issues. When we were there we arrived at 1:00 and rented a car to drive to Luquillo Beach - close to the entrance to the rain forest. We did not have a ton of time, but we definitely got to enjoy the beach and did not feel rushed. If you are not trying to do too much in the rain forest you should be fine. Also, if you get a car, make sure it has after hours drop-off, since you likely won't be back until after the office has closed.
vacationers Posted January 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2018 The rain forest is still close and it is very difficult to get there. Those roads are the ones most affected. Taxi cabs say yes, but be smart, no way.
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 20, 2018 I am not surprised that it is closed. I thought it was devastated in the hurricane. Keith
