ScttSki04 Posted January 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2018 What can be done if you catch the #10 to cable beach but don't have a resort day pass? I have only done the day pass and looking for a cheap alternative.
scubagirrl Posted January 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2018 You can go to one of the public beaches, but there are no amenities outside the hotels which require passes. Saunders Beach has a rest room, and KFC and the gas station are located across the street . Goodman Bay has ratty restrooms which are usually chained shut, but they do have a few vendor carts near the parking lot selling soda and snacks. There is also a pathway next to the Melia that allows access to the beach as well, but you can't enter the hotel beaches or private properties along the way. Just ask your driver to drop you off at one of these beaches. Keep in mind, these beaches are generally not maintained, cleaned or raked. And there are no lifeguards or help if needed. imluvncruzn Posted January 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2018 We took the #10 jitney to Goodman's Bay a few weeks ago. There were restrooms that were clean and functioning. Chair rentals were $10. They had a vendor selling beer, rum drinks, water, and soda. They also had jet ski rentals, paddle boards, and snorkeling available too. Our jitney driver asked us what time we wanted to be picked up and came back when we wanted. It was a great day!

You can definitely enter the hotel beaches. They are not private. You just can't enter the hotels pool areas or use their facilities.
scubagirrl Posted January 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2018 Bahamian beaches are only public to the high tide mark.. Which means you can walk along the edge of the water or sit on the wet sand at low tide. It does NOT allow you on the sandy dry beach in front of a hotel or private property. You could, enter by boat, but most hotels have markers to keep swimmers safe from boating and rec. vehicles. Bahamians have been fighting this battle for decades. BNBR Posted January 22, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2018 I'm aware of the high tide rule. I'm just saying as someone who has been to Baha Mar several times, the beach is accessible and non-guests walk up and down it all the time from other resorts. The guards stand at the entrance to the pool areas.
scubagirrl Posted January 22, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2018 The biggest issue is getting TO the beach without trespassing. You can't go thru the hotels or private property, and security stops you at either end.
