sunsetme Posted May 2, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2018 Just returned from 2 week trip to Cairo, Abu Simbel, Luxor. We had a fabulous guide Mo and we had jam packed days. It was hot outside of Cairo, we fly down to Abu Simbel and had 3 days on Lake Nasser, then we transferred to a Nile river ship. The ships showed signs of neglect, but we had good bus transportation to the sites, and very good security. We did have some problems with the flights into Cairo from the US and back again as Egyptair is very unreliable. This was a bucket list trip for many and we had an excellent group of travelers. Tranquility Base Posted May 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2018 Regarding the Lake Nasser portion of your trip. Which ship were you on, and would you recommend doing that as an addition ?

texancruzer Posted July 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2018 Sorry to hear this about Egypt Air. We flew JFK to Cairo and back when we did a 15 day land tour before the January uprising (we went the November before) and the flight was awesome. Almost brand new plane, good food, comfortable seats and right on time. Actually one of the best flights we have ever done - and we've flown quite a bit to Europe, Morocco etc. I think the economic situation since the unrest there has affected everything regarding the tourist trade. Sad - wonderful country to visit - warm friendly people - very poor but very proud.
