parrotfeathers Posted October 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2017 Thought I would give basic economy a chance, but I was uneasy the whole time. I realize buying a ticket doesn't mean you automatically have a spot, but it does give me a sense of security. On the trip to Miami I picked my first leg seats when I checked in online. One of us had a middle midway and one of us had a window near the rear. Couldn't get a seat from ATL to MIA until reaching the gate. Still near the rear but no middle seats. On the trip home the Delta check in clerk (maybe) was sympathetic when he could not get the handle to telescope past 8" on my new suitcase. I explained to him it was broken when I picked it up in MIA. He said something about a claim. But he put both of us in emergency row seats for both legs of the flights. But I don't think I'll do BE anymore.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted October 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2017 As a note to everyone, remember that the "Basic Economy" rules for AA, UA and DL differ. Thus, direct experiences and policies are not necessarily transferable from one brand to another.
